Fake “Peter Todd Bitcoin” project exploiting Bitcoin’s name.

What happened:: This project exploits Peter Todd's name, as Peter has not announced this project on his official accounts. It is also misuses the name of Bitcoin, claiming that the project is a rewrite of Bitcoin's history. The project is also asking investors for huge sums of Bitcoin in exchange unverifiable promises.. The domain is only 18 days old, and I believe that this is a clear scam, and the scammer used machine translation tools to spread their post across all local sections.

I have come across his post at least once and the username rings a bell. However, the moderators have done a very good job deleting most of his Announcements, except that Arabic board Announcement, can we have the Arabic board moderator do the same? 

I have supported the flag and also sent negative feedback.

I remember reporting some of his post/thread that violate forum rule, although it seems moderator also decided to remove his fake ANN thread as well. Anyway, flag supported since the profile remain active until today and the project provide fake/false PGP key.

Thank you for letting me know about this. I have already reported all of his posts on the forum, especially in the local sections, where he uses automated translation tools that violate the forum rules. I have also now reported his post to the Arabic section mod.

I hope that @OmegaStarScream will review the report as soon as possible and take action so that innocent members do not fall victim to this clear scam exploiting Todd's name.

I also wanted to inform you that I have just submitted a report to the domain registrar to have it completely taken down.

Thanks albon, does the real Peter Todd knows about this scam project that uses his name? I guess that there could be potential victim that are followers of his. This strategy of using known people's name to scam others is still ongoing and I don't think this strategy will ever end.

I believe the user has been nuked since all of the posts from this scammer have been deleted. However, I left negative feedback and support the flag as well. I would say this is the best find so far; definitely he is using Peter Todd's name on his scam project without acknowledging Peter Todd. That means he doesn't have good intentions about launching this project. He just wants to drain our pocket. While Bitcoin is doing great, scammers wake up. This type of project shouldn't be around the forum.

Thanks for finding this scam project; if someone intends to invest, they might look at this thread. Even on the Google search, this thread should be reflected. We need to be aware now; scammers start faking the projects to raise funds. There would be a lot of fake promises, and it's now quite easy to create fake team faces.

Thanks for sharing and highlight the issue. I noticed this "project" but was a clear fake and phishing proposal.
I was just waiting a full description of all evidences...

For sure many of users could easily understand this was completely fake but as you know many people have not all instruments to understand or make searches about what they find online.

Good job albon, there's no need for any follow up report since hostinger has already looked into the report. If this is how they respond with all of the reports, these scammers/cons are going to have a hard time in making a new one. More of these fake projects to get busted by you and the others.

Thank you. I have great confidence that any violations of the Terms of Service committed by any domain owner will be dealt with strictly by the registrar.. However, we need to have sufficient evidence in our reports for them to take them seriously. If the scammer returns with a different domain, I will update this topic again..

Also, verifying the authenticity of PGP signature takes only a few minutes. You can easily do it this using Kleopatra program. Just as they tried to impersonate Peter Todd,, there is no doubt they may impersonate other well-known figures. Research is essential in this filed to avoid falling victim to scams.
