Genotypes and it's effect in society

In our society system now before couples come together their do go for test for genotypes and so on  and most times these test comes out negatively affecting them were by the man might be AS and the woman AS too and the result will aromatically disrupt the marriage

But back then our fore father's don't have time to check all this things and there were happily married and giving birth to numerous healthy children is it that things have changed since then or what's wrong your opinions is recommended

Our climate is changing and you should understand that our planet isn't as healthy as it was before because of man-made technologies that is affecting our body system, the air we breathe now isn't as clean as the air our forefathers were breathing. However, genotype existed in the olden days too but it wasn't as popular as it is now because there was no Internet to pass it round to everyone as we now see everything happening to the next person in the internet and it will look like it hasn't been existing before now. Our forefathers gave child birth to healthy kids and they also gave birth to unhealthy kids as well so revealing genotype has never been the problem but it has saved most marriages from bringing a sickle cell child to suffer pain from the ignorance of their parents.

This is really a thing of concern, though i don't know if this genotype also affect people from the western countries because it has really ruined most relationships that both couples would have been compatible with each other. What i will just say is that in the olden days, our forefathers were lucky that they gave birth to healthy children and the sickle cell anemia disease wasn't rampant as at then but i don't really know if i will say that it is the sin of humans in this current generation that made a lot of things to change because so many sicknesses and diseases have been discovered. Anyways, genotype compatibility is very important in Africa so that children with sickle cell anemia will reduce and before any man and woman enters into a romantic relationship they should know their genotype to avoid story that touch in the future.

I have had family members who have grown up and died without getting married, so it could be interpreted as a fact there are people who are meant to be alone and never marry. Some may say it is because God had a different mission for them or whatever, anyways, dying alone is one of the saddest things which could happen to anyone, but there are people who do not mind being alone... What a serious observation @op. While our ancestors married without genetic testing, there was also high rates of infant death and genetic conditions unknown to them(as in without observations) which is usually attributed to one thing or the other. Here some may say the gods made it so. Today, science is awareness and choice, which feels disturbing but for sure empowers would be husband and wife to make informed decisions for the health of their future children’s. Somehow nothing has changed, only human knowledge and awareness developed to ensure well-being.
Not to forget, the pain associated with genetic test is usually emotional and today knowing has grown to include emotional intelligence which is needed in situations like this...

Is not that something which is done only in African countries, so couples can be sure their children won't suffer from adnormalities on their red cells?
This is something which is pretty much unheard of in the American continent, I have never had my blood examined when I have a girlfriend and I have never even suggested any of my girlfriends to get tested to know their genotypes...

It must be kind of weird to live in a society where people pays such amount of attention to genetics of other people. Again, it is something which is not common here.

The main issue with genotype in most cases is mere ignorance, a lot of people do not understand how important it is for an individual to know his or her genotype before they start having children, if there is much awareness in the society concerning this very topic then we wouldn't be having children suffering with sickle cell as a result of the mistake of their parents because awareness is key to eliminating the disease.

The world is changing and we need to start making our improvements for human life and experience, in those days our father never know what their call genotype, blood group and how it can affects their reproductive system or offspring, I remember losing my cousin to sickles cell, after battling with several life threatening sicknesses while growing up he died at 20 year's, prevention is better so doing the necessary tests and marrying a partner that you are compatible with is goal if you must marry.

Nothing has really changed, this genotype of a thing is mostly done by people who have acquired some certain level of education in the society and they think it's necessary for them to do this genotype. If you check through the African society today many people are still getting married without any genotype testing and yet they are producing healthy children. For me as an educated person I did went for genotype test with my partner for us to be sure of things so we can avoid certain things that may happen in the future.

The thing is that in the olden days people didn’t bother with genotype tests and many still lived fine through life. But at the same time, we can’t ignore that some children suffered from sickle cell and other related health issues, only that it was not widely understood back then. but at least education has just made us more aware of the risks so we can prevent future pains. It doesn’t mean love or marriage didn’t work without the test, but now that science has given us the chance to know better!! I think it is kind of wise to use it to our advantage. Prevention is always better than cure!! especially when it comes to children’s health!! Besides no one will like to spend his or her hard earn money on something that can be entirely avoided from the beginning stage.

Sickle blood cells is a genetical disorder which is endemic of African countries, countries which had been historically associated with malaria. Since people with sickle blood cells are naturally more resistant to malaria than people with normal blood cells.
Here in America there is very little need to perform genetic tests in order to rule out genotypes which could result into children having sickle blood cells, because this region does not endemically suffers from malaria. It would only be necessary if two African American people wanted to have children and both were from counties where malaria is common.
I have never met anyone here in my country who has taken those tests together with their partner.
