I got 612 Merit Just Today

As you can see I'm a JR member and still have only 2 merit than did I lied to everyone well technically no. I really received 612 merits see here



After watching this I rushed over forum and refresh my profile like crazy. Thought for sometimes that there maybe server issue or getting all that merits at once maybe laged forum🌚 that's why taking time to arrive. I used VPN, Tried clearing my browser data , tried to logged in another device nothing was working . Then I search on google and found some topic related to this that sometimes this notification bot which is provided by TryNinja sometimes has some bug like this.

Anyway as a low rank member I was so much happy that I couldn't think about any no to my response🥲. Do you guys faced any of this issue recently.

This is what I perceived happened, if you logged in your telegram account or notification bot on a device that has been previously used to have same notifications but for another account or user, it will continue the counting from where it's stops, so I will advise you check well that you're not connected to another device by mistake or something related for your privacy.

This is a little error, open the notifier and type in /setmerit 2 then send. It will be reset.

No that is not true, this has happened to be before but I clicked in the Menu and /help that is how I got the idea of setting the main number of merit with just /setmerit and impute your merit number.

I don’t know why that happened. I received merit recently, yesterday if I’m correct, and the counting is still very much accurate. This thing you posted seems like either a bug that you have started or the Telegram you used for the bot might have been previously linked to another member's account because the number difference is much from 2 down to 612 merit.

Damn you sure know how to clickbait a post. I also rushed over to see your response😂. Well didn't thought of this was waiting. Well in my case I faced miss calculation a tiny amount. Like it was showing 1 merit Increased from my total merit. That was it just. It's sad you tried that hard. No worry keep contributing on forum  you'll eventually archive this on forum. Just don't take any shortcut to pursue some merit. Merit is something that will come from your contribution.

At first I thought you probably linked another member's UID to your telegram bot. However I think this your case is actually a bug. Some other member has had this issue in the past where tryninja presented him with the code Mahiyammahi has here as a fix. It's just a minor issue of the bot inconsistently scraping merit data.

Thought so at first but I looked up the merit history of vapourminer and he hasn't merited anyone with around 612 merits lately so I'm quite sure OP is just experiencing a bug. Op you should lock this topic now since you have a fix already.

Possibly TryNinja is working on something on his telegram bot which may have prompted the malfunction of the bot.

I guess that there is either a misplaced username or URL or userID in place of someone with the exact merit score, so inside of giving the notification to the user only, the bug might have included your ID or username to the notification hence you got notified too.

Previous I’ve only noticed double notifications which he fixed. So this is getting fixed in no time.

You went crazy after receiving such a notification. Due to which you tried to see if you really got so many merits by refreshing in different ways. Even though you did not get so many merits, you still got such a notification. It is actually a technical problem of the bot that has shown the wrong notification on your telegram bot.

What you can do to solve this is: You can restart the Telegram bot. You can turn on the Telegram bot wall notification after restarting.

Still, if the problem is not solved, then you can reset everything in the Telegram bot and turn it on again, then your problem will be solved. Although I did not have such a problem, I found a bug in the notification a few days ago, then I solved it by reset it.

Yeah this incident lead me to dig more into merit system and what I found that a user can send 50 merit max to a user in 30days time frame.

Well I did received a merit from vapourminer so the transaction was genuine but the sum of merit kinda unusual. Although I was a new user on bot so didn't have any experience before.


I will close this topic after few more response. I'm keeping this open to get more response to see if any one else did faced this issue or not. Thank you guys for all this supportive

Thanks for the clarification, it never happened to me before, so I'd expected to be something related to what I said earlier, now I get the whole idea, that it may be a bug or something else that he encountered, while he can just on his own fix it following the procedure you mentioned, thanks and we keep learning.

No you didn’t, you only received a merit at that time but the count got spiked up with additional 612 merit..
It happens but only the owner can tell you what’s going on, he mentioned a way to reset it though

Well, even though it's a bug and it will be fixed, when you saw that, knowing that you are a jr. member and only have 2 merits, you should have thought logically about it. A single user can only send 50 merits to another user in one month, which means that for you to have received 612 merits within a single day, you must have been given 50 merits by at least 12 users and then some more from other users, or if it's not full amounts, you must have been merited like crazy by people for a post you made. Did you think you've made a post that deserved this many merits? If not, then you should've understood right away that it's a bug.

Anyway, I don't use TryNinja's telegram bot, so I've never experienced anything like that, but I think if someone sees unreal numbers due to a bug, they should know it's a bug and understand that programs, algorithms, software, and scripts can have bugs sometimes, it's a normal thing. I'm sure TryNinja will find a fix for the bug very soon and then no one will face this issue.

The funny thing you need to know is that a source merit can not even give up to that number if merits because the highest I have seen is 100 merits. And the 100 merits are not sent at once source merits with the huge number of merits normally give 50 two times.
Anyway I know how you feel when you saw that notification but funny enough it was just like an April fool joke 🤣. Anyway now that it has corrected, just luck the thread.

This matches with the total merit count, which is cached for the first merit an user receives (612 + 1 today = 613).

No I ain't know that account. Who is that. I started using this telegram and start the bot is recently. As you said I start the bot on August 22nd and started using it.

Probably this Telegram handle was used by someone else , cause I did purchase telegram from a 3rd party vendor. The bot history was cleared so everything came to me as a new user.

/start just runs the setup again, but nothing is deleted. I guess it makes sense for the merit cache to be cleared if you're changing the user id.

For hard reset there is /hardreset.
