Some people I know have been saying the same regrets for years, yet they’re still active gamblers until now. It’s like the regret fades once the urge comes back.

Many times… I think that’s just normal for a human being - we regret, but because we love gambling, we never really leave it for good. I’ve made mistakes many times in the past and I’m still gambling now, but the difference is I used to be addicted. I was able to fight it and I’m happy that I’ve become a responsible gambler today.

Regret will always come at some point, especially if we’re constantly gambling. Even being rich doesn’t make us safe from it, unless we have infinite money-  which nobody has.

What matters is when we regret, we learn from our mistakes and not keep repeating them over and over again.

I was in that level when I've not learnt about responsible gambling, I will lose a reasonable amount and I'd tell myself that it's over with gambling. After a few weeks the frustration would die down and I would come back again. A win will boost my confidence then a big lose happens and it's back to saying that it's all over. Now I use very small amount for gambling and I don't bother about losing it, if I win I'm happy if I lose I move on without a problem. I have realized that gamblers that are always in that category of saying "never again" are the ones that uses significant amount to gamble.

It is usually very easy to claim that you're never going to gamble again, but it is a discipline to stick to it that many of these persons lack. Often times the pain of regrets is not as strong as the urge to gamble this is why people often forget their statement about them never gambling again and quickly rush back to gambling after a couple of weeks or even days.

Regrets from a loss can teach a lesson, a lesson like, you never using the same amount you lost to gamble again, or you even deciding not to gamble at a certain time or avoid certain games.

It is a different thing to say you will stop gambling and to say you will stop betting in a particular pattern or betting a particular team. I have seen gamblers who have vowed not to bet on a particular team because of their failing experience with the team. So I think a gambler who says he won't gamble again but goes back almost immediately to it is only being an irresponsible gambler but if you say it and after some months you try it out again, it is still fair than to jump on it just after few hours from the regret. However, the most that I have seen is gamblers not betting on some clubs because of their failure rate with the club, for example Manchester United

At some point we all experience being irresponsible with gambling, and maybe like what OP said, we swear we’ll never gamble again. But the truth is, that rarely happens. Out of 100 people who say that, maybe only 5 will actually quit for good. For most of us, gambling is already part of life. If we make mistakes, what we need to fix is the mistake itself so next time we play, we do it responsibly.

Sometimes people blame gambling for their mistakes, when in fact it’s their own irresponsible actions that caused it.

I have never placed such large bets that I would regret if they didn’t win. But I have often seen players who keep gambling despite their losses, even going into debt. What’s more, I even have a close relative like that. From my observations, what drives people in such moments is the desire to win back and recover what they have already lost, to prove to themselves and others that they were on the right track and that they are the smartest. Their pride simply doesn’t allow them to accept that a player can lose. But this kind of arrogance drags them deeper and deeper into a pit of financial problems.

Losses in gambling are just like injuries in real life, When injured, you detest the cause of the injury and as long as the injury remains with you, you'll avoid doing things that possibly led you to such, but as soon as you get healed, you would return to those things trying to apply more caution not to get hurt again, same with gambling, as long as the gamblers who lost significantly are pained for their loss, they say NEVER AGAIN but as soon as they are over that big loss, most of them return and continue gambling like nothing happened in the first place until yet another financial blow is dished to them and the cycle continues.

1) Too often, I don't even know how to answer it with numbers.

2) It didn't stop me from playing, but it did change the way I play. While I used to make aggressive bets, I no longer do so, realizing that small bets can also get big payouts. I also took that experience from my friend who often gets big payouts from small bets.

Once you loose, subconsciously, regret sets in at that moment. It doesn't take long before you start regretting. At that instance, there's an high probability that you will decide you're not gambling again or that you're never gambling with a certain amount again. That's just your adrenaline that's at work but after a while you find yourself gambling again and when you eventually get lucky to have won, immediately, you forget all your losses and face the game as though you've never lost at all.

Even though you come back to gamble after you've said you will never gamble again, I don't see that as addiction as long as you're still in control of your gambling and can still stay of it till you're ready to try it again. It becomes an addictive behaviour when you can't take your mind off it but will have to keep going into it over and over again.

Definitely there is regrets at every end we looses our bets but such acts can be categorized in two which are those whose lost outcomes are weighes them down and those whose looses does not have an atom of weight in them.

Those who are weighed down may suffer emotional trauma's and encounters disruptions to their finances if they are betting aside their affordability but those who can feel the regrets and do away with it within the immediate time would never have problem with their looses.

So If I must say on my own side, I will say I don't feel regrets on my looses because it is part of the game of which I am disciplined enough to bet with what I can only afford to loose. So.... worries.

1. Not often coz i gamble with what i can afford to lose. I'm not an impulsive gambler.
2. I'd rather juve move on and stop. Regretting something that already happened would never give back your money.

Exactly because no matter how huge amount a gambler might lose, just for that particular moment he would even go to the extent of vowing. But just withing a short period of time he would start gambling again, so is quite a normal thing that we all have experienced. However, just like as you mentioned that is the real truth about it because once they start experiencing winning they would still get carried away until they finally lost it all.

1) Very rare, I don’t actually remember when is the last time I lose big amount and regretted it since I always use normal amount bankroll after experiencing huge loss in the past.

In my case, only once (for now ).

I lost once 1 whole Bitcoin. It wasn't as expensive as today, of course, just 4 digits, in a all-in, double or nothing bet, you know. I remember saying: first and last time. Said and done. This has happened many times while gambling. Actually I don't use much money in gambling, but in the beginning I used a little bit more money in gambling a few times and I lost in gambling at that time and I was telling myself that I will never gamble again, even if I do gamble, I will not gamble with such a big amount of money. Maybe I had that regret for a day or two but later the situation got better and I gamble like before, although I gamble like before, now I gamble only for fun and I gamble with very small amount of money, but now even if I lose, I don't have much regret. I can gamble normally and always enjoy myself.
