According to the complaint lodged by Vikash Jhawar, a resident of AE Block in Salt Lake, he first got in touch with the woman, who introduced herself as Aadhya Gupta, on Facebook. After several days of interaction and conversations online, the woman suggested that Jhawar invest in a cryptocurrency platform promising unusually high returns.

Believing the opportunity to be genuine, Jhawar began investing in the platform starting from July 17. Over a period of time, he transferred Rs 3.8 crore in multiple tranches, using RTGS transfers from his bank accounts. He was further encouraged to borrow additional money from friends and relatives to continue investing, as the platform presented itself as highly profitable.

and here's his words quoted in the news post:

"I started investing funds in this platform through multiple RTGS transfers from my bank accounts. I also borrowed money from my friends and relatives to invest more because the platform promised attractive returns," he wrote in his plaint.

 

and the headlines call it 'crypto scam' .. but why is it a crypto scam? no crypto was involved in this scam. it is just a fraud.

aunties falling for 'committee' scams is understandable because most of them are just housewives who don't know much about the world

but being a businessman & doing a 4 crore crypto love investment after meeting someone on facebook is just premium comedy

Romance scam or dating scam is very common all over the world and they target the middle aged wealthy men as their prey because they will fall for girls who try to show some kind of love and care.

And this is not some small issue, it is operated by organized scam centres from Cambodia/Myanmar and even many Indians are forced to work as cyber slaves in those centres. And media knows shit that is why they call it as crypto scam.

I still follow the "everyone is a man on internet unless you know them in real life" rule.

But loneliness is a problem in the current world and not having that physical connection leads to these type of problems. Lack of places to go to, lack of families staying together and easy access to internet are a recipe for such scams.

One can just make themselves aware and avoid such scams.

Wow, this must be the height of falling for a online girl. I am pretty much sure that it was not even a girl but a fake profile.
Those fraudsters must be having a fortune now because 3.8 crore is not a small amount in India.
One can live his entire life on that sort of amount. Unfortunately, it's a huge loss for the businessman. He felt for such a lame scam.

Those fraudsters must be having a fortune now because 3.8 crore is not a small amount in India.

Most often it is not a fake profile but under fake identity, there will be multiple people involved in this including girl in case if they ask for a call (video call) and when these scammers uses who thought they are hired to work as a model now are trying to lure the men into these traps and apart from this there will be whole team behind and watches every move the person makes, when they are vulnerable that is when they set the launch time.

3.8 crore is surely a huge amount but this is like basic because I remember someone lost in millions of dollars for the dating scam.

Yep, if they want to fight thins then they need to be ready to face their reputation gets ruined completely by the media because these are hot spicy news for the attention seeking media and they won't hesitate to say anything and even bring the family into this matter to increase the TRP that is why they try to approach without any formal complaint and that leaves to nothing for them.

Tbh, It's great injustice in our parts that we see Kamasutra as only sexual stuff, thanks to west misappropriation and we somehow managed to corrupt this text. In fact, sexual stuff is just small part of it and it mainly talks about how to maintain life, approach towards relationship and so on.

But our so called modern sanskari log messed up. It should have been included in humanities from start.

yes, have u ever tried tinder in india? i have.. all u'd find is pimp n pros. no actual dates. maybe in metro cities u might but not elsewhere.

i think we need more education in india about bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general,, maybe some sort of "jaago grahak jaago" drive

to let ppl know the genuine ways of investing in bitcoin & crypto whilst avoiding these fraudsters

but it is impossible without govt. initiative and framework which our govt. seem to not want to bring:

Even I used to watch Shaktiman when I was a child and my brother used to collect Shaktiman cards as well.
Our childhood days were really just awesome. Our generation is probably the last generation who played without having cellphones.
On the other hand, I have heard of tango app while I was scrolling through an adult site.
Kind of knew it was something similar to onlyfans and tinder. There are honestly many sites these days where girls show themselves up just for few money.

I went to a temple and there were guards not allowing people go inside as the time to enter was over  there were mid aged and old famlies and a bunch of guys .
We all tried tried tried but he did not allowed .
Then comes a beautiful girl she slowly talked with the guys in a flirty yet sad way . Those guards offered her water and slowly when no one was noticing allowed her to get inside .

Fun part is I saw them and raised my voice I said sale ladki baaz  usko pani de raha hai aur humko tevar dikha raha hai .

OMG, that's a big old style of scam .
But it is just a fraud as you said and not a crypto scam. The scammer just lured the victim by projecting promising returns in cryptos but cryptos were not involved anywhere. The transactions were done using RTGS so banks were involved and not cryptos. The amount was quite big and I don't think it will be that difficult to track the scammer, so called - Aadhya Gupta. To be honest, this name itself seems scammy enough for me. . I feel like it was just mistyped. It should have been Aaradhya and not Aadhya :p

These frauds are pretty common in India anyways. Such scammers will target old rich men who have a lot of money but are lonely in their lives. Somewhere, I feel bad for the victim.

I agree with @Lucyfurr, but it's never been easy to do things legally in this region because mostly rules and laws favor the upper class which still exist and are used to maintain power if someone from a poor background does something wrong they can be punishable even by death because their crime is not easily forgotten in this society even their own class rarely accepts their apologies and teases them until death.

I believe, even if prostitution becomes legal, there will be people who will still rape others.
There will be people who will misuse their power towards those who are under them.
Cities like Mumbai and Pune have brothels but still have rape cases on regular basis.
