Altcoin miners, which coins are you mining right now? Or have you all turn off your GPU miners? I can see that most altcoins are not profitable to mine anymor, how are you guys coping? With 5x 5080 that I have running after discarding all my 3000 series GPUs I am still not making enough, just $3 per day mining Zano and AIPG.

My GPU miners are currently powered off. Regardless of the present, I still firmly believe there will be a market for GPU miners. Although GPUs aren't profitable right now, I'm holding onto them until some new concept altcoin emerges that will make them profitable. I also have 80 machines with EPYC 7742 CPUs that are still profitable.

I'm not expecting new GPU-based coins because ASIC manufacturers can now produce mining hardware for any coin very quickly.
ASICs are more profitable now. If you can't use an ASIC due to noise or high power consumption, then you have to mine with a GPU, and the payback period is 2-3 years.

I don't think so. Even if ASIC mining machines can imitate any algorithm, when a new concept coin emerges, it's impossible for ASICs to appear immediately. First, it will be mined based on CPUs, then GPUs, followed by FPGAs, and finally ASIC mining machines.

If you want to know if something is lucrative or not, you can judge by the demand and market price. How is the demand for GPU's right now vs. a few years back when mining using them was highly profitable?
How's the current market price

Even the activity in this board alone can tell you that most people have given up mining, or at least they don't expect so much from it in the short run.

If anyone has the money to buy the GPU, just buy the coin in the bear market, sit down and wait  or just do DCA Wink

Asic mining market ruined altcoin mining, they should have just stayed with Bitcoin, LTC and Dogecoin, it should have all ended there already, I think this must be one of the reasons Ethereum abandoned proof of work, it is no more fun to mine using GPU today, there are no more developers that want to build coins that are Asic resistance, it is such a shame.

GPUs were still so dominant, though, as most ASICs would become obsolete over a short period of time.

And by just looking at how crypto mining went from being so lucrative to even an average user to unprofitable and only good for the big corporations reminds you that this happens even in our daily lives. Look at Agriculture at a small scale and at a large scale when the big dogs have taken over it. The small guys are usually pushed out due to the unfriendly costs and losses.
