If scammers no rest, we sef no go rest by creating awareness about their new and latest strategy. Some few months back, someone raised alarm in one of the crypto groups I belong to claiming that he made a P2P transaction and everything went smoothly and successfully. After a few weeks, he was debited the same amount from his Opay account with a reversal status. He rush to check Opay notifications and then discovered that Opay earlier notified him that the sender reported the transaction he carried out on P2P as erroneous transactions and he failed to respond to the queries which made Opay to automatically refund the sender. I read his story with convincing proofs that time (early this year) but I ignored since it's a rare case. Recently, I have come across multiple similar complain from regular and business Opay users of having same issues. I'm sharing this here because I believe majority of us here are using Opay and carry out P2P transactions frequently. I believe scammers wey full P2P now go soon dey do this, if e never start sef be that. Here's how they do it: The prospective scammer will send you money They report the transaction as error transaction giving excuse like wrong number or whatever Opay will notify you via Inapp notification and sometimes via email too (Some people don't check their notifications or email regularly) You'll be given one week (seven days) to refund the money or prove the transaction was actually not an error transaction. If you failed to refund/prove within the stated time, you'll lose the money to scammers because Opay will debit you and refund them. How to avoid this drama? Regularly check your notifications and email attached to your account Respond accordingly with every fact available (in case it happens) Ask the sender to write the purpose of transaction in the narration space. Some banks won't allow you to proceed without filling the narration space (Kuda is a good example). Since Banks flagged transactions/accounts with crypto related terms, you can tell the sender to write your name in the narration. It'll be difficult to claim it's erroneous transactions when your name is in the narration. If you already experienced this, please tell us how it ended. If you never experienced am, stay safe out there and shine your eyes because these scammers no dey get joy. Na scammers and beggers full Bybit now targeting who go fall for dem trap.

I believe sae, na opay to opay transaction this kind thing go fit happen. No be opay to other banks.
I d surprised to hear this kind thing. Is it because I no d use opay, na normal well known bank I d use concerning my crypto transactions.
Nevertheless, this na an eye opener for those wey d use opay, for them to learn a lesson before it happen to them cos em no make sense sae, you receive money for your opay finish, you later been debit of that same amount just because peso wey send you money report sae erroneous transaction wey em do.
My advice to opay users, make them use normal banks wey we know(First bank, Access, FCMB, Union etc) to run their crypto transactions than for them to use Opay wey this kind situation go fit happen to them without them knowing on time.

All my time using pay, I don experience two times credit alert wey no be my own, the first one was earlier this year when I see a credit alert of 7k by after 11pm in the night, when I check, I see the person name but no be person I know, though a number call me after, but I no respond to all him call because e dy late, in the morning I call back the number, na their i discover say na pos boy we send am to my account out of carelessness, I just tell am to dy careful next time, and i refund am.
Then the second one be say I see a credit alert of 92k from an unknown account number, and since no be number I fit call, I just relax and wait for a call, my brother that money stay for my hand for like five days, it was later I got a notification from opay asking if truly am the one that initiate such transaction or not, i just believe say the sender fit don report the transaction since my brother been don do something like that before when him send to the wrong account, i just accept am as an error transaction, na so opay debit the exact money from my account wey them been send come to my account, from then till now, I never experience such again. I know say that person go don really do fasting and pray make i accept say na error transaction because 92k no be small money, and to be honest I no even think to use that money because I believe say who God wan bless, no be through wayo or wuruwuru way him go use bless the person.

Imagine you finish trading P2P and the merchant pull up this scam, how do you make your proves, knowing fully that Opay and the rest fintech are not okay with anything affiliated to crypto.
If you give out informations to justify won't Opay seize the funds?
Now we are having more downside using fintech receiving payment from P2P, normal banks also have own trick that they apply to scam users, i still think we can cope, before selecting merchant to trade with, try selecting those with good ratings, at least you can know when to judge in case of any gone wrong.

Happened to one of my colleagues, this why I always advice you poeple only trade with Verified vendors. It cost so much to report a transaction and still get a court order within 24hrs which is not cheap to placed a lien on someone's account for erroneous transfer but I still wonder why they do it. They understand that Banks do not query crypto related transactions so they do this knowing you can't go to bank to prove it was a legit transaction. If you found yourself in this situation you either abandon the account or you go to the bank and report transaction, give them details and let CBN freeze both the sender and receiver accounts for engaging in crypto transactions. Make una two go down.

This is so worisome, opay on their own is making whole lot of mistakes in this, just imagine this was to be done normal banks, so you mean someoone can reports that he or she made a mistake in the account number and may be because the receiver in question did not respond to the email or message sent to him or her by opay, the money he receives earlier will get reversed back to the scammer, if this continues, opay will start losing customers because people will start making using of normal banks account number as it was before or choose other fintechs if they don't do this because this is rubbish, bybit has now become scammers house everyone should be very careful so that they don't fall victim of many nonsense going on there.

This is a sad incident because ordinary users will lose their money if such an incident happens. Although I have not used it yet, I know a little about its transactions. Personally, I don't like it. I transact directly with the bank. The only reason I do bank transactions is that I feel they are safe. Those who use Opay must be careful so that spammers do not exploit it. We all know that many types of scams happen nowadays. These incidents are warning us every moment. Through this warning, we will all make each other aware so we are not harmed.
Happened to one of my colleagues, this why I always advice you poeple only trade with Verified vendors. It cost so much to report a transaction and still get a court order within 24hrs which is not cheap to placed a lien on someone's account for erroneous transfer but I still wonder why they do it.

I say something about the incident that happened with your colleague. Did your classmate get it back later or not? The two things you said are correct. If you think there is a problem, close the account and freeze the accounts of both the sender and the recipient involved in the transaction. My point is, how long can you keep the account open and run away like this? Of course, if there is a bank problem, you have to report it and do the bank transactions very carefully. And you have to be very aware of yourself so that you don't face such losses in the future. I think it's better to turn around and move forward with awareness than to run away.

Hahaha, I don Laff tire ooo. I swr, no be small fasting and prayer. Tank God say u no lie ooo, if not, by now, u for don loose all your money from scammers. Lol. It's a good message from the OP, Weldon✌️. It's a call for us to be more careful and vigilant before, during and even after our transactions. Opay users should also do well to check the notification once in a while. It's nothing bad and does no harm. Information they say is power, so it's also good such notifications are opened and read, even if it's not for scam awareness, but at least to get the informations from the Opay team about any new upgrade or whatsoever. It's well oo, scammers no won give up. We just need to be wise

Am not a victim of these and have never been into this kind of mess before, all I know is that if someone sends a transaction and it wasn't successful, then you try to write to the bank for a dispute using their app, they will reverse your fund to you, but in the case of a successful transaction and it got confirmed, I don't think it's proper of them to have such access if reversing the transaction back to the sender after a wrong proof, they would have freeze the account is even more better than taking money out without owner's consent and what would have happened if the recipient already spent his money.

Before Opay will agree that a transaction is eronorous the both numbers has to be very identical because if the difference are much, Opay will let you know that it is not an eronorous transaction. They don't just treat every transaction reported as erroneous to be true. There was a time I was making a transaction and I mistakenly sent it to a different number.
I reported the transaction as erroneous, I was asked to provide the number I intended sending to, and they said the numbers are not identical to be erroneous transaction and the request wasn't treated. And also before Opay will reverse the money, the account owner will approve the transaction. If the account owner don't want to approve the transaction, the reversal won't be approved.
Also I don't think this tool is only to aid scammers. There can be genuine people who mistakenly sent money to people who share identical numbers and they will want to get their money back.

You know this is what most persons are doing for a living now which is very bad, and sometimes I dey always ask myself if this people actually get conscience or human feelings if not tell me why someone will intensionally want to collect money from someone in a deceitful way. We go just dey very careful especially in the Crypto space because them know say na there them go use catch plenty people and the thing be say, e dey easy to fool person wey be newbie, person wey never really get idea about Crypto kind of stuff but the more they are advancing the more we also are advancing and we should not always allow greed to lead us.

I believe sae, na opay to opay transaction this kind thing go fit happen. No be opay to other banks.
It can also happen with Opay to Kuda, Opay to moniepoint and Opay to Palmpay, most especially all this online banks. Because I have actually experience this unauthorized debit from my account before, and that was from my Kuda account. And how this happened was that I actually made a p2p trade and the person that was supposed to pay me paid me twice without knowing due to network error, and few hours later, when I logged in my Kuda, I noticed the money has double, and me ignorantly back then don happy, not knowing it was going to cause me big problem. Because the p2p vendor on Binance reported the trade and also reported the case to Opay, and Opay sent message to Kuda for the duplicate error, and Kuda sent me message both on the app and Gmail, but since I'm not used to checking notifications, it expired and the exact amount was deducted both from my Binance account and Kuda. And it took me almost a month before I was able to resolve the issue with Kuda and Binance, before the fund was later released. And it was only after that incident I knew that you can report a transaction and it will be reversed, most especially if it's a duplicate error on any of these online banks like Opay, Kuda, Palmpay and Moniepoint.

He chatted up the customer care service so they told him that someone took a court order to revise the last amount he received, so they reviewed the amount that was reported, he went on to p2p to trace the vendor, chatted them on Whatsapp and asked why they reported a successful transaction after taking his coins. The vendor denied so he was asked to chat up Opay customer service to withdraw the restrictions he refused. He then asked my colleague to fund his account and refund the money and went ahead to block him on Whatsapp. The only way is to report the transaction and send evidence of payment to his bank so they can freeze both accounts but he hasn't taken any decisions yet.

One of my friend don relate me this kind matter before. I don even talk with one lawyer on something like this and e talk say, na the easiest way to recover money even if it was purposeful. Laying that claim when e be say, na the first time you Dey work with that account, e get high chances of you getting your money back because, error transactions Dey happen normally and na for banks to intervene. Scammers don Dey leverage on this thing Dey use chop people, especially when na big money involve. Omo, when you be person way Dey do one or twos for the online space, to Dey read notification and checking mails no suppose Dey hard you o. In fact, make am necessary to check even your spam mails cef, e get why. Some of these things Dey just go hide for there and you no go get signal. That name format for narration na another creative idea towards solving this wahala, nice one.

Happened to one of my colleagues, this why I always advice you poeple only trade with Verified vendors. It cost so much to report a transaction and still get a court order within 24hrs which is not cheap to placed a lien on someone's account for erroneous transfer but I still wonder why they do it.
This particular one no dey cost much to do because you don't need court order before reporting erroneous transactions. You only need court order in the case of Internet fraud and account theft issues. The scammers rely on chances here hoping you won't notice the notification to counter their claims. If they are lucky you didn't notice it and the ultimatum expired, they automatically succeed. If you noticed it and counter the allegation, that's when Opay will request for additional information from them to prove their claim. At this point, they'll abandon the case and claim the issue already sorted out. It's purely a game of chance and na why I advise our people to be regularly checking their notifications. Yahoo dun hard so now na P2P scam them all dey do and since the country no dey reason crypto scams like that, the scammers know that the victims can't do much because anything wey you do na yourself go dey put for trouble. Some vendors are purposely on P2P just to scam people and I hear say dem dey create fake impressions by boosting their numbers of trade (allegedly) just the way developers dey create fake review for playstore. Again, majority of verified vendors no dey accept lower amount trades, dem dey set their limit at high amount. The simple ways to avoid this drama is to use a different bank from the one they're sending from. If they are sending from Opay, you should use Palmpay to receive and vice versa. Unfortunately, this option will not work because the account is already bound to your exchange account and you won't even know which banks they'll be sending from. In this case, we are only left with one option. Tell them to write your name in the narration else you won't release the coin. With your name in the narration, you're a step ahead of them even if they end up reporting the transaction.

That is not possible on Bybit since you need to complete a trade to be able to give feedbacks and it's not like you can send your friends your vendor tag to fake trade, theses trades are random in a way you can't trade with the same vendor twice in a week. The simple ways to avoid this drama is to use a different bank from the one they're sending from. If they are sending from Opay, you should use Palmpay to receive and vice versa. Unfortunately, this option will not work because the account is already bound to your exchange account and you won't even know which banks they'll be sending from. You can't tell which Bank they're paying from until you initiate trade. Igebotz colleague might not be receiving email notifications and how many people constantly check their mails? Personal I don't pay to many attention to my bank mails.
