The Enforcement Directorate has filed a chargesheet against businessman Raj Kundra, accusing him of being a beneficial owner of 285 Bitcoins worth Rs 150.47 crore received from late crypto-scam mastermind Amit Bhardwaj.

The chargesheet, filed before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act court, states that Kundra concealed crucial evidence and failed to surrender the Bitcoins.The ED claims Kundra remains in possession and enjoyment of the proceeds of crime in the form of Bitcoins. The agency alleges he conducted a transaction with his actor wife Shilpa Shetty at below market rate to disguise funds obtained through criminal activities.

The money laundering case originates from FIRs filed by Maharashtra and Delhi police against Variable Tech Private Limited and several individuals including Amit Bhardwaj, Ajay Bhardwaj, Vivek Bhardwaj, Simpy Bhardwaj, and Mahender Bhardwaj.According to the ED, the promoters promised investors huge returns in crypto assets through Bitcoin mining but instead cheated them and concealed the ill-gotten Bitcoins in obscure online wallets.

this is a long news post but read it full as it is interesting and entertaining

although, i don't believe a word of it to be true 

if this guy had 286 bitcoin he wouldn't be making porn & his wife would not have to work in tv shows as judge (she's currently doing india's got talent)

when her hubby has got all the talents in the world 

btw, if he did had so many bitcoin then he would have probably fled india by now..

This couple official net worth is around 400-500 crore and considering his shady activities like betting in ipl( they had around 10-ish% stake in RR, which they lost after betting scandal) and diving into porn industry. I reckon unofficial net worth would be thousands of crores, which no one knows.

So i won't be surprised if all these allegations are true, after all his core competency is illegal work.

Exactly. Even I won't doubt him holding that many number of bitcoins.
I guess he is just using Shilpa Shetty as his cover so that he continue with his illicit activities.
He has been doing all of this for quite a while and so he must be having hundreds of crores of money.
I wonder why Shilpa Shetty is with this guy. She deserves so much better than him.

Even if he had 285 bitcoins, he would not just showcase it to the world right? They already are a high net worth couple and already have got plenty of assets and luxuries to maintain their position. These 285 bitcoins does make a huge difference in their net worth and maybe they were hiding all their black money in bitcoins just to save some taxes.

Also they were accused of IPL betting fraud so I'm sure a major chunk of these bitcoins will surely be from that IPL betting scandal. Anyways, I did read this news a couple of days back. There also are some politicians and HNI's involved so this will gain huge attention from ED and ITD.
