We can't somehow trust people enough this day's as company, alot of the guidelines are made for this sake, most employees have this bad habits of neglecting their primary purpose and duty when they are given some level of freedom at their work place this makes them to over do things like gambling while they are at work, so we can't totally control humans unless we place strict laws on them and enforce compliance.

Humans have been given that liberty to make choices and decisions but because of so many factors that may make us to choose the answer to what we need at a particular time, it will not make sense at all for gamblers to be gambling in a work setting because that altitude has it own consequences for gamblers if they want to stay consistent.

That is a wrong idea and move to be gambling while working, I don't gambling at my work , I create different time to gamble so that I will be focus and finish my tax at the right time .

Gambling needs full concentration so that you don't make mistake and place the right game on the wrong side.

Imo it's not possible to gamble while working or it's not possible in any way when you're gambling if you do any kind of chores you may miss the chance of hitting a jackpot. It's happened with me. My response is the same, just slightly different. You are making assumptions about work places, work cultures and behavior of workers that does not apply everywhere. There are jobs where you can go and play video games for any number of hours almost each day if you feel like it. What fucking respect? They give you the freedom to whatever you want as long as you get the job done. This is obviously not possible in some jobs, say a surgeon who can't pause the fucking surgery to go play video games. It is possible in many jobs, and whether you are playing candy crush with fake in game money or you are playing slots on your phone with real money is not much different from this perspective.

It does not even have to be a development or IT job, I have seen plenty of night shift guards do nothing really than watch TV or play games. They may or may not have some scheduled patrols over the night depending on where they work, but most of the time is basically free. They just need to stay near the monitor with the camera and respond if any alarm triggers. But in reality, nothing will happen during their jobs 99% of the days that they work.

They hire and keep employed the oldest and the most stupidest people based on loyalty, nepotism and other shit. The idea of working for a long hours a day for a bigger pay is not really good enough when the government is always ready to deduct your tax and leave the remaining balance for you. At least when working, workers need adequate time to relax after work and think of other things to do that can bring extra income. I don't see a genuine reason why I have to work for a long hours everyday and this alone can affects my mental health and make everything uneasy for my well being.

Except if the nature of your work doesn't give you some time out if not gambling during working hours may not really be that bad. If you can just place some bets quickly and quit the gambling app or site without spending a lot of time, it won't affect your concentration on your job. I can't count how many times that i actually placed bets on some sporting events that was about to kick-off while i was still in the office. It's only gambling addicts that will lose concentration at work just because they want to gamble.

I think the boss should worry about job being done properly, but should not get involved deeply what employee is doing when they have spare time at work. Otherwise it will turn job into prison if boss would allow only to work and punish every time employee is doing something besides working. Boss should worry about final goal, do strategic thinking, than monitoring what employees are doing.

I have written this post while being at work. Done something similar to gambling - I was not working and not focusing on work. Do you think if I read forum, make posts, read news, make coffee, that is something bad and unethical that I am doing during working hours?

The taxation of income has literally nothing to do with the idea of working longer hours, and it does not contradict it at all. People who are working longer hours are actually earning more, just because you are a lazy bum who needs "adequate time to relax" that does not mean that the idea does not work. Some of the best workers in the world are practically working machines, they earn a ton of money and they are living a life that is much better than yours. No amount of justification for your laziness in your free time, and other delusions will change anything about that. Both of you are wrong and with these posts you have proven again that you have not read a single thing in this thread. The correct answer to this thread was always a depends. It depends on the type of job, on the person and the allowed conditions on the job. Just because you are not capable of doing multiple things at the same time in a high quality, that does not mean that others "lack full concentration" or even need "full concentration" to do work. Most of the jobs in the world are extremely easy jobs that require minimum cognition, even if they are tiring for most people because they are cognitively impaired. Do not apply your own limitations to the whole world, such generalizations are always mistaken. It is absolutely possible to gamble, work and do many other things at the same time.

My environment is a lot of krang who love to gamble and yes most of them do it at night where they have completed all their activities. Depending on the individuals work schedules, gambling is something that everyone knows the good and the bad impacts of it to some extent, we are individually differences with different mindset and thoughts towards financial situation and conditions at times.
