I got really worried over the habit of some friends who are into betting or gambling and how they often stake into a game in a week more than what they earn even in a month and most time are not able to get it back in a couple of plays. So it got me really worried and concerned
What would be your advice for such if they were to be your friends as a caring friend who want them to not get financially drained in the process?
What have you done to your friend? Perhaps you could at least help them realize this by explaining that gambling is simply a form of entertainment, and there's no need to resort to it recklessly or to the point of chasing wins or trying to recoup losses, as this could only lead to addiction, which can be difficult to recover from. But if they persist in wanting to recoup their losses, that's their right. We've tried to advise them, but they still want to do what they want. Let them be.

Your friend has fallen into the category of gambling addiction, and counseling him is not easy. As long as he gambles and wins, even if his losses actually outweigh his wins, he won't realize it and will continue this way until he truly loses everything and realizes it. However, it doesn't stop there. If he doesn't have a genuine desire to recover, he will find any way to continue gambling. So, it all depends on how patient and persistent you, those closest to him, and even a professional are in helping him recover.

Not everyone will listen and learn something just by talking Some people will, but others will only learn through practice, while others will continue with the same behavior
Betting more than you earn is not necessarily a problem if you already have a good bankroll or if that money is already set aside for betting But in any case, the obvious tip is to place small bets while you don't have much betting experience, and only then bet higher amounts
I don't usually interfere in this type of situation between my friends, I strongly believe that every adult knows what they are doing

If you are that worried about them, you have to speak to them and not discuss it because people are going to give their opinions over who they haven't seen before. Best you can do, approach them in a play manner like the friend you guys are, talk to them why they risk so much to gamble when their source of income is very small. If they are your friends like you said you are their friends, I'm very sure they will reply you in the best you can understand and from their, you can show them why you are concerned. Have you check if your friends has other source of income you don't know? You know people do what they want, how they feel comfortable with their money. It could be that they have another source of money for them to be living large. No financial unstable person will gamble huge amount of money on gambling when it's not guaranteed they are going to make the money again, nobody does that unless they are doing something you and I may not know.

First of all it doesn't make sense to me for someone to be staking above his or her earning, because in that case we can no longer call it gambling but foolishness. Gambling is a game for fun and a game for entertainment so anything more than this you no longer gambling, but doing something else which is not making sense. Gambling is suppose to be done with the money you can afford to lose, so staking above your earning is just madness if you ask me. And gambling shouldn't be taken as investing, because taking gambling as investing is one of the reason a lot of gamblers are staking above their earning while gambling which is not making sense.

If that happens, I will definitely remind him personally, and always invite him to do useful activities, or keep himself busy, so that he doesn't have the opportunity to gamble, because the intention to gamble will appear when someone is idle, without activity, well, if he is busy, he definitely won't have time to do that.

I don't see myself keeping such friends, and I believe my own friends would do the same thing to me if I indulge in such act that can cause too many damage. I see no reason why people should gamble with everything that they've gathered. That's literally a path way to financial destruction and instability. Gamblers and bettors have to understand that they can never get richer than the casinos or betting companies, so what's the point of risking your entire funds in a 50/50 game. I would advice, if you still see the need to keep such friends, then you better start telling them the truth and the possible consequences at the end of the day. Too many wrong approach to gambling is literally the cause of so many problems that we keep addressing.

With this kind of gambling habit your friends are into, I would just say that they are gambling addicted.beacuse if they are not addicted i don't see anywhere they will always gamble with what they can't afford to lose.like even go to great lengths to take loans or borrow money to gamble. If they weren’t borrowing money or taking loans, it’s not possible that they would gamble weekly more than what they earning in a month. i view this as an addiction. These are habits they’ve developed. I don’t know the kind of advice you may give them to change them but you should still try your best to offer some advice. Maybe you will be lucky, and part of them will change, but the truth is that it may not be solved with just one piece of advice the advice will be often.Another important point is that you should not give them money, especially if you know they want to use it for gambling.

Its quite sad to be close to someone who's an addict, either to gambling or to drugs. Although being addicted to drugs might look rougher than betting but it is just not the nice thing you want to experience. An addict is always obsessed with the act and seeks little to no advise when making crucial decisions. It always look like they do not have the ample of time to think about their decisions before executing their plans because of the urge of engaging in the act. I wish he could have access to the account of the friend or walk to the bank and request the bank to lock the account so the friend cannot have access to his bank account, I will be so glad.

Just plain and simple - if they are your close friends, you can always tell them the repercussions of what they are doing to their hard-earned money. If they won't listen to you, then, whatever the aftermath of their actions, they should accept it. If they start borrowing money from you, you should be firm of not lending them the money. Because if they will see that they can borrow money from others, they will surely continue their vice. You need to set your boundaries as well being their friend. Not all the time you can lend them money, but you can always lend your ears and assist them in deciding what's best for their money.
They most likely know the repercussions of spending more than they're earning on gambling. I believe most people are able to recognize it themselves, even if they're addicted, and are aware that there's a great chance they'll blow away all their money without even realizing. As @BitMaxz already mentioned, that's full-blown addiction, they certainly know that they shouldn't be spending all their salary there, but don't really care. As the OP said, usually, they're getting it back, but till they don't, and eventually, it's bound to happen, it's simple statistics and probabilities. The main issue with addicted gamblers is that they believe that they'll always be ahead of the game, that they aren't going to lose and that they have everything under control. However, the rest of us know that this couldn't be any further from the truth.

How is it possible to spend more than what they earn? Those your friends are addicted gamblers and the best advice you can give is tell them to quit addiction, your advice may not work but i think self control and determination can also be a factor that could be considered to stop such unhealthy habits. Advising your friend to have more time outside gambling can help control their gambling habits, they can seek entertainment elsewhere, your friends takes gambling as a source of income which is real definition of addictive gambler.

That is the most stupid thing one person can do and there is no real motivation or logic behind such a reckless decision that stands. To not get financially drained there is only one thing a person can do, try to pay off his debt by saving a little from every salary until he makes it even to the person where he borrowed the money if he got to a person or to pay by little more installments if he used for example a pay it later card or credit card to become debt free, debt that he accumulated from this reckless behavior in gambling. I never do such a stupid thing although I know that when you are addicted you are tempted to do a lot of irrational and illogical decision that badly influence you as soon as that money is gone.

What would be your advice for such if they were to be your friends as a caring friend who want them to not get financially drained in the process?
It would seem that such a friend has gone past the stage of advising and is now in the slap-reset stage, where physical contact is involved, because I don't see how a person can be so sure to win based on bookmakers odds while throwing away caution to the wind and ignoring the effect of such irresponsible endeavor. It would be worse if such a friend has a family or bigger responsibility on their shoulders because whether they like to admit it or not, they would loss more than just bets but relationships and family and even get arrested and imprisoned for their irresponsible gambling behavior if care is not taken. Such a friend would need to be shown love before they listen and then if I am the one advising such a friend, would make them understand the impact of their gambling addiction and the strain it puts on our relationship, I would even go as far to help him/her reduce their excessive gambling by scheduling days and most important games to gamble on. A word they say is enough for the wise.

This is the worst habit. If they are your friends, it's truly sad. You should try to help them and alert them to their mistakes. However, you must be careful because such addicts become nervous when they lose, and you could lose their friendship as a result. Therefore, you must choose the right time to try to explain their mistake to them.
The saddest thing about such situations is that these addicts have families and children to support, and their bad habits can destroy their families.

If a gambler spends more than he earns, he will eventually fall into a disaster. Even if your friends who do this kind of work can survive temporarily, they will definitely suffer in the future. There is no guaranteed possibility of income in gambling. If a gambler loses several bets in a row, his true condition will be revealed very easily. It is better to manage gambling within your means than to gamble with such risks. If you can enjoy the pleasure of gambling gradually without being too greedy, it is possible to save the gambler from major losses. If a gambler spends 2-5% of their monthly income on gambling, it is not a problem for him, but when he loses more than this, it will play a serious negative role for him.

What would be your advice for such if they were to be your friends as a caring friend who want them to not get financially drained in the process? The bottom line is, don't worry about what isn't your problem, even if it's your friend's. We are each responsible for our own problems, both financial and otherwise. However, if you want to advise one of gambler, make sure you're not a gambler yourself, because you'll never be successful if you're a gambler yourself. While I'm sure fellow gamblers can sometimes exchange opinions, the advice they give each other often ends up being less than useful. I tend to believe that advice from non-gamblers to gamblers is often helpful and can change the mindset of some gamblers. However, it's important to understand that there are certain times when you can advise them and it shouldn't be done just anywhere.

People who gambles like this it is either they do not understand gambling or they are addicted to gambling because ignorance can make one to gamble with all the money they have thinking they can double up the money . Addiction can also make one to gamble uncontrollable, this is because they find difficult to quit even if they are losing in gambling. So, I will also say understanding can be another factor that can make one to gamble with all the money.

If they are getting money to gamble more than they are earning them maybe they didn’t tell you the exact amount they are earring or maybe the bet is paying them off and they are not telling you about it. In any case if they were to be my friend Would ask them to be sincere with me and tell me where the money they are using to game is coming from, and if it from them same gambling I would ask them for games too, who doesn’t want to make money? Nobody.
Another point is they might already be addicts and addicts will always look for means to gamble even if they would borrow they won’t mind, some might even end up selling their valuables just to gamble. I don’t have friends like that but I have see people like that and honestly it a very bad position to be in. If so then advise them which I know they won’t listen to because they are already addicts. But at the end you’ve played your part as a friend by advising them.

What would be your advice for such if they were to be your friends as a caring friend who want them to not get financially drained in the process?
if they are someone who you can reason with, just explain to them in a calmly non confrontational way, that they will never win gambling in the long run and that it's basically just donating money to a rich casino owner. instead they could spend that money on themselves and their family. if that does not work, i would try to scare them with real examples of people who ruined their life gambling (there's no shortage of this), lost their friends, their family and everything they care about. for many people that would be an enough of a wake up call, after all fear of lossing things you care about is a hell of a motivator. if that still does not work, then there is really nothing you can do. you can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves. maybe hitting rock bottom will be the wake up call they need. What would be your advice for such if they were to be your friends as a caring friend who want them to not get financially drained in the process?
How is it possible to spend more than what they earn? they probably take loans from people they know.

It is definitely a bad habit if someone gambles with the amount of money that he has no ability to earn. Gambling is not a means of income and no one can withdraw regular money from it no matter how much money he deposits. Those who do this are addicted gamblers and they can never improve their financial condition but gradually their debts will increase. And at one stage when they see that they have borrowed such an amount of money that they do not have the ability to repay and are confused about whether they will be able to repay it in the future, then they choose the path of suicide to escape all their responsibilities in a moment. So no one should have such a habit.
