Common abbreviations in sports betting you’ll see everywhere

In my last topic I shared some basic sports betting terms, but this time I want to do something a little different.
While reading lines and discussions, you’ll notice a lot of short forms or abbreviations being used, and if you’re new, it can get confusing.

Here are some of the most common ones that pop up:

ML – Moneyline
ATS – Against the Spread
O/U – Over/Under (Totals)
PK – Pick’em
SU – Straight Up
PAR – Parlay
RL / PL – Run Line (baseball), Puck Line (hockey)
BTTS – Both Teams To Score (soccer)
HT/FT – Half Time / Full Time
F5 – First 5 Innings (baseball)
VIG / Juice – The bookmaker’s commission
ROI / EV – Return on Investment / Expected Value


These abbreviations are basically shortcuts, but they carry a lot of meaning.
Once you get used to them, you can read betting discussions or sportsbook lines much faster without confusion.

As an experienced bettor I have seen almost every abbreviation here but that ones that I am used to are just btts, ht/ft, o/u,ml. This doesn't mean that I don't know others but my interests are always around these options. I'm the type of bettor that likes to keep it simple. Learning these options and what they mean isn't difficult at all, as a beginner they were kinda strange at first but it didn't take long before I started getting a hang of it

Add xG in your list. You seem miss this but it's quite important to determine the value of team. Kinda weird you miss it caused by it's the most common thing used in identifying the how many goals potentially created by the team.

You can add NG to your list which means any team not to score, that's the opposite of BTTS or GG...There are lots of abbreviations In sports betting and in the beginning they can be complex to understand...when I started betting I didn't let all of that discourage me, I started experimenting with little amounts and over time I understood everything..Betting is wide and the options you come across is dependent on the bookmakers you are making use of.
