Hello. Today, I accidentally made a deposit of $300 in USDC cryptocurrency via the BEP20 network instead of ERC20.

This is obviously my mistake, but I was surprised that the website rejected my request to credit the funds.

A similar situation happened to me on this website before (identical networks) and I received the funds without any problems. This time, they decided that due to my mistake, the deposit would not be credited and that was it. I am extremely disappointed with their attitude, especially considering that the deposit address for USDC BEP20 is the same as for USDT BEP20, which they support, or USDC ERC20, which I should have credited, so they certainly have the capability to do so.

Is it normal for the site not to push to post a BEP20 deposit instead of ERC20 even though they support this network in another stable coin? I would understand if it were, for example, SOL on the BEP20 network, but in this case it is really strange.

Yes absolutely the fault of the sender, because is clearly stated in the casino terms and conditions that deposits via wrong coin network is a lost for the depositor, but in few cases we see that gambler's get lucky that the deposits with wrong network or coin as far as the coin and address is the casino valid payment details their treat is as mistakes and credits the gambler accounts with the right amount.
I quote the above case as a precidence to what really string up in my thoughts, and this question goes to those technically exposed gamblers, where do the coins actually goes to in reality?

The coin sent to the gambling site address on another network is not lost, the gambling site has the private key that can be used to access the coin.

ERC20 and BRC20 generated on the same wallet will have the same wallet addresses. So the coin is with the casino and they have access to it.

There could be two possibility.

A. The casino has full control over receiving wallets. In this case, they would most likely provide the same receiving address for all supported coins i.e. you get the same address for USDT BEP20 and USDC ERC20. So there is no chance of mistake and you would be credited any supported coins sent to it.

B. The casino uses a third party to convert crypto into USD or something similar and they don't process the payment. In this case, you are likely getting temporary deposit address or different address for different coins.

There sure could be other options in between but these two are most likely. Almost all of casino I use are type A so there's no chance of mistakenly sending of supported coin to another network.
I don't see why the casino or exchange would provide different address for supported chains if they have control over the wallet.

The coin sent to the gambling site address on another network is not lost, the gambling site has the private key that can be used to access the coin.

However, some casinos have their terms on this kind of transaction and their stand usually is that they won't give the time to return it to the user. Though they have the control, unfortunately, most sites won't entertain such request from the user who mistakenly made the transaction. So this is another free income for the casino. For players, make sure that before you hit the send button, double-check or triple-check the addresses and the network that you are sending it to. Because most transactions are irreversible. It would be like a doing a good act if the casino will return the coins to the user who made such mistake. Because not many will do such reversion of funds.

The casino should have access to the deposited coins. Even with different networks, the deposit address will remain the same. However, they may require certain considerations to continue assisting their customers in crediting the deposits made.

Since it is the same network, the money is in the custody of the casino. But the casino might claim that the wallet belongs to a third party, so they don't have access to it. But that's bullshit because they cant publish a wallet they don't have access to on their website. I think the casino should be lenient enough to credit the customer's account. However, the gambler should be blamed for this mistake because it is usually clearly written in most casinos terms of service.

This is a very good answer, tsaroz. The OP didn't ask whether you have the right to recover these coins, and this topic has nothing to do with the casinos' different terms and conditions, but with what technically happens to the funds.

Different networks may have different addresses, and in that case the coins would be lost. But in the case they share the same addresses, those who hold the keys hold the coins. Who holds it and if they're willing to send them back to him is a question that must be answered case by case.

As long as it's just the wrong chain the casino will have the private key to the other chain as well and they can access funds as they wish but I don't think user can claim a refund or something because as mentioned funds deposited on wrong chain should be considered as loss in their tos so that is what we should assume too even if there were exceptions and casino decided to credit the funds.

Funds are not lost, only the user will not be able to access it that is the answer to your question.

Of course, the casino has the coins with them in their system even if it's a third-party that is carrying the payment for them. It shows that the address which the coins was deposited to belongs to the casino and for that reason, their payment provider will definitely send the coins back to the casino account.

It's only if the casino wants to make the gambler leaen from his carelessness is when they can delay crediting his account immediately but later, so that the gambler will take that warning seriously. Exchanges also give the same warning if you want to deposit.

Well those money ain't lose , they just store in another wallet. Basically all the evm wallet store in same private key. They refuse to credit the balance cause they basically do these credit system automatically. I think they didn't integrate the other chain deposit system that's why. They needed to go through manually to look into your deposits which maybe lots of hassle to them. Cause they have lots of client to handle. If you're not agreeing with their term basically it's your fault to lose the fund.

I faced something similar to binance exchange, but the good news was  when they integrated the network after 2months they credited my fund which was excellent.

Like many others have said, the coins aren't lost. They are held by the casino since it's a centralized platform, they own access to the keys. Honestly from the quoted part of the op, it's obvious that the sender in this case was careless. You can't possibly make same mistake twice and brag about it. He's first mistake was taken slightly by the casino and they might have gone through some unusual processes just to refund his account. But he decided to repeat same mistakes again. At least he could have learnt from he's last and try to be careful when sending the next.
On the other hand, the casino should at least consider he's request if they want to keep there reputation of their services.

Only what I think is that the gambling sites can make the same network addresses for such coins instead, this is what exchanges do that make such mistake not to be common. Mistakenly used Ethereum network instead of using Binance network should not easily lead to loss of coin. I can not use such gambling site.

The coins belong to casino, that's for sure because the coins aren't tainted or have problem with regulation, so the casino can claim it.

I doubt that a cryptocurrency deposit sent to a gambling account on the wrong network is easy to be recovered because it is supposed to be assumed lost or inaccessible to the gambling site, making it very difficult, if not next to impossible.

Even after taking necessary actions to immediately contact the cryptocurrency gambling site's customer support and even provide them with the transaction hash ID, it might still be impossible to recover such funds. So it's best to triple check before making any such transactions into a gambling site wallet.

There is no way than to contact the casino customer care and be hoping to hear good news from them, but it might be a bad news. If they will not recover the coin for the person, they will not just do it. There is no way the person will be able to recover the coin. But another thing is that the person can post about it on social media where the casino is present and active, that the casino want to scam him and explain what happened. Maybe the person may have luck with it.

Yes true, they might want to take the money the gambler transact but if they really say or mean that they do not have access of the coin the person sent and claimed the wallet belongs to a third party, then why do they fund the gambler account when he made the mistake the first time? If the person try to email the casino they will want about this they might want to deny the fact that they have access to it, but as you say that's bullshit,and it's true. The rules was there when the gambler made same mistake the first time and they refunded, now same mistake and no refund which means they want to take the money.

Don't expect most crypto-casinos will allow the recovery request regardless of the amount.

I'm pretty sure 90% of crypto-gambling sites will refuse that request, especially if that was part of the site's terms and conditions.

Honestly I believe that the error is actually on the casino and in crypto. People think crypto will be mainstream 1 day and everyone will use it, but they have to fix flaws before it can happen.

When you send funds to the wrong chain it is NOT lost. It could be recovered and should be recovered, but the support team doesn't wanna mess with it and if they start then they might have to do it 1000 times a day for others who made the same mistake. Time consuming and frustrating so instead they make the blanket policy to cover all crypo sent to wrong chain. Basically saying its user error, do it right or lose it.

They are correct, it is user error at the time, but what if the system is wrong? If I walk into a gas station in the USA and try to pay for my gas with eoros or pesos or any other kind of currency other than the us dollar, the gas station isn't going to accept it. They accept usd or a credit/debit card or a check but barely anyone uses those anymore. Using that example, if sites recognized that a user wasn't using the correct currency they wouldn't allow the transaction and all is fixed. They will say that that is what happens, but it isn't. Yes some sites have a warning message, but they just shouldn't allow the deposit or wd unless it's a valid address or currency. Another option would be users load a debit/credit card with whatever currency and the balance be in usd and users deposit that way.

Simple fact is they could help users if they wanted to, but it's free money for them so why should they?
