Electrum on Windows 10 — how to enable screenshots?

Hi everyone,
I’m using Electrum on Windows 10, and I need to take screenshots for documentation.
However, whenever I try to capture the screen, the Electrum window turns black.
Is there any setting or startup option that allows screenshots (disables the black-screen protection)?
Ideally, I’d like to enable it temporarily without reducing wallet security.

On the GUI, click on tools -> preferences -> Misc. Uncheck prevent screenshots.





As you can see, mine is checked (✔️), uncheck it and you will be able to take screenshot on Electrum.



Warning: do not take the screenshot of your seed phrase or private key.

Simply follow the instructions above but if you cannot see the GUI then a more length way will be to going to your configuration file which on windows is located at shown hidden files -> Go to -> \Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Electrum (or %APPDATA%\Electrum) and then this command below

You can keep the option checked by default and uncheck it when you need to take your screenshots. When you are done, go back into settings and put a check to prevent screenshots.
But even if you enable the option to take screenshots, your wallet security can only be impacted if you take screenshots of your seed or private keys. There is no reason to do that, of course. In all other cases it's your privacy that can be affected if malicious eyes find out how much bitcoin you have and in which addresses you keep them.

The developers added the by-default-enabled screenshot protection as a direct response to Windows Recall being introduced by Microsoft under which the OS itself every few seconds takes screenshots of the whole screen. That represents a direct realistic pathway to having a screenshot taken of your seed words without your knowledge.
