Some of our users has posted a lot of privacy and security related post . Especially the ones related to technical security and stuff .

But I create this post for something simple , most of us here in this space we always do different transactions every day (cryptocurrency transactions), and our email always send us authentication code during and others securely messages .

I have  noticed that most folk don’t delete these messages afterwards, which isn’t safe to me , someone can easily come across in your device and it may endup endangering your live.  If someone gains access to your device and sees those messages, it could put your security and even your life  at risk. So better to play it safe by deleting those emails, whenever you are done with the code , sometime something this simple can save lives .

Generally, it is important for someone to be security conscious, especially, anyone using social media. Privacy is a core discipline as it tend to projects some levels of reservations in official website operation. It important for people to acquaint themselves with the consciousness of security as to protecting their business codes and other similar secrets.

Most people become too careless about their concrete, and abstract assets without considering the risk of losing their firm, or investment. If we are careful enough, even most messages are not supposed to be retrained in our device, such as cell phones, or computers as the case may be. I think we do this because we too sure that our devices are only used by us, and therefore, what is the need of privacy..?

That is the problem with the 'black man's, we are usually full of ourselves beyond the possibility, and the reality of life. We claim to be smart, and wise, yet to an extent, we find ourselves regretfully in a shit. The truth be told, the 'black man' thinks he has everything under his control, therefore, no need to worry. Although, I won't also forget the fact that a man is certain to make mistakes, or even fall in temptations, but all these still need absolute discipline, and consciousness.

The access codes expire quickly, usually after just a few minutes, so you must generate a new code to view someone's data.
The main financial messages you might want to delete are emails from exchanges concerning deposits, withdrawals, or P2P transactions.

In our country, where police often check people's devices even if it's against the law, having these messages on your phone or in your email could raise suspicion and force you to explain your connection to cryptocurrency. Therefore, it's safer to delete these specific types of emails from your devices.

I think I'm trying to understand what you actually meant here by not deleting the OTP's sent from our crypto transactions. Because on the contrary those OTP's do have an expiry timeframe, but at least by leaving those messages in your Gmails will be easy for any scammer or arm robber who could have access to your Gmail to know which apps you have the most money in your mobile phone. Because I think that's the point O.P is trying to drive us to. Which is still not a bad idea, and most times, including our Credit and Debit alert SMS messages on our phones. It's advisable to also delete it immediately after you have done your transactions for security reasons too.

You actually made a really important point here, and this is something a lot of people overlook until it becomes too late. It's not just about deleting authentication emails - it's about building a privacy mindset. In this space, most of us talk about "security"- using strong password, 2FA or cold wallets - but we forget that true safety starts with privacy. Privacy isn't just abt hiding what you have, it's about protecting ur peace, your identity and sometimes even your life. So when you leave these authentication emails or otp codes, you're literally leaving clues for anyone who gains access to your device. A simple code or message might not look dangerous, but in the wrong hands, it's all someone needs to trace or exploit ur account

It's not just about deleting emails - it's about forming habits that protect your digital life. Never store wallet backup phrases or private keys in your phone gallery or notes app. Don't use the same email on all your crypto platforms and please delete old verification messages. This might seem like a small steps but they can make a huge difference.

Privacy in crypto isn't just a rule; it's survival. It's a way of staying alive in a digital world that never forgets. So protect yourself today, because sometimes one careless click is all it takes to lose everything

You talk sense for here sha because those people wey dey close to us na be our real enemy no be people wey dey outside because e better say person no even give room for any kind of scam from someone close to you than to come dey find solution when the did has already been done. As for the yahoo boys you use give an instance, if dem wan defraud themselves dat one no concern me because normally people wey dey do fraud dey later defraud themselves so nothing really concern me for their own matter. About sending phishing links, that is why it is important to enable a phishing codes so that e go help you to identify between phishing links and the ones that comes from the platform or exchange you are dealing with.

I agree with you 100%. Nowadays, these notifications are coming everywhere online, which is an annoying and risky task.

Scammers always try to take access to our entire mobile using new ways. With this type of popup notification, the work of scammers has become easier. Whenever we try to browse for any topic, the notification comes first. There is no skip/close button to remove those annoying notifications. If we touch the screen before this skip/close button becomes visible, we are immediately redirected to their website. This type of risky notification is really annoying.

So I think we all need to be careful of this type of notification.

It is very important to keep your cryptocurrency transactions safe and secured, and not allowing a third party to get access to your device or messages that are related to your cryptocurrency transactions, and to do this , ensure that your device is always locked, and someone must get your permission before gaining access to your device. And furthermore, you can even decide to Lock your email app so that someone will not get access to your mails and turn off any cryptocurrency related messages.

Scammers are always hunting for your personal information for them to be able to strike , without a scammer gaining access to your wallet information, it will be difficult for them to attack your account, so let the security of your account be your primary concern.

True true, these OTP codes Dey get very short time frame for them to expire and become completely useless also and if you turn off notification, e no mean say you no go still receive mail. The mail go surely land for your email inbox and that na watin the OP Dey try lay emphasis on. Day e no good to Dey allow those mails stay there, e Dey practically useless after the trade and which ever history way Dey you interesting, e go still Dey for your exchange transaction history or activities.

By allowing the mails them to remain for there, e show anyone way through whatever means get access to your mail get a digital footprint of your activities and e go drag their attention come your side. When them see how frequent and the volume of trades you Dey make.

Another thing be say, e Dey clog up your storage space and e no really help for better organization of your mail, e go serve good purpose to Dey delete them some kind times.

Privacy is a topic that will always be talked about to show just how important it is to our lives and finances.
The codes for verification purposes gotten either through text or email has a time limit and after the time elapse, the code becomes useless. Also, after use, the code also becomes useless. So deleting such emails or text does nothing to help with your privacy or save a life. While it does little to protect your privacy, it still doesn't hurt to delete them. Perhaps to create some space  Smiley.
Your emails, text on your device are and should be private with no one easily having access to them.

Generally security matters especially when it comes to tech are stuffs that are surpose to be treated with utmost carefulness because when we are talking about security issues we are definitely talking about you, your privacy is you so you get to be more concern and careful about it otherwise you land yourself in trouble.

Apart from you been scammed by your friends or close associates through undelete messages in your email account or stuff like that it's also very important you keep some apps on your phone private, as in try having a app hider that can hide some of your sensitive apps like your Binance, bybit, electrum etc, because have seen a senero when I was traveling using a public transport were two guys was arrested at my very present by police because those app was fund on their phones and they were tagged as yahoo boys and were been taking away, we must ensure to take all this minor things serious because most people are pend on giving other people pain.

Well, from my experiences, most of those email authentication codes, including that of SMS as well do come with expiry time, it could be active for let's say 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes or more though the highest I've seen myself is 10 minutes, what this simply mean is that after this time elapses, the code becomes usable any more and I personally think this helps increase security, because even if some hackers manage to get access to that person's mail messages, they can't do anything with the codes because they are already expired.

The only way is if the hacker also have the login details of the site or app service, they can always request a new code and this is very bad since they already have access to the email..

But then, being privacy minded is very important especially for us who work online, and possibly have money saved up somewhere online in the form of crypto currencies and even online banking.
So the advice you gave is very valid and one everyone of us must treat as very important.

True and very wise advice actually, delete sensitive messages from your phone to advoid asking yourself to many questions later in life. I have a friend that lost all his assets because he gave his phone for repairs and he had his messages where the transaction he does pop up and he doesnt delete them, he collected his phone 2 days later and after like a week he started noticing reductions but because he spends anyhow he first assumed it was his spending, weeks later the amount get increasing and at one point, they cleared everything so always delete sentitive messages, you cant even say "you wont get anyone your phone" becuase you can never predict the future so just be conscious

Thanks for this reminder. I always only look at such mails from the aspect that even if someone gets to see them (the possibility of that happening is low), they can't use them since the code would have expired, but looking at it from this direction, you explain there is actually real danger here, adding to how some code comes with transaction amount details and some are deposit confirmation mails, etc. If one can't keep their phone from being accessed by others, getting rid of such messages can save lives.

Any one time password (OTP) or authentication code always has a duration which they will expire and once it gets to the time, I doubt if that number can be useful again because even when we are trying to transact and then the internet connection is bad there by making our OTP not to come quick, if peradventure it comes after that duration it won't work in your transaction and you will be ask to request for another one so even if this type of OTP is exposed to someone there's nothing they can use it to do because it has expired but to be on the safer side it will be better we don't allow this for security reasons.

There is no way on earth a previously used security code can be reused for another session, whether you delete it or not, it has expired, it's just like 2fA (2 factor authentication) if a reputable CEX's can be easily breached like that, the would've been sued already for having a lax security system,
It is called 2FA for a reason, and that is to add a second layer of security to your account, they usually do that so that if maybe your account is compromised, it can't be easily logged in or accessed unless they have access to your email, and if they have access to your email, there is no amount of deletion that will save your account cause they can even change your password and do whatsoever they want.

I will not encourage anyone here to save any code for phone or system, because you don't know what will happen in the future that will make someone that understand how to search some activities of the owner of the phone or system and it will be easy for the person to get some information that will lead  the scammer to gain access to your coins or money. I don't leave any password or code of my wallet to my phone or laptop than to write them down and delete them completely from my phone or laptop, because there is a way you will delete those massages from your phone or laptop, it will be hard for scammers to gain access to your coins or money.

The best way to make your privacy safe and secure is to write them down, because is only you will know what the code and password is use for in your house, because even your husband or children will not understand what the code and password is use for and it will make your coins safe for long years.

Privacy should not be expected to be given, instead, we go for it and acquire it for our own benefits, we clneed to start these by learning how to be free from the use of centralized platforms, currency and go decentralized, also, bitcoin is the current and most helpful path through which we can have and maintain our privacy in financial economy, because we can't afford not to learn more about this in other to prevent further regulatory challenges.
