As long as the address is supported. Sometimes wallets can adopt some new address standards that the exchange does not yet support, but usually you should be able to find old address formats too.

No, they don't get any information from this other than what is publicly available on the blockchain. If you put in an address that has funds or had previous transactions, of course they will see them as everyone else can see them too.

No the exchange cannot know if you are using a hardware wallet or any other type of wallet.
They can only say that if your address is a segwit or non-segwit address which won't really matter.
Whether it be hardware wallet or hot wallet or any cold storage, none of them give out the wallet details.

Basically, when you provide your public address to an exchange, the exchange only knows your public address and transaction history visible on the blockchain (due to its transparent nature). The exchange cannot know which wallet you are using (such as Metamask, Trust Wallet, Ledger, etc.). The exchange only knows the address you provided and the related transactions, but it cannot access the details of the wallet you use or your seed phrase. Nope, even the hardware wallet firms suffered data breach, they still not able to know if your address belong to specific hardware wallet because your wallet generated randomly. Anyway what's the point for someone to know the wallet you use because even they know it, they can't hack your wallet.

If the wallet is open source, they can see every codes in public.

No the crypto exchange cannot detect which type of wallet you have your address on the only thing that they would see is the transaction history of that address which is show the total bitcoin on that address and also all the addresses that it has interacted with.

But even though it is impossible to actually get to know the type of wallet the address is on it is possible to know if it belongs to an exchange and the type of exchange it does belongs to. This is because once you send your bitcoin into the address the exchange immediately transfers it to its cold wallet address and through chain analysis it is easy to know the exchange since exchange addresses are usually publicly announced.

So for exchange it is possible but it is not possible for wallets

If the exchange supports the address you have given then you don't have any problem but from my time and experience I haven't not noticed any exchange that doesn't support such an address like yours, but it is best to be safe so yes I think your question is valid and to further your understanding you should also learn to do your research on things like this so you have a wider knowledge.

Not really.... I think only if you give them your public keys they'll be able to know your seed type or method of generation something like BIP39 or standard ELECTRUM seeds. That aside,if you are sending just your address then all they know is the type of address, better still you should use different address as you receive continuously.

This is to prevent address reuse as it can be used to map out your coins. You can also send coins out of the hardware wallet only it's more complex and you'll need to have a watch only on a device with internet to create and later broadcast the transaction.

Whatever is public could be visible to anyone, which means usually your public key/address and transaction details of that address will be visible to anyone. So unless you tag the address, no one can see the address from where or which wallet. Like Exchange, you can tag the address as well, but I don't know how to do it. For example, you may see Binance hot wallet, which means it has been tagged by Binance. So you shouldn't worry about your privacy; it's protected unless someone knows what kind of wallet or address you have been using.

Yes, the exchange and the tax authority can connect all the transfers that come into contact with that address, so they can also know your wallet balance if you have deposited all your funds into a single address.

And which wallet is irrelevant here, it's just the wallet software that we use in different modes but eventually all of them do the same and one who have the keys will have access to the address and all others can just watch it.

Nope, they can’t…I believe you’re asking about the software or hardware.
Your address can only partly indicates the locking script your wallet uses(some wallets offer more than one address type through different derivation paths)..You see, the address prefix shows the type of address so anyone can guess that by just seeing it, but no one can tell what software or hardware you’re using to hold your sats just from the address.

If you don't use web3 exchanges that support web3 wallets, you can not connect your hardware wallet to that exchange and trade or do anything else directly.

You only can send your btc or etc from that hardware wallet to an address on your account in that exchange, and wait for the exchange to credit your deposit to your account. After that, you can start trading on that exchange, and withdraw your cryptocurrency out of it if you want, and if that exchange does not scam you.

Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts.

Its hard to understand what he is asking exactly. Is it talking about a centralized exchange like Binance or is he talking about a Defi exchange such as Pancakeswap using a browser wallet such as Metaswap.

If you are using a CEX then any wallet will work, just need to generate the BTC or ETH address first and then just withdraw from the CEX to those addresses.

But if you are using for Defi then keep in mind that you cant do much with BTC really onchain. Sure there are ordinals and such but its nothing compared to ETH, ETH L2 networks like Arbitrium or Solana. With ETF you can use the cold hardware wallet to sign transactions as you make them on exchanges such an Pancakeswap or Uniswap. And you use a wallet such as Metamask or Phantom and nobody knows whether you are using cold stroage or not.

You can use any wallet that can generate an address. You can think of the address like your bank account number  it belongs only to you. On exchanges, you simply provide your address and request a withdrawal to it.
We should only use Bitcoin-only hardware wallets like Coldcard Mk4 or Q, or Blockstream Jade or Jade Plus, because they are much more secure than crypto wallets that support shitcoins and have larger firmware and more attack surfaces.There’s no real reason to hold anything long-term except Bitcoin. Everything else is basically a shitcoin centralized, premined, with high inflation.ETH and other shitcoins are only good for short-term speculation no smart person is actually holding that stuff long-term. The longer you hold them, the more value you lose. With Bitcoin, it’s the opposite the longer you hold it, the more your purchasing power increases.

AFAIK. Nope, they have no idea of what type of wallet you're using if you give them your address. I guess that you're so concerned with your privacy and this question has been made in your mind. So your thought process them having an idea of what kind of wallet you use, there is no need to be worried about it because there is no way for them to know it unless there's that tool that make them determine that or you're going to tell that to them upon KYC interview or such.

Maybe you meant ETH? I also think his second question is the important question. I'm sure some web3 websites do collect data from your activity, not sure if it can reveal what cold wallet you use or something else though. It's safe to assume they'll collect the address and your IP at least, regardless of their promise for privacy.

Just don't make things so complicated for you just send your Bitcoin and ETH (I assume you men that coin) directly to those exchange so that you won't get any problem if you want to trade.

Also most provably they won't see on where you send those funds. Since what those exchange could see is the public address on where the funds came from, network fee, time stamp and amount also the hash.

I don't know why why you are so conscious with this since less people care about those things

Your BTC or ETH wallet address is only linked to the blockchain not to a specific hardware or even software wallet. So the answer is obviously no. Reason been that no exchange sees the type of wallet used by mere looking at the address. As long as your hardware wallet supports the coin and you use the correct address type, you can safely withdraw from any exchange to the wallet.
