The Avalon Mini 3 is what I have currently as a home miner, and so far it is running quite ok (knock the wood).
Small down sides are annoying "rattle noise" from the heat output protection steel net in "Mining"-mode and the lack web GUI (you can only meddle it with the android phone app "Avalon Family").


I hope the hardware lasts a little better than in Antminer R4 I had in the past. They had few hashboards going broken.

I think Avalon has it best currently in 1kW ish range.
For other home miner sizes GekkoScience are known to be good and handy.

The rattle noise is more noticeable when there is no movement around your home, mostly at night, I am someone who likes reading books in the night closer to my bed and I have this miner running on a shelf next to my table, that noise is so annoying, I thought it was my own mini 3 doing the weird noise but I feel a bit at ease reading your comment, it is so annoying.

I remember returning few Graphics card back to Amazon because of their crazy coil whining things but I can't return my mini 3 miner because I don't purchase through amazon but straight from China.

I also considered the Canaan Avalon Q, which I believe is the better hardware choice, but FutureBit is easier to buy from because it's based in the US.

including a web browser GUI!

Canaan, you should maybe more promote the FW updates for these Home series gear.

Yeah a gui on the web hardwired via eth cable is pretty much a must for me.

I do DIY with bitmain boards.

It does, since it has the web browser GUI.
But functions there are limited and sadly it doesnt have all same things than the android app.
The android app also works with this new fw, so I recommend you to try the update

The Avalon Q is the best home miner in my opinion, due to low noise, good efficiency and can be run off 120v. Very happy with my purchase.

I have mine running upside down to keep the heat away from the psu

running on standard very quiet, 78.75 TH/s 

running on super still quiet but louder 92.63 TH/s  (when I say quiet It's nothing like the fan noise I use to get from my Bitmian S9)

Here is the latest mini miner that I got delivered at my home few days ago, I am adding more to my collection as we are heading into 2026, I might end up with 10 pieces of this NerdAxe++ in no time. The only Canaan miner I have running right now is the Avalon Q and I don't plan on getting another, even on this one I have to run max when the sun is up and go lowest when the sun is down.

To safe my backup {Lithium battery} from running down very fast I have to run on low performance mode for the night, it's like a asic miner made specifically for my needs.
