Manny Pacquiao just confirmed that he’s in the final stages of negotiations for a fight with Rolly Romero, the current WBA champion.
This comes after his comeback fight in July against Mario Barrios, which ended in a majority draw.

Romero himself said that fighting Pacquiao would be huge for his career, a chance to test himself against a legend.
For Pacquiao, who’s already 47 years old, it’s another shot at proving he can still compete with younger world champions.

What makes this interesting is the contrast: Pacquiao’s speed and experience vs. Romero’s youth and power.
If the fight pushes through, it could be scheduled in early 2026.

Good for him, but I'm not gonna lie, as much as I love Pacquiao, it seems like he gets a lot of privilege, which could be unfair to other boxers hoping to get a shot against the champion. I mean, he gets to fight a champion just fresh out of his retirement, and now he is about to fight another champion after having a draw in his first fight after his retirement. I guess his fame really gives him a lot of advantages to get big fights like this, since it most likely brings a lot of viewers and money, which is what promoters love.

Manny is way past his retirement, He should just focus on doing side quests in life rather getting back in the ring.
Sure, he loves boxing but he can still do what he loves and not risk his life for money (bet he's got tons of those already), fame? he's already cemented his name as the 8-division champion, so, I'm not sure why he still does this. Boredom?

This is true however many fans still wants to see him fight more for greatness due to the nostalgia which his fight given during his prime.

We just aim now for entertainment since MP has nothing to prove on his upcoming fights while we enjoy and proud if he manage to win.

He has nothing to lose and same with the fans that just having some fun watching our old favorite fighter still try his best against prime fighter. His recent fight sparks again the hype for Pacman.

At least Rolly isn’t that tall, he’s only 5’8 compared to Barrios who’s 5’10, so Manny won’t have the same problem with the jab that Barrios uses so effectively. here, I’m sure that won’t be an issue. it’s either Manny gets KO’d or he wins by KO, for sure this fight will be more exciting than Manny’s last one.

So yeah, I really like Manny’s chances here. he already proved himself against Barrios, and some even said that fight wasn’t really a draw, that Manny got robbed.
But this time, no more draws for sure. I’m betting on the underdog here, and that’s Manny.

Manny Pacquiao lost on his last attempt for Senatorial race in the Philippines which means he has a lot of free time for training considering that he does physical training regularly even before.

His wife has a hobby on collecting luxury items while he is making a lot of donations and charity works in PH. So I believe the main intention of his continuous fight is to get more money to fund all his family expenses.

I hope he will be safe on this fight.

Wow 29 years old versus 47 years old, I seriously want to see this fight, but the big question is, will we be treated to a close fight in the ring? After all, Rolly Romero is the WBA Welterweight champion and his knockout stats are very good, there is a chance this fight will be one-sided because Manny is just a legend, his skills will not be the same as before. Romero is the guy who beat Ryan Garcia, even though it was a boring fight. I believe he has proven himself by beating Ryan Garcia.  Romero has the power to KO an opponent, and now that he is at his prime, I think the situation is favorable to him.  I watched his fight against Garcia, although he doesn't have that much speed, but the power behind those punches may be devastating for Pacquiao.

I feel that this is a risky fight for Pacquiao. I have seen how powerful Romero is when he is in his prime fighting form; on the other hand, he already has weaknesses, and Tank Davis and Barroso have exposed them.
If I were will base it on their last fight, Pacquiao should be in a better deal, but we have to understand that at 47 years old, his power and how he absorbs punches are always questionable.

I think it's not important anymore for Pacquiao if he'll become a champion again. He's proven enough already for himself and that's why this is a bigger help to who he is challenging.

Like what Romero said, this is a step up for his career and this is most of the boxers dream, and that's to face the pound for pound king.

They are still at the negotiation table, but I'm sure this will materialize. Pacquiao's team wants excitement in his next fight, something that was lacking in his match against Barrios.

I've watched that fight (not full fight though), and I didn't thought that he will loss on that one, but I felt the complete opposite, and I thought that he won that fight, but it is what it is.

Anyway, every time Pacquiao has a fight, we will always have this stigma where we will always think "Can he defeat that fighter especially with his current age?" I'm also thinking the same as you as well that he's going to beat Hopkins' record for being the oldest boxing champion. I want to support Pacquiao, but this is the fighter that defeated Ryan Garcia in his last fight. I'm not saying that Pacquiao is weak, but this fighter is in his prime years. He's more agile, faster, and obviously more stamina than a 47-year old Pacquiao.

I very much wish this fight will be real! I am always very excited to watch Pacman. This is very much similar to witnessing the real Rocky Balboa hehehehe.

King Ry always wanted to fight Pacman, it was his dream, but Rolly ended up taking that chance. I don’t know what really happened to King Ry, but it seems like he was actually guilty of using enhancement drugs. he managed to beat Haney, but then he couldn’t beat Rolly, who on paper looked inferior to him before that fight, judging by the betting odds.
