When there is no task to do there are no work left to be done, an employee that looks concentrated because he is gambling, making some mouse clicks, looks better than employee that similarly has nothing to do, but is sitting in his mobile and surfing social media, or simply walking in the office bothering other employees. I think smart employer wont punish employee for doing nothing if has no task to do. Gambling should never be given more importance than one's work. Since gambling is for entertainment, it should be played in off time. In that case, gambling should be played in free time and when there is no mental pressure. I would say that regardless what kind of entertainment, it is very important to keep it in its own place and time, If we can follow this basic thing of work first, everything else later many problems can be avoided in advance. Totally distracting not unless if you are doing it on your vacant time or lunch break then it wouldnt be compromising anything but if you are that playing on working hours then this is where things becomes distracting on which it could also compromise your work and would lead to suspension or laid off once you've been caught or you cant already do your work well just because you've been focusing on playing. There's time on everything and its best that you do know on what are your priorities. Nobody is really good at multi tasking, regardless of how many quips might be made about it. If you are currently engaged in work you should give it your full concentration, it's amazing how even the smallest things like having a conversation while typing can leave you writing something completely unrelated to what you're doing for work. I've experienced that multiple times and the more complicated the work, the more chance you have of messing it up by doing two things at once. Not only that, instead of doing great at two things independently, you end up doing mediocre (at best) on two things at the same time. It's bound to suck some of the joy out of betting as well, because you've merged it into your work time head space. Keep it all separate.

I usually try to avoid gambling during work because I have also had the experience of betting on a match of my favorite team and my attention on work has been reduced and I have been busy watching the scores and updates of that match most of the time. Wrong, unless disallowed by the company policy there is nothing about it being "improper". It is an entertainment activity, and you can't arbitrarily treat some as different from others. There is nothing different between playing something stupid like Candy Crush or playing a slot machine of some online casino if you are doing it for the sake of entertainment. A job is not at risk from gambling unless it is also at risk from any other entertainment activities for some reason.

Most work does not require any more than basic focus, so no that is also incorrect. Nothing in this thread indicates that a gambler can not wait until then. The question was about the possibility of multitasking gambling with work, and the only correct answers were those that conditioned that it depends a lot on the job in question. I think gambling during essential work is absolutely not right, as it can greatly increase the chances of making various mistakes at work. Gambling properly requires a cool head and it is very important to be focused. When we keep doing other things while gambling, it will not be possible to complete gambling or other work's properly. It is very important to setting the right time and money to manage gambling in an orderly manner. I never get involved in other work while gambling, so that I can keep a cool head and enjoy every moment of gambling.

Imo it's not possible to gamble while working or it's not possible in any way when you're gambling if you do any kind of chores you may miss the chance of hitting a jackpot. It's happened with me. While I was gambling , I was mainly playing aviator tried 90+ bets target was to achive a perfect 100x , you can't believe I just go to my door , cause there was someone  ringing the bell in these shor 60 sec the rocket hitted the 100x .

So I missed my chances after 90 bets to score a perfect 100x rocket crash. So idk if anyone is compiling both simulationusly but it's not even possible to do for me.

Well I have another point of view here which is as long as we commit to all our duties and we excel at it I don't really care about the trust of the company as the trust is to fulfill duties which I have already done so this does not concern me while gambling at work. What concerns me though is the fuss that happens usually in the office and when you gamble in a not quiet place like usually the office is, you start losing concentration, you don't think cold headed and you risk to lose a lot. I have lost like a 2000 dollars in a single session playing with 100 dollars buy bonuses in a very fast way that I got so mad that I never play again at work. While it may be not pleasant if people notice you and this was my primary concern when playing I think as long as I excel, I do my duties better than anyone else then there is no need to explain anything to anyone.

We can't somehow trust people enough this day's as company, alot of the guidelines are made for this sake, most employees have this bad habits of neglecting their primary purpose and duty when they are given some level of freedom at their work place this makes them to over do things like gambling while they are at work, so we can't totally control humans unless we place strict laws on them and enforce compliance.

Gambling despite not being a game of knowledge and experience, you don’t dare to play it without being focused on the game you’re betting on, by doing so, you’re just putting yourself at more risk of even losing more games, eventually losing more money. Betting needs a lot of concentration in order to stand a very good chance in the long run, so working while gambling will only make you be at disadvantage of losing more. The type of concentration needed in order to get a job welldone effectively is same you need to into the game you’re betting on in order to have a probable good result in the long run.
