Why is Bitcoin hard for people to understand?

I've noticed that very few people truly understand Bitcoin or see what I see in it. I've always wondered why it's so hard for people to grasp the essence of Bitcoin.
Yesterday, I came across a really good video that explains why it's so difficult for people to understand Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is revolutionary digital asset of the 21st and the old guys are tied to the old system, and don't want to explore the potential of Bitcoin. Paradigm shift can be difficult for people to wrap head around it and I guess that's why some people are still reluctant in learning about the new Bitcoin technology that changed how we think about money, which shows that money can be a store of value and as well as a currency.

When you have passion on something you will have time to study the thing and understand it's relevant, at this point I don't think that people do find it difficult to understand bitcoin, except that the person in question doesn't have bitcoin in mind, secondly, bitcoin is something I know very well that news across the world has made people who lack trust on it understand more better of bitcoin, it was the earlier time bitcoin were introduced is when people did not understand bitcoin but currently so many persons have passion on it and that's they understand bitcoin very fast now.

Bitcoin is hard for people to understand because they aren't really interested on it. If they were enthusiasts of privacy, decentralization and financial opportunities outside mainstream they would understand it, even if it took a long time to get it, through daily usage and adoption. In fact, many people who are already using Bitcoin don't understand it completely, but they are learning more and more each new day as they continue investing, holding and making their income through the digital currency.

Meanwhile, the rest of people are stucked on their daily jobs and routines based on centralized systems of power, which is sealed through weak and heavily inflationary fiat currencies.

Yeah. I still remember when I first discovered Bitcoin. I was intrigued but couldnt say that I understood it right away. Hashing, mining, blockchain - everything was just an overwhelming wall of new words and ideas to scale.  It felt like learning a whole new language.  While the excitement was certainly there, it took me time and effort to go from being "interested" to "understanding" what was actually going on under the hood.

So, while I agree that the mainstream news makes Bitcoin more widely known, do you really think thats enough for anyone to actually understands Bitcoin?  Is merely reporting on the current price of Bitcoin enough to interest someone in understanding the economic principles behind it or the security of a decentralized network?  No, I dont think so.  Some people might know the term "blockchain" but do they really understand why blockchain is revolutionary technology?  I think there is a big difference between one who is "aware" of Bitcoin and someone who actually wants to "understand" Bitcoin.

Can people who don’t understand the technical side really use Bitcoin safely?

They can, the terms and reminders are told in easier ways without having them to extract what the jargon words. But I think each person who's interested to hold bitcoin for long term has to understand the basics of it. Like what you've said, how to have bitcoin safely and hold it with their own wallets. So, understanding how to make wallets could be sort of technical stuff and how to keep the recovery phrases. However, everything can be learned if people will have to take time in learning and understanding the most basic ones like owning a wallet and keeping their seeds.

When a person wants to scare others away from bitcoin, they face them with the technical aspect of it first. But that is not just needed. A basic understanding of bitcoin (how to send and receive bitcoin, how to safely keep seed phrase, how to use exchanges), is okay for a start. And if started, forums like this will keep the person going and increasing their knowledge.

Yeah, those who like to stop others from investing into bitcoin. They'll thrown them with technical aspects about it and the words about it that a beginner will hardly understand. And that's why it's important to start with the most basic ones and if the beginner is also a good researcher, they'll end up in the forum or any others that have also the main topics discussing about importance of basic knowledge in crypto. There are people that don't others to move forward with the knowledge about crypto and that's why they're doing it like that.

The main reason some people do not understand bitcoin is because they do not care about it, they do not want to know about it. If they want to know about bitcoin, only simple information is what they need.

First is that bitcoin has just limited supply. That will later make it scarce, its price will increase more because of that. This information first can make them be eager to learn more about bitcoin.

People do not need the technical parts of bitcoin but just the investment part and also reading about bitcoin security and safety.

Yes, ignorance is the main reason. The same thing happened to me. I had heard the name "Bitcoin" around 2016, but at the time I didn't care and ignored it. But after Bitcoin started to gain more traction, I finally started learning about it a few years later. So, I agree with you. Beyond scarcity, I think the growing adoption can be a starting point for those who want to learn more about Bitcoin, or you could call it a "pavement," to pique their curiosity, and hopefully, it can be their first step towards getting involved in Bitcoin. However, I am sure everyone will be interested in learning about Bitcoin eventually, whether it is in the near future or when it is too late.

If you have a strong interest in a subject, then you will understand that subject very easily, and so will Bitcoin. I want to say that first of all, to understand Bitcoin, you have to be interested in knowing about it, but if a person analyzes Bitcoin or the Bitcoin market, then he will definitely know and understand at least a little about Bitcoin. But if a person is interested in Bitcoin, he will definitely invest in Bitcoin.

I don't think I'll find anyone within a kilometer or two of the area I live who knows anything about Bitcoin. The reason why so few people know about Bitcoin is because of a lack of technology and knowledge. I do keep saying that the bitcoin or the crypto is open for everyone or to all but again not suitable for most, there are some people right there would like to stick to the things what they have done since they start and what they are hustle and grinding most of their years, and seems these are the older generations which not into tech world just focus what they have, but most of the recent people adopt with the trending are related into tech and with the new generation that could see the potential of the crypto currency still I didnt neglect people into business because its a widely spread adoptation but not all the time bitcoin meant for their business styles.

It's harder to hodl properly.

The hardest thing is to avoid greed. Like suppose someone bought bitcoin at $10000 and now price is $20000 in one year. What investment option could offer 100% return in one year ? It is impossible for majority not to sell at this moment. This will think that I should book profits now. That is why it is not easy to hold bitcoin for long duration like 5-10 years.

This is true. I have the believe which states, whatever you think is worth your time and effort however complex will become easy over time and no matter how simple a concept or idea might look, once you do not show interest in it, it will eventually become difficult to you. Despite saying this, the concept of bitcoin and the technology itself is a complex one if you want to deeply dive in to the core aspect of bitcoin and blockchain nevertheless everything about bitcoin is becoming more easy to understand due to the level of adoption it has gotten over the years and the level of people who are working everyday to simplify it. The older people are naturally against or scared of it because they have already given it a meaning, associating it to the Gen Zs and being resistant to it. The younger onse also find learning difficult because of two reasons, one is due to their poor mindset of not investing time and efforts in learning it and because the poverty rate including the ignorancy rate as increased.

I've not watched the video you shared (I will of course do after posting this comment) but it's wrong to assume that very few people understand bitcoin, except if you mean in your locality alone, because if you are talking about the globe generally, I can tell you there are very many that understand bitcoin and it's purpose perfectly well.
And don't also expect us to see exactly what you are seeing, we are not living with the same eyes 😁, maybe you tell us what you are seeing and we tell you what we are individually seeing, this is the only way you and I can truly know if we are seeing the same thing.

Many of us understand bitcoin and it's purpose perfectly well, but when it comes to bringing that purpose to actualization, it's something that must be done collectively, money is not actually money until it becomes generally agreed, supported and accepted as one.

And what people have passion for is not suppose to be difficult for them, so once the interest is there then there won't be any form of struggle but if they don't have interest that's why you see the habit some people are portraying is just because others are doing it they don't really have there own personal interest and even when there is DCA that makes things easy but they are still not consistent.

And if you want to make money then you have to be consistent with buying adding to the already existing so this are ways that something can be established. And people have been able to buy the amount of bitcoin because of how consistent they are so for does that are think that Bitcoin is difficult I think is clear that they don't have interest. Because the basics of bitcoin is like one of the most easiest to do.  And when you want to invest you will be eager to know everything about bitcoin. Because aside the financial benefits the way bitcoins works is actually a thing of interest.

Because bitcoin in reality is very complex, most especially if you are not inclined to technology and innovations. And the fact that people are used to see a currency that can be physically touch and seen, but bitcoin is only seen online and therefore people can’t even hold or keep it physically inside their pocket just like fiat currency is.

For me there are few reasons why people find it difficult to understand Bitcoin and the reasons are

1. Misinformation: a lot of people are not told the real truth about Bitcoin they are miss informed about Bitcoin I have seen someone who sees bitcoin as a scam according to him they told him that Bitcoin is used for scam and so he believed that and I have also seen people that believe that bitcoin is a get rich quick scheme and that was when he entered Bitcoin he was not getting the quick money he needed and that was why he left so miss information is one big reason why people don't understand bitcoin very well if people are given the right information I believe they will understand bitcoin very well.

2. It’s a new concept: bitcoin is still 15 years old now is still a new concept and people are still finding it difficult to understand it however as Time goes on I believe a lot of people will get used to it and they will understand it very well and they will start investing in it, is very normal for people to find it difficult to adapt and understand new concepts.

If someone is not interested in Bitcoin, then Bitcoin will be very difficult for them and they will not want to understand or learn because they are not interested. Bitcoin is not very difficult, if there is interest, then a person can easily learn about Bitcoin and understand it. A person thinks that Bitcoin is a difficult subject and that a coin that costs $117,000 must be difficult and not worth investing in. To give someone an idea about Bitcoin, you have to explain the simple things first, then if they are a little interested, they will automatically be able to master the difficult things. But they must be interested in Bitcoin.

If we go back a little bit to the early years, when Bitcoin was not yet known and the price was still below $1,
Bitcoin was really underestimated and many said it was just a junk project that would not develop.

But Satoshi continued to develop Bitcoin and its success to this day because Bitcoin is decentralized and cannot be fully regulated by anyone. 
A new financial concept that is more transparent and cannot be completely manipulated by anyone.

Now that more people are starting to learn to understand Bitcoin and utilize Bitcoin to their advantage,
Building a new platform in crypto with Bitcoin and altcoins is also created due to Bitcoin.

In fact, the first question they ask those of us who already have some understanding of the world of cryptocurrencies is, "Hey, do you have a lot of BTC?" . I think, that's a bit difficult for us to explain, as those who aren't familiar with it often ask for proof and want to see the numbers, even if only briefly.

Whether we realize it or not, most of us are still accustomed to the old concept from childhood that everything must be backed by a bank, government, or official institution as a guarantor of value. Well, regarding the question above, it's quite interesting, and if I describe it from my personal perspective, it has its reasons and isn't a coincidence. People will understand and nod when they know, experience, and implement it. A small example is when someone wants to transfer funds abroad using Bitcoin, with faster results than using a bank, then they think, "Oh, this is really useful."

If this is starting to be realized, I think the old paradigm will gradually reverse direction from its initial traditional, defensive, and unwillingness to soften. It certainly requires a process because understanding the essence of BTC is not easy and fast, especially when they hear about slightly more technical things like hashing, mining, blockchain, and private keys.
