[Fun] Which price estimate do you like on exchanges?

I am referring to the total amount of the coins that you have on the exchange in total which is displayed at the top left corner of the exchange home page on the exchange Android app.

There are some exchanges that display the total amount of the money you have on your exchange account in dollar, some displayed it in bitcoin which is the most common one. But some exchanges give the privilege for users to change it to anything they like. They let people to also be able to let it only be displayed in bitcoin.

I noticed exchange like Binance is no more displaying it on the home page in bitcoin anymore but now in dollar. I think they have seen that bitcoin have more power if it is displayed by default. Also some exchanges like Bybit did the same thing recently on the home page. Binance still give the privilege for people to change it but Bybit did not.

This is the reason I still like exchanges like Bitget and MEXC that did not change it as the default.

I like to display in fiat since all my balance on exchange are my disposable assets which means I need to know the fiat value to compute how much my buying power in fiat.

I have my hardware wallet for my investments that includes my Bitcoin holdings.

I’m not active on trading anymore so I’m just using exchange for a casual buy and sell then use P2P to convert on fiat that I will cash out to my bank account.

Nothing has changed in my account on the main page of the Binance exchange. The balance in Bitcoins is still indicated in large numbers, and the equivalent of this value in USDT is indicated below. As for me, it is more convenient for me when my balance is displayed in US dollars.

If exchanges are doing something like this, I do not know how they use to do it if they do not want old users to know until you will delete and reinstall the exchange app. You can delete the app and install it back and you will see what I am saying. You will only see it in United States dollar by default but you can change it back to what you see now manually.

My thoughts would be different from others since my trading strategy is my own strategy. I would like to display my balance in USD, to be honest. Because of my calculations of how much USDT I have deposited into the exchange. Then how many coins have I bought? So I can see the total value instantly of my holdings. Means I can calculate the profits and losses within seconds.

Except for my holdings, I deposit USDT into the exchange for trading. I always trade against USDT, so I could easily calculate the profits from the trading. Even though I am holding Bitcoin on the exchange, I also like to see the value in USD. Though I don't keep many funds in exchange and move them into a hardware wallet. But always my display currency is fiat in USD.

I forgot to mention that as it is in bitcoin, the exchange also allow you to see it in fiat like USD or your country's currency. If you install Binance now, you will see it in USD. But if you change it to bitcoin, you will see the USD underneath it. It is like this on Bitget by default, but if you change it to fiat, it will appear only in fiat. On MEXC, you will see it in bitcoin but if you go to asset, the USD or the fiat is under bitcoin.

For profit and loss calculation, you can go to spot or future account to see the daily profit and loss estimated in the fiat. Also you can check the profit or loss under asset and you can set it to 7 days, a month or you can set the period yourself up to a year or two on most exchanges.

What I saw was that bybit has actually changed and dropped the use of bitcoin because I could see anything to navigate to is only fiat currencies alone unlike other exchanges that this have both with bitcoin, like binance you can change to any of the top three cryptocurrencies aside usdt; which is btc, bnb eth and then there is the usd there, i prefer this because in any coin that it is in the usd value is still started there and BTC is my choice

It's possible that those exchange try to cater into the newcomers, they're not familiar with BTC so having value in USD seems less intimidating.

I also personally liked BTC. I've always a dream of accumulating bitcoin so it's better if I can see how much BTC i have accumulated and since CEX didn't really remove that but just give option to change, I changed and it's perfect again.

It is only visual display and it is only equivalent figure of your asset in either bitcoins or fiat currency. I don't use those exchanges but I believe that they are not too different than Binance which has options for users to choose the display in either bitcoin, fiat currency (many fiat currency choices) and stable coins.

If you love bitcoins, and want to trade for enriching your bitcoin amount, choose the option as bitcoin BTC.
If you only want to enrich your portfolio in fiat curency, choose fiat currency as it is more accurate than stable coins in reflecting your wealth in your national fiat currency than any stable coin.

I am very sure that it will not work, you will have to delete and reinstall the app. When I wanted to make this topic, I have the balance in bitcoin and dollar displayed underneath, I intentionally deleted the app to test that again and I saw the balance in only dollar again after I reinstalled the Binance app again on my device.

I don't know why it's not working from your end if you don't delete the app and reinstall it before you can get the latest version of Binance app. I don't delete mine, the moment there's a new version of Binance, if I click on my Binance app, I get the notification to upgrade to the latest version instantly on the app. If I click on Yes, it automatically download the latest version for me. My Binance account balance ia showing only in USD. I prefer it that way since I can change it back.

You did not understand me at all. I am not saying I do not update my Binance app. I update my app to the latest version but I posted that updating the app does not make it to be in dollar by default if you have the balance in bitcoin before, but if you delete and reinstall the app, it will be in dollar by default.

Seriously, I didn't notice that because my balance is already in dollar by default without me deleting it but it was after the update. When I read your post, I checked my three different Binance apps and since I have updated them, they are showing my balance only in USD. Unlike when you will see it in bitcoin and usd. It was when I checked my asset that I saw the amount in btc. We are on the same page but the deleting issue is what got me confused.

For laptop you are not required to do anything updating of app because you are not going to be using app on the system however it will be through internet you are using there features so actually when others who are using phones will be updating to get the latest features of the exchanges the person on the system will not be required to do so but however the app is mostly easier than using system but meanwhile you are right because there is no need having to delete an already installed app to reinstall it again and besides binance usually send notification to there users when they want them to update to the there latest version and the simple thing for them to update it is just to click it and it takes them were they can update to the current app.

Yes the UI is a bit different for IOS and Android but does not have much difference. App store will not always show the updates until and unless you keep your IOS version up to date. I've had these issues in the past where once I open the application it will prompt me to update but upon going to appstore it shows that I already am using the latest version.

I guess this is some kind of bug if the IOS version is not up to date. I don't know why but even the update size does not match the exact download size. Like for eg, binance's size is around 700mb but while updating it will hardly consume around 200mb.

I would personally like my balances to be displayed in fiat as I will regularly keep checking my balances to determine profit or loss. If displayed in bitcoins, I can see the exact figure but it's difficult to determine profit or loss as I will have to first check the updated price for bitcoins and make my own calculations. Displaying in fiat works fine for me as long as I know how much I am actually making by just holding a few coins.

I was not really aware bybit stopped displaying those figures. It really does not matter though. I would not change my exchange just for these differences as anyways it will be one and the same. Bitcoins does have more power but it's just a bit complicated to check prices and convert it to fiat every time to know our profits.

I don't keep much money in my exchange account, just the amount I want to convert to fiat or the amount I want to use for trading. The only time I will have some money in the exchange is when I get paid some of those airdrops that are paid directly to the exchanges, for this case, I like it displayed in the fiat equivalent to enable me have an easy overview of what I have in the exchange so I know if to convert to bitcoin and withdraw to my wallet.

Actually, my Cryptomus wallet lets me display my deposit in any kind of fiat, not just crypto. But the most important thing for me is that it doesn't display the balance during exchange trading.

Not many people pay attention to this, but those constantly fluctuating balance numbers can really put psychological pressure on a trader and make them mess up.

I will prefer mine to be displayed as BTC while the fiat is displayed under it in the currency that I set it.
