It is more safer to abstain from the use of such wallet, because they can attack using any means, what if some chips have been installed on the ledger wallet that you bought, the best is not to buy ledger and consider other most reliable hardware wallets like trezor and the likes, privacy is no longer confide in the use of ledger, we should if they don't ask for our private information and have done something bad or more worse that we don't know at the point of using the wallet.

I respect your opinion, all I can say is there are many gullible investors in crypto space, it is not all of them that want to learn or improve in any area, there are people who still find someone to help them open a brand new crypto wallet on their smartphone, it is happening you just don't know. The title of your topic is quite confusing. You need knowledge to know what to do and what not to do in the crypto space else you would end in tears. Your title should be something related to getting the right knowledge. Many newbies has lost a lot in the crypto space that made them give up, not because crypto was or is a scam, but because they lacked knowledge on many ways to safe guard their cryptocurrency.

You can't be that long in the crypto space 2-3 years and don't have any idea about the word not your keys not your coins. It makes no sense when someone messaged you with a request for your keys and you were so dump not to ignore the message. If he had the right knowledge I guess he would have known clearly that it was a scam.

I will not say it is a right. Let me use the correct word or phrase, it is your "duty" to secure or protect your seed phrase in all ramifications. And hardware wallets and non custodial wallets developers would ask you to send your seed phrase and if anyone does it is a clear indication that it is a scam. This should be a warning to everyone and secure their wallets. Don't click any suspicious link in your email or social media. Scammers can do everything to scam people and it is our sense of reasoning to quickly understand those Phishing link and delete them.

Just like others have pointed out, the title of the thread is a bit tough for the actual context itself, though I totally understand the message. Anyone that got to know about crypto in 2023, and decides to practice self custody while investing, ought to have known the importance of their seed phrase. Some of the good wallets that we have today, go as far notifying users on the importance of their seed phrase while creating them.

Scammers don't care about your right. They can perform any social engineering techniques just to get what they want. I don't know if we are supposed to see self custody as a right though, because it is something that is none negotiable, therefore, it is a must.

The investors who don't have solid knowledge about wallets and security mostly use CEX for this, they just buy from the exchange and leave it inside for the whole time. Anyone using CEX to buy and then move to a hardware wallet should have acquired quite the knowledge of maintaining proper security and privacy.

No doubt, most persons are going to learn from experience, if inquisitiveness can drive me to know and invest in Bitcoin and wouldn't drive me to learn how to secure my investment, then i should be able to bear the pain of losing my investment blindly.

Does the bank even ask you for your credit card pin code? Never, but still people are getting scammed. Usually we don't know our rights, what we should do and what we shouldn't do. Whether you have been using Ledger or Trezor, no officials will ask you for a recovery seed. They really don't need it for any reason. Most probably you may receive such spoof mails that ask for the recovery seed. It's your wallet credentials; if you hand over your home key to thieves, then they will steal everything. It isn't normal; handing over your seed to the scammer means your funds are gone.

However, it's not only right. It is your responsibility to secure your wallet seed. Whoever doesn't understand about seed phrases and noncustodial wallets shouldn't use them. Because even if they lost the seed funds, they will not be recoverable anymore. We must gain the proper knowledge of what we are playing.

One thing about all this crimes is that we sometime underestimate scams and thinks that there are some scams that are actually little but they usually get people, this attack is simply a social engineering attack and it has been getting to people just like how phishing attack is also getting even the skilled ones, most of the time after I blame the ignorance of victims I then blame this platforms or companies like ledger who actually fail to protect users details because usually this email address information are usually leaked out by the companies like ledger which is one of the reasons why this wallet is ill adviced in this forum.

This attack is another example of using self or non custodial wallet alien doesn’t mean that you’re the safety of your coins actually without securing the safety of your coins you’re actually going to lose them. Just like card pins in banks no company can actually ask for seed phrase but this is a thing know for knowledgeable people and that’s why the advice is to go and seek knowledge first because even a bitcoin basic understanding will help solve this problems

It is the right of every bitcoin holders to keep their seed phrase and their public keys to themselves. Anyone asking for them are scammers. People should know that (mostly the beginners). Only a scammer will call you or send you a mail and request for your seed phrase because without your seed phrase they can not have access to your crypto assets.
If I'm to be this person, immediately I received any call or main from anywhere requesting for my seed phrase that even when I will keep it more secretly because I already know that what I have is valuable and alot of people are dreaming to have it, mostly the scammers. And the funny thing is that they will just exchange the asset to fiat immediately they get have it and just lavish the money.

The problem start is when they didn't verify or check first those people asking those important details. Also they must know that no one should know their their recovery seed even the what so called representative of the company or even their close friends since there's really huge chance that they might get hack for those matters.

Lots of impersonator in this space try to attack those vulnerable individuals. That's why aside from learning on how to earn from crypto they should consider first what are those things to avoid so that they won't have this bad realization and regret for those mistakes or losses they have experiences. Well this is expensive lesson to learn and hope other people do more better job to secure their accounts.

These scammers portraying to be an employee of the wallet you purchase or own are going to try you. Mostly you are right but even if we are expert we can fall those tricks its not all about lack of knowledge we might have hurry and we act careless in the end we might lost everything. There is a saying in Turkiye, if you are protects your eyes carefully gets dirt in it ( I tried my best to translate ).
