As a friend, I naturally feel quite sorry for their gambling addiction, especially when they're risking more money than they earn. But frankly, arguing with gambling addicts is usually futile, because they rarely listen to advice. In fact, they often reject it, thinking everything is fine. So, if I were in their position, I probably wouldn't advise them too much. I'd let them learn from their own experiences, let them experience the consequences. Sometimes, only by "hitting the wall" can a person realize their mistakes, and let the universe teach them the lesson.
Well, you know that every human has different personality. If you advice some of them, they won't take the advice while some would also take the advice and even ask you the measure which they can adapt to help them stop being addicted. The person that refuses to take advice might not also learn from their harsh experience just as you have thought that they will learn from their bitter experience. So people would not take advice and would not feel the impact of their behavior until they have completely destroyed themselves. So, if you see who you can help, I think it's still nice to talk to them first.

It's hard to give advice to someone who isn't willing to listen. Your friends are probably already adults when it comes to gambling, and if they're not yet addicted, we can warn them that they're hurting themselves financially, but we have no control. This issue of spending more than you earn is bigger than just gambling; it's the main reason people are in debt.
Exactly, it's self-define situation which even how hard you explain and provide details about the risk if the person itself is unwilling to listen, and will continue whatever they are doing while inside gambling, there's nothing that you can do, spending more than you can afford to lose ads up to the potential aggressiveness that may feel and from that point it leads you to seek for more and chase for those amount then lose again additional amount that you can't let go.

Giving advice to someone who claims to know more than you or someone who is not interested in listening to you is just like flogging a dead horse because you will not get anything out of it and for a gambler who is spending more than he earns the best thing to do for her is to allow them to get the consequences of their actions when they go broke and stay in debts maybe they will be willing to listen to you and then you can assist them to get back to their normal life. Lessons learnt when wrong actions are taken can save someone from making a future mistake again in life.

So, if you see who you can help, I think it's still nice to talk to them first. Well, I think that for my friend to stake more than he earns it means that he’s actually earning a lot because I don’t see how someone will be able to stake more than he’s earning, where is he getting those money he used to stake with from. If actually those money he’s staking with are genuinely from his hustle or pocket without getting to borrow them then I don’t think I should advise him on what to do with his money. The only place I can come in and advise him is that if he’s borrowing or taking loans in order to stake or play gamble with the money. I will advice such person not to take a loan or borrow money for gambling sake because there’s a possibility that he’s going to lose the bet because it’s a 50-50 chance and if he gets to lose the bet then how will he be able to pay back the debt. It’s better that the money wasn’t a borrowed money, if the money is actually from his pocket then whatever the result is his business to handle, no pressure from anyone to pay back any money, because on a second thought what if he wins the bet, that means he will be twice richer, and if I’m the one who advised him not to gamble with such amount of money and eventually the bet was won, he will come to me and blame me for advising him not to gamble or stake high in order to be twice or thrice richer.

An addicted gambler must understand the depth of the hole he found himself in, having dug his own path of self-destruction there. And he should not pretend, but sincerely want to return the life he had before.

What would be your advice for such if they were to be your friends as a caring friend who want them to not get financially drained in the process?
I experienced this myself in the past using a bankroll amounting to my 1 month salary and bust it all. It’s mind boggling to accept the fact that I lose 1 month of my labor and I have hard time to move on by experiencing that. On this case, it seems the user is already doing it on regular basis as it’s already normal for him. I think regular advice won’t work for him if he can absorb this kind of risk. I believe he needs professional instead of an advice of a friend.

I got really worried over the habit of some friends who are into betting or gambling and how they often stake into a game in a week more than what they earn even in a month and most time are not able to get it back in a couple of plays. So it got me really worried and concerned
What would be your advice for such if they were to be your friends as a caring friend who want them to not get financially drained in the process?
I have been there. It's not much of an issue when you are young, free and no one is depended on you. I remember the first time I started real gambling, once I lost all my money sent by my parents for the month and I had nothing to eat for the rest. Even when I started earning, I once lost all my savings on a single day. The 2nd experience was an eye opener for me and I have ever since been a responsible gambler. They too would need such eye opening situation as they are not going to hear anyone out unless they experience it first hand.

The only real advice in a dramatic situation is to stop immediately, regain your financial strength to get by without spending extra money. For your physical and psychological well-being alone, dedicate time to exercise, and after a few months of healthy living, you'll feel regenerated. Then your conscience will decide whether to start gambling again, continue living a healthy and simple life, or even keep your addiction under control and gamble rarely. It all depends on the person; we're not all the same, but STOP immediately if you're in a deteriorating situation.

One important thing to have in gambling is discipline, this will always guide a gambler in all they do, discipline will help someone gamble with caution, it will help one know that there's nothing guarantee I mean discipline is generally good in gambling.

Just plain and simple - if they are your close friends, you can always tell them the repercussions of what they are doing to their hard-earned money. If they won't listen to you, then, whatever the aftermath of their actions, they should accept it. If they start borrowing money from you, you should be firm of not lending them the money. Because if they will see that they can borrow money from others, they will surely continue their vice. You need to set your boundaries as well being their friend. Not all the time you can lend them money, but you can always lend your ears and assist them in deciding what's best for their money.
People who are addicted are difficult to convince, I have come across the type of people that act like they are going to take your advice but when you leave them they proceed with bad habits. Lending money to addicted gamblers is actually a way enabling them to keep on doing the wrong thing. Depriving them of what they are asking for doesn't make you insensitive, this is a way to curb their addiction

The habit of someone who often gambles is quite difficult to advise; maybe occasionally he will listen to the advice we give, but when he is alone and feels bored, he will return to gambling. This could be because only gambling is able to entertain himself. But of course, someone like that is usually due to the lack of socializing with many people; therefore, to be able to minimize his habit gambling can only be done by oneself and one must be more accustomed to socializing with anyone

A chronic gambling addict needs only one thing immediately: moral support to quit gambling as soon as possible. Any other advice won't stop the problem, because as soon as he finds money in his hands, he spends it quickly without thinking. He has no control over his finances and could destroy those who help him by indulging him. As a friend, you have two options: stop him or stay away.
I can agree with you on this because what I would have said is for him to have a change of environment which includes people he deal with that serve as his cues to gambling or if he's an online gambler, he needs his phone to be checked, gambling contents wiped and phone screen time settings customized to disable or restrict gambling sites and contents so that he cannot find access to those contents that often serves as a cues to him. If he has a good loving wife, she should be encouraged to take charge of his finances for the meantime if possible until he stabilizes again. It is a psychological issue that requires a thorough restrictions to a lot of things that could most likely bring his brain back to the gambling game again including those things that will remind him of the gambling game.

Many gamblers live in self-denial. They would never accept that they have a problem. I know some of them who will seek different excuses for their unhealthy habit. If you encounter anyone who accepts that he has a problem, his path towards redemption is 50% achieved. Apart from fueling the person's addiction, it might be difficult to get back the loan since gambling outcomes are not predictable.

Any gambler that can't control himself by gambling responsibly can't take any advice that is given to him because to such a person the people giving him advice actually disturbing him.

Staking more than what you earn is really a bad idea, you should bet with just little percentage of your income, if you betting with all your salary, then something is wrong. You might be staking with high amount of money, and you might be winning, but just imagine when you are going to lose, how are you going to recover the money back, or how are you going to survive that month? because you have already gambled with everything and you already lost everything. Seriously I don’t like the idea, and people that do things like this are likely to get addicted to gambling easily, it’s not really a good habit. What would be your advice for such if they were to be your friends as a caring friend who want them to not get financially drained in the process?
You just have to advise them to be cautious of how they gamble, they should have a gambling budget which shouldn’t be so much, and they should never exceed their budget. All what you can do is just to advise them, it’s left for them to listen to you, because you can’t force them. If they are convinced that what they doing is wrong, then they going to take correction.

If it doesn’t work out at the end then you know you did your part.. Fine , you want them to learn the hard way, a lot of people might have did same thing (I.e tried advising ) but who knows your might just be different. Don’t be surprised that when they finally got the consequences of their action it might still affect you indirectly (somehow), don’t ask me how, so don’t think they aren’t your problem.

Indeed, it takes only an addicted gambler who has actually realized that they're doing something bad and genuinely wanna change or break free from it, else no matter the amount of advice or help they try to give him, it'll all still turn out to be futile and wasted effort. I've seen lots of cases where people failed to even realize or admit that they're addicted, let alone attempt seeking help, and even when you try to tell them or even advice, they might even feel offended. All gamblers realize they have an addiction - but they're reluctant to admit it publicly. Admitting an addiction is pointless and some will judge them negatively - but it's essential for those who want to make changes, especially if they want to reduce their gambling intensity. If making a statement about addiction is important - then perhaps it is the first step to recovering from out-of-control gambling.

Me too and that's not new. The admission that they're addicted is hard to bear and that's why they are in denial phase. But the time will come to these gambling addicts that they'll realize on how addicted they are already and have ignored people who warned them.
