What is the skill every newbie should learn before buying their first bitcoin?

Hi guys so i’ve been reading alot of post in the forum lately and honestly i feel like most of us espectially us newbies are neglecting it

Most of us are only focused on things like how we are earn from the bitcoin, how we can store our bitcoin assets, what wallet to use and how we can prevent people from scamming us all nice
but how many of us get to think or are talking about how to think like a bitcoiner?

But let us all think of this for real bitcoin is beyond what many of us used to think of it from outside, we are suppose to see bitcoin not just as money, but as a financial mindset

The reason why i called it a mindset is because you can have your wallet your private keys and everything set up but at same time you can lose them all within a blink of eye not because of hackers hacked them
but because you never really took the time to understand what bitcoin stands for

Some people still put all their trusts on exchanges some panic sell when price of their assets drops and some even buy shitcoin thinking they have they discovered the next bitcoin lols but again this makes me feel like what we need to do is to first learn the philosophy of bitcoin and not just the profits

This makes me want to always ask espectially the old members of this forum what does it actually mean to think like a bitcoiner?

Is it just about having complete control and autonomy over our own financial life and holding your own keys
or it is more about being patient and not chasing hypes
or is it about us unlearning everything we have been thought about money, trust and government?

personally i feel if more newbies understood that mindset early alot of us will not fall for scams or panic during every market dip so yeah as a new guy trying to learn bitcoin the right way

if you u had the chance to teach a completely newbie one bitcoin mindset before they buy their first bitcoin what will the advise be?

I am really looking forward to learn from everyone take on this matter

Beginners do not need any deep skills before buying Bitcoin, but you need to have basic knowledge or basic purchasing skills.
Basic knowledge includes, what is Bitcoin? How does it work? What kind of mindset do you need to have for investing? And with what money do you need to invest in it? The answers to these questions are basically basic knowledge.

The basic skills that are needed are the skills of how to buy Bitcoin, the skills of choosing a good decentralized wallet, the skills of storing it in the wallet, and the skills of storing the necessary keys safely.

A beginner does not need to acquire much more skills before buying Bitcoin if you are already ready to invest with prudent money. If you wait to acquire all kinds of skills at the beginning, you will miss many opportunities to buy and regret it later. So start investing with basic knowledge and skills, and later acquire all the necessary knowledge and skills in depth along with investing.

It's not that deep or complicated, the reason why newbies find Bitcoin difficult is they try to complicate the whole things.
For me just think critically and smart, always make security a priority, employ security measures that will keep you and your coin safe. don't be greedy, accumulate Bitcoin according to what you can afford, hold for long term. There is no need expecting a fancy language or word, just be smart.

You don't need any skills to be able to buy Bitcoin for the first time, what you need is knowledge about Bitcoin, that's what you need to deepen because without sufficient knowledge, you might make mistakes in managing or storing it, and therefore you need good knowledge about Bitcoin before you first buy it.

there's no need to think like an expert when you buy, just try to understand the basics first and try to read and discuss more about the topic of Bitcoin, and over time your knowledge will increase and your views on Bitcoin may be better than before you delved into it.

I’ve always been a learn by doing kind of guy. One day I hope to be smart enough to learn from the mistakes of others. When it came to Bitcoin, I mined some so that I could start playing with it and that’s how I learned about it. In complete control of our money is the concept but I don't expect every newbie to start with such mindset when they are buying their first bitcoin because it is simply not possible and it may take years of expereince and knowledge about the mechanism of banks, economics, politics, privacy and many more things to start thinking like that and it may never happen at all to many because they never saw bitcoin in that way but only as an asset.

Actually there's no particular skill you are required to learn for you to be able to call yourself a bitcoin hodler. As long as you full possession over some coins you are already a holder. However personally as a bitcoiner you have to understand some major concepts and information that will guide your Hodling of those coins.
Bitcoin is basically built around the centralization and privacy which sibling is as a bitcoin now you have to make sure you are maximizing the both of them while also ensuring you understand the security of your coins to a very fine level.

My advice to a new buyer would be to do research before you buy anything. Read about all the pros and cons of owning bitcoin, be prepared for price fluctuations, know how to secure your coins.
Also, set your goals. Usually newbies either come thinking they will be master traders, or they think they'll play the system and go all in with leverage. 6 months later they end up down 50% or more on their investment and complain about manipulation.

Bitcoin doesn't have any officially designed rules for it, the desire to becoming a true successful Bitcoiner or Bitcoinist is by having the right knowledge of Bitcoin, you need the knowledge that Bitcoin is a volatile asset, Bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme, your bitcoin is meant to be kept by you in a self custody open source wallet and not on a centralized exchanges. You should learn that your private keys are very important and are meant to be backed up offline, not online. You also need to understand the benefits of being patient as an investor that wants to make profits. Learn the benefits of privacy and security of your Bitcoin, and then understand the best way you can invest without feeling pressured to sell when price is going down.  

All the things mentioned above are what I learned about having successful investment in Bitcoin and living to enjoy your profit at the end of the day and I know all of it makes a great Bitcoiner, because you will have to learn from the basic knowledge to the top, so I will teach a newbie about all that too of my lecture for them is required.

A newbie that wants to learn of what bitcoin is will be ready and able to learn on what is required for a start, it may comes demanding to an extent but it is worth it, because most experts in Bitcoin today already learnt how to use Bitcoin in achieving their purpose which is part of their dream today.

Pay attention to this few advise.

1. Learn from this forum, because it was created for Bitcoin if you're a newbie and you're reading this, then count yourself a lucky person, once you're ready to learn, you will definitely improve over time.

2. Understand what trading is from investment and try to know which best applies to you and how you could leverage on many aspects by knowing what they are and how you could build up yourself in each.

I don't see anything wrong with learning about the basic knowledge of Bitcoin, the best wallet to use, how to secure my wallet, and how to buy and hold patiently until your next cash-out time. Everyone knows what they want and will treat Bitcoin that way.

And anyone who loses their Bitcoin loses it due to their carelessness and not because they don't know what Bitcoin stands for. If you don't keep your key very well, another person will help you steal your coin and take good care of it for you since you don't know the use for it.

And I still consider basic knowledge as the best and first thing for anyone to know about Bitcoin before starting, and that basic knowledge includes the things that you have mentioned in the OP above.

Believe and practice and be good at it over time. It's no good to learn about theory and not doing anything practical about Bitcoin, learning about wallet while no deposits had ever been done, learning about spot trading and no trades had been executed, learning about staking and nothing had been done.

Before I started acquiring bitcoins, my boyfriend who introduced me to Bitcoin and this forum will always tell me "never you invest in anything you know nothing about". About Bitcoin, he would say "if you don't understand Bitcoin, you can lose your bitcoins at anytime".

He didn't lie about this. Many have lost huge amounts of bitcoins from trusting third parties with their private keys. Some have trusted strangers, some mistakenly sent bitcoins to the wrong wallet address, some are not conversant with the Bitcoin technology, while  some too are just clueless but looking for where to invest their money.

No matter the category they fall into, they should ensure that they learn about bitcoin, at least the basics and security tips. This knowledge will help them scale through with their investment.

Thinking like a bitcoiner is more about you being your own bank. Have complete control over your bitcoins. No third party interference. Proper knowledge will help you achieve this.

Bitcoineers are specific enthusiasts that owns and uses bitcoin regardless of it monetary utility values and technological developments. Being a bitcoineer does not compulsorily demand being technically knowledgeable with the networks and technologies. You just have to adopt a roles to play that maybe deep involved in the bitcoin ecosystem.

It's part of being a newbie. We can only remind and tip them but it's still all going to lie into their hands and decisions.
If they fall for scams and the market dips, that's because they didn't experienced it yet or if they have read someone's advise, they didn't take heed.

There is not a lot of advise that I'd tell a newbie before buying. The simplest is about affording to lose any money that they invest on it.
They'll have to accept that fact because it's volatile and no one holds the future and so, it's all about belief and the trust they have for bitcoin.
And, they'll start trusting it once they have understood the basic things about it.

Usually what came up on the minds of newbie is they can easily get profit by trading their Bitcoin without thinking about how technical those things they are trying to do. That's why lots of them lose and get a hard time to recover.

It may take years to learn all of those things and they might disappointed on result they see especially if they are unto trading. So best take consideration to learn lot of things and try to research those technical matters about trading and what strategies they can use so that they have good chance to earn on every trades they made.

But if they are unto Bitcoin HODL I think they don't need much skills to learn this since buying Bitcoin then hide it on their trusted or safe wallet is enough action to make this kind of investment to happened. Maybe they need to read up some information to increase their knowledge about Bitcoin, but it didn't require much lots of efforts and time since we can control everything if we choose to do this things.
