I wanted to check on how my Bitcoin was doing in my Electrum wallet. But now the entire application is gone. I'm on a Macbook Air M1. Does this mean my wallet, and the BTC in it, is gone?

what exactly do you mean by “gone”? has your application been deleted? is your wallet file missing?

if you still have it, you can easily access your wallet again using the 12 seed words provided by electrum. when you created the wallet, you should have copied it onto a piece of paper or a physical object.

No, if you have only mistakenly uninstalled your wallet application and also lost your wallet file, then you can obviously recover your BTC's with your seed phrase, which you must have backed up somewhere safe.

Download electrum and enter your seed phrase to recover your wallet. But first you should be curious about what happened to your wallet application and ensure that your device is safe before importing your seed phrase into it.

Your funds only "disappear" from your wallet if there's an outgoing transaction record, that is someone moved your coins to another wallet. If, for some reason, you can't find the Electrum app on your system, it doesn't necessarily mean the funds are gone.

Check again, download, and install it againg following all security procedures. Restore your wallet using your wallet backup, which contains the 12-word recovery phrase. You should write this down, don't lose it, and protect it at all costs. Never write down the recovery phrase online.

I don't use MacBooks but disappearing software isn't normal on any operating system. Could it be the work of your anti-virus that perhaps saw Electrum as a threat and moved everything to Quarantine? Check if it's there and restore it if it is. Are you the only person using that computer or is it a shared one?

Regardless of what happened, your seed phrase is the most important element here. I hope you still have at least one copy of it. Find it, download Electrum again, and restore your wallet. Electrum seeds aren't BIP-39 compatible, so you won't find many alternative wallets that support this type of seed. Blue Wallet is one of them, though. It's main focus is on mobile wallets but coincidentally a desktop version is available for MacBooks.

Search for your wallet in the ~/.electrum folder in Finder. This is the location of all Electrum wallets in macOS.

If you did not change the name of the wallet, you will find it under default_wallet.

If you mistakenly uninstalled Electrum it won't delete wallet file automatically.

Type: Cmd + Shift + G  and paste

If you didn't changed file path when you install electrum you may find Wallet file
If it say No such file or directory”  Electrum data is probably removed.or somewhere else.
