Depression? What the hell? Me? Depression? You can't be serious... Depression is for the "crazy". I am great!

Yeah! That's how it started.

I'm not a psychiatrist, I'm not a psychologist. Therefore, I won't talk about what depression is and what it isn't. I'll just share my own experiences.

I have everything, don't I? I got a family, a good job, some good friends. Why do I suffer? Why does this monster keep eating my soul?

Well, as I said, it's a situation that can't be explained easily, because sometimes it feels completely unreasonable. But it happens. Depression is not a binary (0/1) situation. It varies from person to person and it can get better or worse, if we act or if we stay idle, respectively.

During my life, I've been constantly struggling with random, strong thoughts that were showing me that my mind was "spinning" a lot more than it should. I was the over-thinking kind of person. These thoughts wouldn't let me sleep and wouldn't let me enjoy. I've never had suicidal thoughts, which is common with depression, but with me it wasn't like that.

Luckily, I decided to visit a psychiatrist for my situation. I couldn't live with myself. Literally!

There are 2 things that have helped me:
1. the people I love
2. the doctor

Although some people refer to medication as a taboo, I can guarantee that many people suffering from depression wouldn't have been with us now, if they hadn't got medical help.

If anything I've said rings you a bell, then, my only advice is that you should visit someone to help you. And, I want you to know that you're not alone!

I don't believe in psychiatry.  I think the way to beat depression is to eat mostly red meat, see morning sunshine and lift weighs.  I adopted this lifestyle and I haven't ever experienced depression in years.  If you can't afford to eat enough red meat, then you can't afford a psychologist.  Try eating both beef and pork at first.  Incorporate that and see how you feel.

Also, whenever I find myself in despair, I read the bible.  Reading the Logos of God feels like wearing an invisible armor.  You can believe or not believe, but I can promise that what it is written inside is very currently relevant with the demons we're dealing with in this clown world.

May God bless you.

I believe in science a lot! Psychiatrists are doctors who, most of the time, subscribe serotonin in order to control anxiety levels, which is the root cause of depression.

I eat red meat, I live in a very sunny country and I excercise.

However, it's not that simple. What I can clearly understand from your answer is that we should try ourselves before appointing a doctor. I'm ok with this, but the problem with depression is that it's literally impossible to let yourself act...

I can only say that psychiatry is largely a fiat pseudoscience.  I agree with Saifedean on this one: https://x.com/saifedean/status/1961735026694824366.

I'm not sure of the problem that you have.  You said you have no suicidal thoughts, but you have thoughts that don't let you sleep and enjoy life.  If you still feel depressed by adopting all those habits that I suggested, then it's likely something exceptional.

Anti-depressants cause sexual dysfunction and suicide. You are all a bunch of fucked up pieces of shit who eat garbage, don't exercise, have never been outside, and have absolutely no social skills whatsoever. BUT YOU THINK ANTIDEPRESSANTS WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS! NO! ANTI-DEPRESSANTS WILL JUST MAKE YOU EVEN MORE FUCKED UP!

Depression they say is the greatest enemy of man's emotional and physical balance as fear is to man when it comes to pushing for successful adventures that can transform ones life for good. One of the disadvantage of depression is its ability to neutralise once physical and emotional state of mind channelling it towards establishing thought of suicide or even taking one's life with dangerous drugs, so pushing to get it eliminated should be our greatest task that must be archived.

Because of the disadvantages of depression to man I think its important for it to be eliminated to avoid losing our loved one's and some useful ways of fighting it are changing once lifestyle, getting engaged in constant exercise and avoiding self isolation from people who can render quality assistance through advice.
