What If Satoshi appeared today, will it affect the price of BTC?

It is rumored that Satoshi's wallet hold over 1Million BTC, so just thinking about that and calculating how much that is in $$, I shouted out loud and then the question hit me; What if Satoshi appeared today, will it affect the price of btc.

We all know btc has always carried an aura of mystery, and at the heart of this mystery lies the greatest enigma of all, Satoshi Nakamoto, perhaps even the most wanted man on earth...lol

Satoshi was the one who mined the first btc block, he then disappeared, and never returned and in a way I think that was awesome because it afforded btc the freedom to grow without a leader/centralized figure. But I dont know if there are people like me who are thinking about this same question, what will Satoshi appearance do to btc market?

Imagine just waking up to the headline: ''Satoshi is back" on a global news outlet.

The market would explode in chaos. The thought of him (or her, or them, whichever one it is....lol) dumping even a fraction would send prices down badly. On the flip side, if Satoshi simply appeared to reassure us, saying, “I’m still here, but I won’t sell,” the faith and hype might rocket BTC to new highs.

Personally, I think the mystery is one of btc strongest narrative. The absence of Satoshi made it clear that btc belongs to no one, but it belongs to everyone. I think Satoshi return would be historic, but it could also shake the very foundation of our belief.

So here’s my lingering thought: would Satoshi’s presence be a blessing to us; the price of btc, or would it crash land the price?

Well, if that happens and he tells us he is not going to sell his holdings, then those words can influence people to invest more.

His presence has a big impact, but I don't think it would crash the price. We don't even know if he still has control of those first mine blocks or those wallets with huge amounts of BTC.

BTC nowadays is developed by individual people; anyone can contribute.
If Satoshi appeared, even with government planning to control him to manipulate the whole Bitcoin blockchain program, I don't think individual people and core developers will allow it. He is a creator but not a ruler.

His disappearance has made made a big contribution to completely make bitcoin decentralized.
So it's better to let him be gone forever in public because we don't know exactly what's going to happen if he appears.

Satoshi Nakamot in estimations have about 1.1 million bitcoins and he does not need to sell all of his bitcoins for money. As a Bitcoin founder, I believe that he does not need Bitcoin project is dead or Bitcoin price will crash so if he sells bitcoins, he will do it properly and carefully with time.

I believe that if there are any sales from Satoshi Nakamoto, he will choose a way that less affects the market sentiment and price.

Actually you are not the only one asking this same question, there has been lots of questions on this board about Satoshi's appearance and how it's going to affect the market. The answer is that it is not going to affect the market in anyway. Even if Satoshi nakamoto decided to sell all his Bitcoin today, It will only crash the market for sometime but believe me it will still rise again. If this happens, it will Also give rise to many buying the dip, or having the opportunity to buy more Bitcoin affordably. It will even make many people richer because when that happens everyone will like to be in hurry to buy at a cheap rate. Let's say if the current price was $118k and Satoshi decides to sell all his Bitcoin at once, that is like pulling out $100b liquidity from Bitcoin market cap of $2.2T. Of course it will not affect Bitcoin that much maybe from my calculations Bitcoin may only drop a little, let's say if current price is  $118k, it will drop to maybe $112 which will eventually create  panic and more will sell and it may still further drop to $100k or less but be rest assured that it will still bounce back. So nothing will happen if Satoshi deice to come out or even decide to sell all his Bitcoin.

It seems that this question gets asked every month on this forum.

If he re-appeared today and said he lost his coins in some hard drive crash then it wouldn't of had some bearish movements. But most likely people wouldnt believe him. If he didnt say anything about his bitcoin then people would be wary because "why appear after so long" and they would speculate that he might sell his bitcoins.

Either way. If you think about it, even if he sold, he would maybe sell a few million and sit on the rest. Donate it. Give it to his family. Etc. He has more money already than most generations can live off. But there is always the risk that he can get attacked by someone and have to send all his bitcoins to the kidnappers and they might sell it all.

No need to worry. Satoshi may not do that. He needs to prove that he is the real Satoshi. If he really sells his Bitcoin, let him do that and enjoy his profit from his creation. We can also follow him and sell Bitcoin and when the price is down or crashes, we can use the benefit to buy back. As long as Satoshi closest not sell his Bitcoin, everything will be okay. But the government will chase him no matter where he hides. So I don't think that he will appear in public but he may appear in the underground where only his closest people know.

If satoshis comes out now no one will believe him, why haven't the past fake satoshis shaken the market back then? Because they can't prove that they are the real satoshis. So if anyone comes out and claim to be real satoshis they need to really confuse us with legit proof that they are satoshi.

If the real satoshis prove himself to be who he is then I won't be happy myself, because he just go back on his words, it is part of his plan to disappeared for the sake of Bitcoin, it won't do any good for Bitcoin as a decentralised  project, if he is known then the decentralised is broken, because anyone that can lay their hands on satoshi can control everything. It's a rumour because it hasn't been proven but if you think it's doubtful to believe Satoshi Nakamoto as single handed person is unbelievable to own such amount of bitcoin, then you must be wrong because as speculated, Satohsi acquired his bitcoins by mining in the earlier days when bitcoin was $0 and minining was still very easy and profitable then. Moreover it wasn't only him that acquired such stashes of bitcoin but others who also mined in the same range of time.
I want to believe that your skepticism about his 1 million acquired bitcoin is considered based on the the value of bitcoin today that's over $100,000 which seems impossible for one person to acquire but I must stand to correct you that bitcoin is an asset that increases in values overtime.
There're also enthusiasts who bought their bitcoins very cheap in the early times and today's the value has increased over time. So don't have that mentality that it's impossible for someone to own such amount of bitcoin.
What you must consider is how and when it was acquired.

Bitcoin's market capitalization is $2.2 trillion but Bitcoin's liquidity is only around $30-50 billion/day. So if he wants to sell all his bitcoins at once on centralized exchanges without going through OTC. It will have a more serious impact than you think and panic is inevitable.

Remember the consequences of the German government or MT.Gox dumping a small amount of Bitcoin onto the market and the amount of panic it caused. Therefore, if Satoshi dumps 1 million BTC into the market, the consequences will be extremely serious if the market does not provide enough liquidity.

But you're right, these are all just short term effects. In the long run, there is nothing to worry about.

Are you thinking about his appearance in convincing people to buy Bitcoin?, if somebody does not buy Bitcoin after watching it till today they will not also going to buy if they see him. I asked this to myself awhile ago as well but I don't think Satoshi will do that, Bitcoin and Blockchain is already working and the community carried it out, that's more than enough for a legacy. Yeah, it's the very ethos of Bitcoin that there wouldn't be any single authority of it but I think even if he's been here and never sold a dime, he made a revolutionary invention that works and probably be the cornerstone for all of finance in the near future.

It may stir the price depending on what Satoshi does short term but I think we're fine in the long run. As I've said, it's already established, there are even players right now that are close to the level of Satoshi, yeah it may not have a single authority but Satoshi's Bitcoin is not the whole market anymore, we expanded.

And it’s good for him not to show off his shares now, as they are worth $133.9 billion USD, and they are growing based on his involvement in the early days of Bitcoin development. He prefers to have a quiet life away from the noise; it's very unusual for him to show up. We are referring to the actual Satoshi Nakamoto, not impostors who claim to be Nakamoto but lack concrete proof.

Even if he does come forward, we will never know the exact number of bitcoins he is holding as he will never let anyone know about it. Creator of bitcoins is one of the smartest minds ever and he will never do such a foolish thing to reveal himself just to gain some fame. Bitcoins are meant to be decentralized and were originally programmed in such a way.

If Satoshi had to reveal himself, it would have been way back in 2015 to 2017. Now bitcoins are worth more than $0.1M which in itself is a huge achievement. He will never reveal himself in this situation even if we 10x from now and reach $1M per bitcoin. He is always going to stay hidden no matter what happens.
