How can art and culture be used for economic prosperity?

My country is well known for being talented. Me being an exception lol but there are a lot of talented singers especially from my country that have gone global. It made me wonder if performing art such as singing or dancing and even visual arts like paintings and etc can help the economy?

It might be a reach but don't you think that if talents from your country are well known the more foreigners would be enticed to visit your country? Let us take South Korea for example who has captured the hearts of the young generation by Kpop and now many people are visiting their country to attend concerts or buy albums or see their idols. Can other countries do this too?

Not all countries can appreciate creativity.

KPOP industry can get a lot fans because the fans live in a country where the beauty standard is having slanted eyes, clean facial, cute and has a white color skin (white in Asia). Those people are from third world countries in SEA.

Then we're talking about white people (EU/US) people who're popular in creativity, because their culture can appreciate other people skill including creativity. Not to mention the whole Asian thinks white people are always better than them, so they have a big market.

What about an ugly person living in SEA third world? the chance to success is very hard if you only rely on your talent except become a comedian.

Art and culture definitely can be turned into economic drivers, however, they can only grow to proportions when a country understands how to industrialize them without destroying the soul. The South Korea has constructed a complete system of infrastructure through state policy, corporate sponsorship, training systems, international distribution lines. K-pop appears spontaneous, yet it is as manufactured as semiconductors. Raw talent is everywhere and without institutions to give it a boost, it will remain hidden

Yes, foreigners come to idols, festivals, museums. However, the ecosystem surrounding it is much more profitable (e.g: streaming rights, merchandising, crossover fashion, cultural tourism, and the sale of identity per se). Will countries be able to commodify culture and at the same time make it GDP, without losing its authenticity? Since a product once art has turned into art people will eventually smell the formula and move on

It is not impossible for other countries. Whether cultures can be seen as an export industry by governments, business and communities or a hobby is the actual obstacle. This risk is to equate personal or individual glory with social well being. One international singer is not going to transform the economy. An ecosystem that creates and exports art continuously does

Arts and culture could be a source of income for a country. Nigerian movies and music are also gaining global recognition. The government could make money from taxes from movie and music sales. These industries could also be a source of employment since many people could get direct or indirect jobs.  Not many people have travelled to my country to attend a music concert or a movie show, but many local artists have filled big stadiums in many Western and Asian countries. Some countries also invest in several art projects and make good profit.

when i hear of Jamaica, the two things that comes to my mind is reggae and athlete. Reggae because they have sold themselves out as a nation that are extremely good in that niche and athlete because we can talk of bolt as one that has written his name in the sand of time as a global figure in world athletics. does that help the nation to generate revenue? absolutely yes, as a nation goes mainstream because of what they represent,  it attract investors in that field and that also helps the economy of that nation positively.

some African countries like Nigeria for instance are known for championing music globally, with that strength in that area, a lot of investors are dragged into that niche and that on it own helps the economy of that country. it is a social media era so there is no reason why one should talk about your nation not being appreciative of your art, there are a thousand and one ways one can push out his art to a larger audience far above the rich of his country.

Art & culture can boost economic prosperity by attracting tourism, creating jobs & supporting local businesses. Cultural events, festivals & museums bring visitors who spend money on food, travel & shopping. Artists & craftsmen can sell their work locally & globally, also cultural industries like music, film & design generate income & exports. Investing in art also makes cities more vibrant & appealing, encouraging innovation, community pride & long term growth.

When a country invests in promoting its creative industries, music, film, dance, fashion, gaming, and visual arts, it showcases talent in a way that strengthens national identity and attracts tourism, foreign investment, and trade opportunities.

South Korean government and private sector both invested heavily in creative infrastructure, studios, talent training, media promotion, and now it’s paying off globally.

Other countries can definitely do this too. It just requires recognizing creative talent as part of national development, not just entertainment. Supporting local artists, funding cultural festivals, building platforms for international exposure, and integrating arts into tourism strategies can all create jobs and stimulate industries around them.

In short, culture sells, and when it’s nurtured properly, it can become one of the strongest engines for economic prosperity.

It depends on how the government promote their culture. Since if the government pay attention on other things then expect that there's nothing will happen in the industry you have mentioned. Success of industry will depends on the support of people also by the government.

Several countries have realized how important the creative and arts industries are in boosting the economy. Performing and visual arts can be an attraction for tourists and thus increase a country's income. Great talents emerging from a country involved in the arts can also create jobs, especially for artists, and can help improve the economy in that country through festivals, exhibitions and other arts events.

Art and culture can only be favourable to just an aspect of the economy and I won't say it's the major part. For example my country also has talented singers and artists but this only draws the attention of people in western countries and personal incomes to the people that showcase their talents. The economy of the country is still the way it is, as a matter of fact it seems to be getting worse. Art and culture can't boost the prosperity of every country's economy

If these talented individuals continue to promote the country through their art and creativity, then of course it will be attractive to other persons to visit. This is not the job of the government alone, but rather the job of the people, and it is only possible if they possess a high level of patriotism for their country, most likely based on how the government is making an effort, and they are doing so as their own way of supporting the efforts made by the government. Creatives who are happy with their country will always include their country in whatever creative item they put out there as a way to sell the country, but if they are not happy with the country and unhappy with the actions of their government in not making an effort to better the country, they may not want to identify with the country at any opportunity they have.

Sure, I think it can be helpful in many ways. In my country we have a lot of artist that sing and dance, perform visual artists too and many others. they have many ways they help the economy. It creat aweraness all over the globe and attract foreign investors to come and invest in there business. Create room for tourist attractions like fella shrine in Lagos Nigeria. It creat international relationship. Money made from this artist abroad can be used to extablish profitable business and will lead to creating employment opportunity for those that are unemployed. There are many importance and usefulness which can not be overemphasize.

There are different entertaining cultures and artistic works in my country, just that there is no good organization that is put in charge to make this culture be openly recognized to attract tourists. By doing so, people coming to view would have to pay or even if they design an online platform for paid viewing. With the money that will be raised, it can contribute too to economic growth and create employment for the individuals that will be appointed to be in charge of the organization. Although, as someone already mentioned, the movie industry who also act some dramas pertaining our culture are still generating revenue and help in economic growth, including music too.

I doubt if it'd directly be influenced but for the fact that the entertainment industry is being regulated, it should in one way be resourceful such that it's taxable. When the artists holds concerts where fans have to buy the events tickets or publishing their albums, it can be taxable. Artists also with their ways of lavishing on luxuries and  expensive materials and tourisms can as well be a key point to how it can contribute to the economy.
And as the case maybe, prominent artists are good for promoting brands both home and abroad contents and that essence can create international relationships and calls for corporative alliances and could aad well encourage infrastructures to the local levels.

I think people travel more for what the country itself has to offer, nice places, good accommodation, great tourist spots, and so on. Now, attracting tourists just because there’s "one or two" famous people from there seems unlikely to me… unless we’re talking about legendary places, like where Elvis lived or where The Beatles recorded albums, that level of artist, if you know what I mean.

There are people who can afford such lifestyle so it is no surprise why some will go that extent just to follow their celebrity idols. I also know some of these individuals who will go to nearby countries to attend concerts of the popular singers. So it is indeed happening.

Interesting. I know about the music and yes I know about the athletic interest by the Jamaicans. But, the most interesting art of that culture is visual art. The paintings on the wall outside of the street of Jamaica is such a an amazing. Real arts are appreciated and if they take that serious, Jamaica might just be a place where tourist comes to see incredible paintings. This will help increase the economy of the country. A typical example are the South Africa and Dubai, they have different tourist center, and people pay to visit everyday.

Gone are those days people visit a place because of the beautiful works of art or a particular artist, Considering the economic situation now people travel because of what they stand to gain at last. But that does not give room to speak bad about art because art is the interpretation of once thought in drawing which is considered a beautifying tool.
Arts and culture stands as a primary sources of income to those that are blessed with the gift  and practice it in a unique way ends up benefiting from the works of art
