When I first discovered Bitcoin, every move in price felt like a life-changing event. A $500 drop made me panic, a $1,000 pump made me think I was set for life. Over time, though, the way I look at it has changed.

These days, I see Bitcoin less as a quick way to make money and more as a long-term habit. I don’t check the charts constantly anymor, it just sits there like a piece of my financial routine, the same way people contribute to a pension or keep a savings account.

What’s interesting is how the excitement has shifted. For me, it’s no longer about chasing the next all-time high, but watching how Bitcoin slowly becomes part of everyday conversations, companies, and even policies. It feels less like an experiment now, and more like something permanent.

I’m curious if others here have gone through the same cycle, from price obsession to simply viewing Bitcoin as part of the background of life.

This is me exactly now. I’m too tired on checking the price chart frequently after many year of monitoring the price action. Checking price chart and look the price now compared to when I started investing Bitcoin shows that I will have more profit if I do hold only and stop trading that frequently gives me lose for the sake of earning more during the price action of Bitcoin.

Right now, I only hold my Bitcoin on cold wallet and slowly stack whenever there’s a price drop. I stop checking my total investment or when there’s a price changes. Only sharp drop is what I’m looking for since that’s the only time I accumulate more slowly.

You are not alone, I think most newbies had the same experience.  In my early days, I would also check my wallet to see the price movements. My heart would skip when the price dropped drastically, and it would affect my mood. Anger and regret will become the order of the day. But a rise will make me happy and fulfilled. I also suspected that reading from some sources that promote fud contributed to my attitude.

As my understanding of the crypto industry kept growing, I now knew that long-term hodlers don't always need to check chats or prices. You just have a plan, set targets, and relax. Traders might have to consistently monitor prices but it's not necessary for someone who is keeping his coins for a long time.

If you are living with Bitcoin ups and downs over long time, years, your life will be damaged. It's not easy to live such a stressful life with Bitcoin volatility if you borrow money in margins, futures for your leveraged trading positions, or if you took loan and use that loan money as investment capital. You never know what movement Bitcoin will have next, so stress will always occur in your head and it destroys your life.

Furthermore, Bitcoin market volatility and uncertainty can cause liquidation on your leveraged positions, and you will lose money, not your own money but loan and it makes your ending more terrible.

Don't live with ups and downs, don't trade. Let's switch your interest to investment, with your own money.

I first heard about Bitcoin, I think, back in 2012 on som forum. Someone posted an affiliate link to an exchange and said that everyone should buy Bitcoin because it was something important and would be worth a lot more. I remember clicking the link, seeing the price was around $12, and then leaving the site thinking, What kind of nonsense is this? Someone just wants to make money off an affiliate link.Later, I came across articles saying that Bitcoin had surpassed $100, then $700, but nothing really caught my interest. I didn’t feel motivated to try to understand what it was all about until 2017, when Bitcoin passed $2,000. I bought 1 Bitcoin like many others, thinking I would just trade and make a profit.

I tried trading and learning more about Bitcoin, but there wasn’t much reliable information. Most of what I found were narratives pushed by mainstream media how Bitcoin was for criminals, how blockchain was a great invention, and how it was all about trading and crypto hype. While trying to play the role of a trader, I lost a lot of money. The biggest drop I experienced was in September 2017, which I think was caused by FUD  triggered by China’s ban on Bitcoin. Bitcoin fell from around $9,000 to $3,500 but quickly recovered. I kept trying to trade but was mostly on the wrong side of the market.

Until some successful people recommended that I read the book The Bitcoin Standard. That’s when everything finally started to make sense, and I told myself, Oh my God, how could I have been so blind? How did I not see this earlier? And after that, I kept going deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole studying what money really is, the history of money, the evolution of money.

It took me a few years to truly understand what Bitcoin is.Unfortunately, Bitcoin is not easy to understand. Even today, many people still don’t grasp it and often lose their way trying to figure it out.

There are even Bitcoin Core developers who work on the software itself but don’t actually understand what Bitcoin is. If even they don’t grasp it fully, how can we expect regular people to understand it easily?

I believe that the vast majority here have also been through the same things  Cheesy
When I started in 2017, I bought around $20 to $40 worth of BTC, and that amount was significant to me at the time. Obviously, I was extremely concerned about the price, and any drop made me sad because I felt like I was losing my “wealth.”

However, after the 2018 crash, when I saw my crypto bag melt away by almost 90%, I changed a lot
At that moment, I realized that it wouldn't make sense for me to sell at such a loss, so I let it go and stopped looking at the prices
After that, I went through a few more bad situations, which ended up making me more mature, and today I have a much better relationship with crypto and its prices

Newbies in this volatile market have to be tested by the market and their psychological strength will make them surviving in a bear market or exiting it with loss. If they invested, used own money, don't trade, they will have more chance to hold their bitcoins and avoid psychological effects turn to action of market exit.

If they traded, or used leverages for trading positions, in a bear market with many corrections and crashes, their positions will be liquidated and after losing the majority of their initial fund, it's hard to stay calm and still have belief in Bitcoin and this market. It's painful lesson but it's not responsibility of the market that just does it work while in the same market, intelligent investors get profit while most of the others get loss.

If we we by to live avoid unnecessary headaches, fear and panic, then we have to learn to do away with frequent checks in our investment, once we have invested on the right coin and use the appropriate wallet, we can leave it to always remained as volatile as ever, during the fall and rise of the market, we are going to have the market resulted to pump at last if we can hold and wait for more longer time.

I know that feeling as I have been there too and over time you just get used to feeling that bitcoin will surge in price sooner or later.
So even if there's a minor fall in price, your belief in bitcoin will not let you stress over it.
To keep yourself updated, you can just look for the price may be once or twice in a week.
Other than that, there's no real need to keep monitoring the price every few hours.

This is always the case with a beginner, and the more you understand how bitcoin works, the more matured you remain in bitcoin investment.
Before now , many people were investing in bitcoin just to make profit and withdraw their money, but today people are not only looking at the profit alone , every one want to have bitcoin.
Today, bitcoin has become a save haven, both institutional investors and individuals want to have bitcoin in their portfolio and as far as bitcoin exist it will not be out of some people portfolio.

When I first discovered Bitcoin, every move in price felt like a life-changing event. A $500 drop made me panic, a $1,000 pump made me think I was set for life. Over time, though, the way I look at it has changed.
All newbies have to go through these "emotional swings". Smiley

These days, I see Bitcoin less as a quick way to make money and more as a long-term habit. I don’t check the charts constantly anymor, it just sits there like a piece of my financial routine, the same way people contribute to a pension or keep a savings account.
You have made a correct comparison with a pension fund or savings account. In principle, this is how it turns out that when investing in bitcoin, you should not chase immediate benefits, but consider it as "savings for your future". The only difference is that you yourself are the sole manager of this "pension fund \ savings account", which means you don't pay anyone for servicing your savings. Also, no one will fool you or deceive you with your savings, as can happen with a bank deposit, if you follow the basic rules for safe storage of bitcoin.

I will not even mention the pension fund, since this is a "classic pyramid": payments to subsequent "users" are paid at the expense of previous "depositors". Given the global trend towards a decrease in the birth rate, one day this pyramid will collapse - simple mathematics.

What’s interesting is how the excitement has shifted. For me, it’s no longer about chasing the next all-time high, but watching how Bitcoin slowly becomes part of everyday conversations, companies, and even policies. It feels less like an experiment now, and more like something permanent.
You have gone through the transformation from a "newbie" to a mature "investor".

I’m curious if others here have gone through the same cycle, from price obsession to simply viewing Bitcoin as part of the background of life.
If you think that your "living with bitcoin" is something unique, then you are very much mistaken. Smiley Almost everyone experiences exactly this (I assume).

You will have more need of checking prices regularly if you are trading rather than are investing. Investment is for long term and it means you no longer need to check price hourly, daily and in general too frequently like with trading. When you are trading, depends on your candle chart and time frame used when you open the position, you must close your position within very quickly or let it opens a longer time. It will decide how frequent you check the price chart in trading practice.

Checking chart too often does not increase your chance of succeed and get profit in trading, but can affect your emotion, then psychology and trading position too. Generally, it affects your trading results as well so even with trading, try to reduce your frequency of price checking.

Although you stopped checking the price, stopped checking your total invested amount and portfolio every time the bitcoin price goes up or down. But I bet you know very well how much capital you have used, how many bitcoins you own, when was your last purchase and what the cost and price. It could say that you have memorized all of those things to the point where you don't need to check them often.

I don't believe that someone who has invested most of his money in bitcoin, spends most of his time thinking about it, talking about it, is not obsessed with the price and volatility of bitcoin. Most of us are obsessed with bitcoin and we should admit it.

Bitcoin was always good for long term investment, it's up to us when we realise that key factor. Those who still think that Bitcoin is an easy way of becoming rich must got excited/panic by 500$ pump/dump. I have to admit that it took me some time before I realise that Bitcoin is good for long term and it's not worthy to sell it for few bucks profit. Once you realise that you are hodling Bitcoin for at least five years then daily price of Bitcoin doesn't matter to you.

In the beginning of Bitcoin I considered it as a policy product but time and changing mindset have increased my confidence in it. It would not be wrong to consider Bitcoin as a digital gold and store of value because over time it has shown that it is not just for investment but a valuable digital asset. Just a two years ago I was thinking of buying atlcoins but when I came in contact with a friend he advised me to accumulation and hold Bitcoin only. And through my own research I have been confident in Bitcoin only and accumulating regularly. Even with price fluctuations, I am not worried now because I know that a long term strategy can provide me with higher profits by continuing to accumulate while having a current source of income.

Most newbies without experience about how Bitcoin works that it is volatile will feel that panic when they begin to notice a drop in the value of their Bitcoin when they check their wallets. Although I got prior notice before my first Bitcoin that it can fluctuate so it wasn't much of a surprise when I saw it dip, yet it still made me uncomfortable anything I saw the price decrease. I always felt like a winner who has recovered his loses anything it pumps. With my experience now I just don't bother about what current price is so far I am holding for a long term and not planning to sell, I now see any dump in price as an opportunity to accumulate more. So far we believe that Bitcoin will always increase to ATH there is no reason to worry about dip

Well, I believe we all definitely at some point in our life have gone through this very same circle, or let me simply speak for myself alone..
I discovered bitcoin in late 2015 and got in fully in 2016, that was when I also discovered and signed up on this forum, back then in my early days in this industry, I hadn't understood bitcoin fully but I was always curious to see where the price was headed anytime there was any major moves whether it be down or up..

But I am glad today that I now understand bitcoin much better and like you said, its no longer about its price, but more of seeing it grow in mainstream adoption, as this is one major key that will guarantee consistent and sustainable price growth, that is, many of us now realize that the more people accept and make use of bitcoin in their day to day life, creating demand for it in various business and financial sectors, so will the price continue to grow, and this is the best of form of price growth as it's completely organic and not based on hype.

What some of us don't know is there is no reward that doesn't comes with a pain but they comes in different ways. If you must enjoy Bitcoin investment, you must be ready and prepared to deal with the psychological trauma of the market, you have to understand that you need to be strong mentally to handle everything of the market, you have to understand that the growth is zigzag and you have to get use to the price fluctuation.

Bitcoin price looks better now compare to before when Bitcoin price can dump $10k in a day but now, the market is strong that anytime the market dump, the institution but back those Bitcoin the next day again. We are not going to zero like people do FUD Bitcoin in the past.

If I was a kid and also have a big capital, then I would feel exactly like you because I remember my first salary when I was living with my parents and I didn't have to pay for a food or rent, that first month's salary meant a lot to me, being able to spend that much money in a month myself, I had all the fun that I wanted. Since I'm not a kid and money doesn't amaze me and I also don't have a huge capital to invest in Bitcoin, to the point when a few increment in price significantly affects my wealth, I no longer have those emotions but I would say that it's amazing when you feel like that in the beginning.

I’m curious if others here have gone through the same cycle, from price obsession to simply viewing Bitcoin as part of the background of life.
Almost all people who were in the early stages of adopting bitcoin (investing in bitcoin for the first time) must have felt the same way, where we were always fixated on temporary ups and downs that made us feel proud or even fearful.

But as time went by and we became more familiar with bitcoin or more aware of our purpose for being in bitcoin, this kind of thing became less and less of an issue.
I personally experienced the same thing a few years ago. When my portfolio declined due to a correction, I was always on the brink of panic. And when it rose by just a few percent, I would always say that I was successful in Bitcoin. But as time went on and I became more familiar with my long-term goals, I personally always felt comfortable, even during temporary corrections, because I realized that this situation was temporary and not my ultimate goal.

Panic is a natural reaction because we have emotions, but such situations shouldn’t be overly dramatized. After all, we are aware that the choice ultimately lies with each individual, and when we invest in Bitcoin, we understand that such risks are inevitable.
