I agree that there are gamblers who doesn't treat it as an escape but treats more of a business and source of income.

You just broke down every niche that erupts the habit of gambling... You're right for this, but there's nothing else one can do to stop any of these as long as they keep gambling; they can only control how much of everything they find themselves doing in the casino, but they can't just gamble without a purpose.

Overall, it's best that we understand the implications of going too far, and how heavy the price to pay is.. If it begins to get ugly, quit and replace it with something more soothing.

Sorry but I disgree, in all the four Es you mentioned and the explanation of what their true meaning is, I learnt that only one is correct, and that is "Excess", when people gamble excessively, they definitely end up getting addicted, this one is right but the others are simply wrong..

I will run through each of it again for you..
1. Escape - people finding escape from daily stress from work and others through gambling does not make them automatically addicted to gambling, especially when they are gambling responsibly, excessive or irresponsible gambling is what leads to addiction.
2. Esteem - I don't even understand how or what esteem got to do with gambling, but I know that finding value in winning from gambling and as well, material things does not automatically lead to gambling addiction.
3. Excitement - there is no way a person would get excited from gambling and do not know how to stop, it makes absolutely no sense, even if the person is excited for winning, the  winning streak doesn't last forever, loses will come and the excitement will fade away, this doesnt lead to addiction either, again, irresponsible and or excessive gambling is the only E here that surely leads to addiction.

Think critically about that point he made about escape,..even though it doesn't make make them addicted automatically it can start gradually....remember that an habit is not developed in a day but it take a lot of time before it becomes a dependency issue..when gambling is used as an escape just like a drug it's done so they can distract their mind either from depression or stress but based on the fact that it's temporal this makes them repeating the cycle

And does it mean you don't know that people can still get addicted to gambling even though they can gambling as a means of entertainment as well?
Being a greedy person as a gambler simply means you are never satisfied no matter how much you win, and like you said, this can lead one to becoming a gambling addict, we know this but you saying we can not over come this due to its temptation is a lie, falling into any temptation is always a choice we make ourselves though sometimes and under some certain type of circumstances, choosing otherwise may be very difficult, but still having a choice is simply having a choice.

I will agree mostly with the concept of excitement because indeed that is the experience of some persons of which I happen to witness it at a time,indeed people does get excited and know not when to stop because for them they can continue winning and so if they have to keep winning they have to keep playing meanwhile they forget that they only will be able  to achieve that of they are disciplined enough  to control themselves, the excitement they get from a few wins can be push to further engage and end up meeting your doom at times.

I think the most important factor in gambling addiction is Excessive emotions and excitement. A person becomes addicted to gambling due to excessive gambling and the desire to get extra money. Those who do not gamble due to excessive emotions and the desire to get extra money they are not addicted to gambling can always gamble responsibly and accept gambling responsibly, but those who gamble irresponsibly and are greedy for making a lot of money from gambling quickly become addicted to gambling.

I think that is part of gambling itself, we can't mentioned gambling in terms of losing without involving our emotions. And it's part of us being human, we have emotions and feelings and not all of them feeling are good.

Like you mentioned in greed, we can't be satisfied of our winnings. There are times that we have won decent money and yet we don't want to quit or we don't have control of ourselves as we keep on betting. But the bad thing is that when things goes sour, we started to lose until such time that everything is gone.

Maybe if we consider it entertain then we might satisfied. But admit it or not, most of us want to win money.

And a solution letter D can be applied as a rescue way form all the challenges, which is Discipline, a gambler that understands how to behave and discipline himself in gambling will always make the right choices in it, he wont overdo or take actions in a wrong approach, even though its lots of excitements that we have in it, we still also have to remember that the way we behave our normal days life also have something to do with how we gamble, because either directly or indirectly, it will reflect and that also can constitute to what we get into gambling from our behaviours.

Yes, I agree and this make a lot of sense... I just want to add that they are unlikely to appear on isolation at gamblers, like... those seeking an escape end up engaging on excess or getting carried away by excitement. There are several factors that is closely interconnected, and one will always "feed" the other and making addiction a very strong cycle of dependence... I think that is why its so difficult to cure.

And you see... these characteristics are not an exclusive to gambling, but rather a pattern found in any other addiction, and I think that's good because it allows it to be treated by any professional... it doesnt need to be a psychologist specializing at gambling addiction, right?

We all have one or two reasons to why we are gambling, and that is where the aspect of individual difference being mentioned comes in, some will do the same thing others do and regret it, while in some cases, it may be a scale through for others, we should not always compare ourselves with others, because that may be their own gambling habit and we don't know how they are faring in managing up with themselves with that, so that we don't lead ourselves into something else by trying to please, imitate or use a particular approach to gambling from what others are also using.

It is true that there is a risk of losing money through gambling. Gambling is basically about making money for entertainment or getting rich quick, gambling is not at all right, which increases the risk of losing money. I think gambling is not right for everyone, basically only those who have a reasonable income should play, Gambling should be done with money that you can afford to lose and that will not cause you any financial problems in the future, so that you do not put any financial pressure on yourself. If someone gambles according to the right rules, then they have self-control over themselves and the risk of losing money can be reduced to a large extent. Greed blinds people and they do not understand what is right, so it is possible to reduce the risk by managing gambling by controlling emotions and greed.

Limits are very important when it comes to gambling to avoid spending too much. OP did good at pointing out those E's, and it might help a gambler learn from those things that were said.

Getting too excited could really be a big trouble for us. Honestly, I am one who got caught by that kind of trap. I won big multipliers playing slots, and then suddenly I won't win anything anymore. That's me getting excited that I might hit another big multiplier but the truth is, I just got lucky and there's a chance it won't happen again for a very long time.

You don't mean that mate, not everyone lack the ability and power to control themselves while gambling most times what make it looks as if we lack the ability to control our gambling habit it the level at which we allow our greed to control our actions this is the main reason why it may look as if we are not in control of our gambling activities but some gamblers still have that ability.
