Recently, I created an infographic thread about the development/evolution of gambling. Here, I wanted to focus on the development of Sports Betting and the obstacles it faced before it was acknowledged by the government.




Just like in phase 15, what do you think will be the next big thing in Sports betting? I read about robot sports in my previous thread. Probably, it would be the next big attraction in sports betting. Alas, it is still in the development phase. Do you think there is a more interesting development for sports betting than this robot fight?

You are correct, the information states that from 1991 to 1996 where the 1994 is the ground breaking move that change sports betting history:

Yes, it has something to do with religion, like in early Israel, picking lots when they are undecided of something important.

Thanks, I tried the clickable one in the previous infographic thread I created but it misaligns the image and looks less presentable. That is why I abandoned the idea.  On the other hand probably the better approach is to have a description below the infographic of each timeline with the link but this will make the thread looks too long and boring.

Upon closer examination, I believe the development we are witnessing is AI-driven gambling. In a way, making predictions or having an overall experience on the platform is better with AI.

Thank you for the correction, and yeah, AI has been the hot trend of the moment. With the integration of AI, sports betting experience will be greatly improved, especially on the data gathering parts where  bettors that has a good idea of how this works can have an advantage. 

With this, probably sports bet will be dominated by the use of AI applications to take advantage of its efficiency, support assistance, and fraud detection.  In addition, this article is really a good read on how AI can affect sports betting development.

Nowadays, there's a market for everything. People bet on politics, even on natural disasters and wars, animal fights, and races involving animals. Everything has become a betting market. So, robots will be the next victims. I have no doubt that in the future, there will be robot fights where people will bet on which robot will win.

That's why, in my opinion, I don't see anything else big for people to bet on in the future. Sports betting won't evolve much in the future in terms of betting options. But casino games could evolve a lot in the future. For example, in the future, people who go to a physical casino when playing a card game may find that the table itself will be a screen where the cards are virtual, and people can choose their cards with a simple touch. There's a lot of room for casino games to evolve.

A very good visual representation of how sportsbetting has been developed thru time. It is quite helpful to know such history in order to understand where gamblers are coming from. We can say, it has been with humanity ever since, though in a different mode or format. And look at what we have today, quite a revolutionary path owed to digitalization.

I would say, despite of such evolution, humanity adopted very well. And that suggests that we can't eradicate the world of gambling from humans. As we have seen, there were stages that the government tried to annihilate this activity, and yet, it survives. It was always in our blood to be gamblers. But of course, it is ourself who can really contain the extent of our involvement in gambling.

I was watching some esports match on YT when I realized, could esports betting compete against traditional sports betting in the future( in terms of total wagering amount)?  We all know kids today are so immersed with electronic/virtual gaming and this part of the industry is still in early development.

When I consider the progress of sportbetting and how it has had to evolve over the years, what I wonder is if over time, if the approved gambling age will be lowered to allow more younger people to be able to gamble?

You may think it currently impossible, but if you consider it, you will know that people in ancient times may likely have even considered the possibility of betting online in a casino not in your region as something that will never happen, but here we are.

Watching your infographic. It's easy to spot how betting upgraded from one form to another until it got to what we've now and would still transform to something different in few years time. Yeah betting grew from traditional styles to a digital replica and now with the introduction of AI, it can help give a better experience like automatic odds adjustment based on information coming from the match, even help users get better prediction based on the dynamics of a live game for live betting and other goodies more like moving away from the times we rack our brain to bet live to having AI give us good suggestions to make decisions from while live betting.

Considering the harm gambling gives to immature gamblers, I think the age minimum requirement would probably be increased.  Aside from that, the possibility of seminars and orientation before engaging in gambling for the first time might be required, it may be laughable to think, but hey, government officials are sometimes paranoid.   With that, I also cannot deny the possibility that the age restriction for gambling may be lowered or removed.

Even with the younger generation getting more interested, I think the older bettors still see sports betting as more reliable. In the end, it all comes down to which one is more popular, and we all know sports betting has a huge following, that’s what most bettors are into.

As far as I know, esports betting is under the umbrella of sports betting industry, but is distinct from the traditional sports betting because, as we know, sports betting point to physical sports like basketball, boxing, etc.. while esports betting focuses on video games and have a different platform.

From how I have also observed sport betting and gambling in generally, there could be more changes just as you have mentioned the robot sport but that doesn't meaning it would take over the space although there could be some people who may kicked against it due to their personal encounter or maybe when it's more favoring the bettor then casinos may kicked against it make it to work in their favors. Again, things happens and development are still taking places so I can't for sure be certain on which to take over the space in time to come.

I don't think there might be any thing else bigger than what sports and sportsbetting looks like right now. The believe that robots would emerge as the next development in sport could be possible but will not really give much hits as the normal sports which is loveable by too many people around the world.
