They are gradually trying to shift the airdrop definition from what it used to be. The problem is that airdrop is botted as heck, Somnia testnet phase records tens of millions of unique address being botted by airdrop farmer using automated means and the same thing happened to other L1 as well which trying to do airdrop to their testnet users that doesn't even cost a penny and as of recent they try to filter it by requiring some kind of investment even if it's little so yeah we can actually call it an investment or some sort.

The devs argue that to receive or qualify an airdrop, the one who truly deserve it need to have some skin in the game which is fair so to speak but it does have risk to certain extent.
Apparently the testnet users aren't really cooking these days, all the allocation goes out to stakers and pre sale buyers. It's like speculation.

That's very much true that most of airdrops are just wastage of time and when they are launched they just give us disappointment. I have few people in my community who regularly participate in airdrops and according to them if you participate in 10 Airdrops then if you are very lucky then one of these airdrops will give you some profit, unlucky guys won't even find one airdrop profitable. That's why I refrain myself from participating in Airdrops rather I focus on Bitcoin and few top Alts listed on CMC.

I opened one of my favorite applications again and checked the Airdrops section. Sadly, I have not found anything appealing that would make me do the effort to help them advertise their project. None.
It's mostly memes, and the other projects are not promising enough to continue their projects. It's mostly about the money that investors will bring or the hype. I don't see any real product behind them or any known person who would back their claims.
It's just exhausting to check them all out, but I guess I am going to find the same thing with the others. It's truly difficult to find a gem these days.

They were never really things that got my interest because there is maybe like once a year, even fewer than that, great airdrops that pay a ton of money to people but that is it, nothing more. There are thousands of them every year, and only one that makes money, so those odds do not make me feel like they are worth it. If I know myself, I am not going to be one of the few lucky ones that makes the most money from that good one, and instead spend tens of hours on something that will not make any money at all.

I have seen how they do and most of the time it just makes the creators rich, nobody else so it is not really worth it. I think my time could be spent better just working on my job and making money there instead.

Asking about legitimate profitable airdrops will always popup because there is a lot of running airdrops. There always have been many airdrops and at sometime one of them booms. Usually already established projects based airdrops are the notable successful airdrops.
Everybody here remember the famous airdrop of UniSwap occured few years ago. That airdrop was a huge one since some of the eligible participants were able to get airdropped tokens worth about $7K. The airdrop was aimed to reward the platform users who were be early adopters who believed in its feasibility

Just like the tap to earn airdrop, in the beginning, there was a success. But after that, those airdrop turns nothing or worst, you have work you ass off to tap but then you are not even considered for that airdrop because of some technicalities.

But now it's different, to be qualified you need to do daily certain tasks and if you missed some days then you are back to zero again. I wonder if you have found such kind of projects in the airdrop section in the past. In my journey in bitcointalk forum, i have never came accross a successful based airdrop project except if i missed them.
I took the time to search about other projects in other online resources and ask about reliable projects in the past. I almost have found nothing but few to none projects who are already established in the market who rewarded their loyal users by airdrop new mint tokens. I remember follow airdrop for blockchain[.]com wallet users who used the swap function, but for all the rest of airdrops during years, i never expect that i will find nothing.

There are good altcoins in the market that can give an interest return when you hold but not for too long. Many of the new altcoins are not to be trusted because they could become rug pulled at anytime except the old ones that have been in the market for years. Airdrops do not pay again like the way people are making money from it in those days. The only airdrop that can give good returns are the web3 airdrops that could require you to stake and do lot of tasks.

Well I do think you are going to not be happy if you get some free tokens from a air drop. It is not like it it did used to be when there was not alot of airdrops.
Now there is so many pump and dump and 'rug pulls' giving out the free tokens. And alot of the free tokens we can not even sell on the exchanges.
