Do you set a time limit when gambling, or just a money limit?

Sometimes we think gambling limits only apply to how much we can afford to lose..  like, “as long as I don’t lose more than X amount, I’m fine.” But we often forget about time.

When we get too caught up trying to win back losses or chase that one big win, we often lose track of time. Before we know it, several hours have already passed - just sitting there, eyes on the screen, forgetting to eat or rest. At that point, it’s no longer just about money anymore, it slowly starts taking a toll on our body and mental state.

So I’m curious... do you also set a time limit when you gamble, or do you just rely on your budget to control yourself?

And do you think time management is just as important as bankroll management?

Of course, both of them are very important for a gambler to enjoy his gambling activities and stay safe from addiction. Setting a gambling budget isn't enough because if you're on a winning streak, you might continue playing for long because you haven't exhausted your budget for that day which might have a negative effect on you. If you set a time limit, it enables you to be time cautious and stop the game at the right time irrespective of the outcome of your bet at that moment. I do both.

Before, my gambling limit was just based on the amount that I was gambling with there; I didn't pay attention to time, but recently, now that I'm falling in love with slot games, I now set a time limit that I have to spend since I can easily be rotating on a particular balance range that winsand loses. Let me take trading and gambling for this analysis of time limits application and how effective it is to our mental and financial state while engaging in this two activities.

Trading and gambling i categorize them in the same class since both have same results on me as an individual, i have lost alot to them bith and at the same time, i have gained alot between i have learned along the line and been able to build skills and knowledge around them.

Between i have set a time limits to both and even set day limits, i combined both gambling and trading activities to same day and allocated at least 3 hours to them each, i do the Monday, Wednesday and Friday-Saturdays, i usually skep one week iin between to regain before i continue in same cycle again.

Yeah, that’s what most of us feel, but it’s really important to learn how to value our time. when I was younger, I used to play card games with my friends and wouldn’t even notice the time - from night till morning I’d still be playing, and I wouldn’t feel sleepy at all if I was winning.

But since I was still young and immature back then, I didn’t see the risk it could have on my health. good thing it didn’t happen often, so I’m still healthy now, but I’ve definitely gone through that kind of experience.

yes of course because there could be times where you are particularly lucky and isn't losing any money but gaining so when would you know when to stop? eventually you will lose money but that could take hours which could harm your lifestyle especially if you have prior commitments or responsibilities you are not prioritizing

i make sure i only gamble when i am free usually in weekends so i know that i am not going to end up cramming a task or something i need to do because i forgot about the time gambling

There is a thing called gambling session and it's the duration of your gambling or the period of the day set aside for gambling. Mine is when I'm done with work for the day and  my session is limited to two hours maximum for a session or if my budget gets exhausted before the said 2 hours. This helps me avoid any or every possibilities of getting addicted. Gambling should have planning too because gambling for longer hours without checkmating it,  even though you're still acting within a budget may result in lower productivity in other important aspects of your existence.

Mine was video games especially, PS2. I will start playing from noon till evening without knowing that it's already dark. The funny thing is that, we do stake with a little amount of money. When we have lost all the money to someone in our midst, he will go out to get us snacks and ice-cream while we continue playing. I slept over one weekend just to keep on playing soccer on PS2.

Of course I do set limit while gambling because if you don't set a limit when gambling you may not know when you're crossing boundaries, but setting a limit would help you to know when you're crossing your boundaries. And I guess you know the disadvantage of going beyond your limit in gamble, although some people can also decide to rely on thier budget but I don't see this as the right approach because if you're going with this approach your bankroll won't last long because you can only stop when you have exhaust the money you have in your gambling budget.

The Both is considered very important in gamble, because without managing your time there's no way you can be able to manage your bankroll so the both of them works together.

Actually both, sometimes during the weekend I wasn't able to track time and spends more than 2 hours playing which usually a lot of time for me and after some time I tried to limit my time too, not only it makes me more stricter with my game time but it also helps me becoming a better gambler. As you know, if you've managed to be responsible in time management, you'll be able to be able to be responsible including with your bankroll.

It helps me in two ways, by limiting my game time reduces addiction and the temptation to chase losses, while setting a money limit protects my bankroll and savings. Also, If you only limit your time, you might still spend a lot within that period. But if you also limit your budget, you can set clear boundaries and stay in control.

I don’t really spend much time gambling since I mostly stick to sports betting. It usually takes me less than an hour.. just analyzing the game and placing my bets, so I’m not too worried about it. But if the time comes when I get into slots or casinos, then yeah, I’d definitely need to manage my time better.

I never set time limits, only money limits. I know I can't exceed this amount, and for me it's easy to stick to it. I don't see the point in setting any time limits because I can only make a few bets, and they don't take that much time, and then I can just monitor how my matches are going. Money limits are convenient because I know how much I can bet and don't worry about losing more than I intended. I think time limits are necessary for those who play slots, where the game can be engaging.

Most time I do mind and care about the amount I used in gambling because when you don't plan or allocate specific amount to gamble you could be losing much to gamble without taking proper records of how much you have lose.

Set some time limits? I guess not everyone have this action since what usually happen in reality is we exceed on supposed to be time limit when we are enjoying to much on what we are playing.

But what I usually do is to set some money limits since what I deposit most of the time is the amount I can afford to lose.

With this if everything got busted then that's it no thinking about having revenge bets since I understand that this is risky move and better to end up season we are not having a good day already for experience those losses.

Allowing ourselves to sit too long in front of a game screen can affect our psychology, ultimately reducing the quality of our decisions. Well, we know how each game is visually designed. If we don't maintain discipline, both of these limits are easy to break.

Lately, I don't even bother with the timer for gambling. It all happens naturally: I sit down and look at my current deposit. I set two goals: either win as much as I want, or don't lose half of it.
And I'll quit when one of these goals is achieved. But if I play for a long time and the money keeps coming and going, I'll eventually get tired of sitting there for so long and just leave the online casino. So far, I don't have any strict rules.

Every one is literarily saying the same thing and of course that's the obvious truth, both the time and money limits are very much important, for the timing it can even be so boring for me spending much time in gambling, naturally it makes sense when spicing activities with different things, it should be enjoyed while it lasted to avoid either spending money that was not budgeted for gambling or spending time that should have be used to do other important things. It will be problematic to only being money conscious without given respect to time as well.
