Ⱥ Aurcoin (AUR) - A New Genesis for Digital Gold

The Vision
This is a call to developers who believe in Bitcoin's original vision: a pure, peer-to-peer electronic cash system.
Aurcoin is a project to create a new genesis for this vision—a currency fortified for the quantum era. Our philosophy is one of purity and purpose. We are building a lean, powerful monetary asset, deliberately excluding features for on-chain data storage (NFTs, etc.) to prevent bloat and maintain a singular focus on sound money.
The Core Pillars:
Quantum Resistance: The ultimate goal, ensuring long-term security.
True Decentralization: CPU-mineable via RandomX. No ASICs.
Ultimate Scarcity: A fixed, low supply to serve as a true store of value.

Project Status & A Call for Collaboration

We have a functional core ready for development. The codebase is a fork of Bitcoin Core with RandomX Proof-of-Work successfully integrated. It compiles, runs, and can be mined on a testnet with standard CPUs.
The foundation is set. Now, we need to build the core team to carry this project to launch and beyond.

The Ultimate Goal vs. The Immediate Priority
Our ultimate vision is to integrate a Post-Quantum Signature scheme (e.g., Falcon, Dilithium) to make Aurcoin a true, long-term store of wealth.
However, we are pragmatic. We recognize that PQC integration is a significant R&D effort. Therefore, the immediate priority is to launch a secure and stable network based on our secondary principles. We are prepared to launch with the battle-tested ECDSA if PQC integration requires a longer research phase. The core team will make this strategic decision together.

We are looking for collaborators with the following skills to form our founding development team:
Bitcoin Core / C++ / Cryptography Developer(s): To lead the research and implementation of the PQC signature scheme. This is the keystone of the project's long-term vision.
Build & Release Engineer(s): To manage the build process, compile binaries for all major platforms (Windows, macOS, Linux), create installers, and streamline the release cycle.
Repository Maintainer(s): To manage the GitHub repository, review and merge pull requests, and maintain a clean, professional codebase.
Technical parameters like block time, block size, and final supply cap (proposed range: 2.1M - 10.5M) are open for discussion and will be finalized by this core team.

A 100% Fair Launch.

Aurcoin will be a community-driven project with no excessive premine, no ICO, and no founder's reward.
Bootstrap Phase: The mainnet will be initiated in a closed environment for approximately one week, run by the core contributing developers. This is not a testnet; these will be the first real blocks of the Aurcoin blockchain, mined at the initial difficulty. The purpose is to establish a stable chain history and ensure all systems are functioning correctly before the public release. Please don't take it as "premine".
Public Launch: After the bootstrap phase, the full source code and binaries will be published here. The network will then be open for everyone in the world to mine.
Get Involved
If you have skills in the areas listed above and this vision resonates with you, we need your expertise.
Please reply to this thread to introduce yourself, share your thoughts, or ask questions. All initial discussions will be held here to ensure full transparency and build a strong community foundation from day one.

I don't think it's a big issue. The ticker can be finalized later anyway.

Not right now, but contributions and an active community is welcome, and that's what we're gathering before launch.

Read fully, it says devs will run a closed mainnet for around a week. In this they can mine. But it's not that premine in which developer holds more than 1-5% of total supply. It's for long term growth and development + exchange listing.

Hi!

Indeed, this is not a big issue, more important than the ticker is the name of the project, which, Aurcoin, if you ask me is too generic and also "coin" in the name is kind of outdated, we are in 2025, after all. For a strong project you need an unique, easy to remember name, and last a ticker which is not taken, as @psycodad suggested is a good move. This will denote professionalism, meaning you guys did at least a bit of research in the space.

Here are few name suggestions:

Aurium
Orochain
Goldera

or use ChatGPT for name and ticker.

This is my two cents. Anyways, good luck with your project!

To BUY or not To SELL?
That's the real question!

Hello guys, please excuse my limited English. Although I'm not a programmer, I truly admire your project and spirit, and I'd like to express my respect to you here. If there's any testing or collaboration needed, I'd be willing to actively participate. If there's a community or any other way for us to get involved, please feel free to share it.I am proficient in using Linux/Windows systems, familiar with the Lazarus development tool, and have my own small ASIC mining farm. However, I am more optimistic about CPU projects and continue to follow them closely.

So one week premine?

Yes. But not only for one person. It's for all contributors/devs. If we get a large number of contributors we may extend it to 1 month. Contributor's aren't limited to developers, they can be node runners, content creation, marketing, even active community members etc.

Hi I’m interested in contributing.
I have experience with Gitian builds, release automation and packaging for multiple platforms Linux/Windows/macOS.I can help streamline the build/release process and assist with verifying binaries for public releases.
Also I can make how-to guide videos on mining or buying coin videos.
I did these in Catcoin Project before.
Looking forward to collaborating.

So one week premine?

You are right to call this out, and I apologize for the confusing and contradictory messages.

1. There is no premine. A premine is when a developer allocates a percentage of the total supply to themselves before public launch. That is not happening.
2. The "Bootstrap Phase" was poorly named by me. A better term is a "Developer Headstart." Its sole purpose is to reward the small group of core technical contributors who will spend hundreds of hours building the final product.

The new, firm policy is this:
  • The headstart period will be a maximum of 7 days. It will not be extended.
  • It is open only to individuals who make significant, verifiable technical contributions to the codebase (C++ dev, builds, repo maintenance).
  • This is not for marketers, community members, or node runners. There will be other ways to reward the community later, but this initial phase is strictly for the builders.
I was wrong to suggest extending it or including non-technical roles. That was a mistake. It will be a fair launch, and that means the reward must be proportional to the work. The vast majority of the initial supply will be mined by the public, starting on day 8.

...more important than the ticker is the name of the project, which, Aurcoin, if you ask me is too generic and also "coin" in the name is kind of outdated...
...I truly admire your project and spirit, and I'd like to express my respect to you here. If there's any testing or collaboration needed, I'd be willing to actively participate...

Thank you both for feedback and support.

@othell_rogue - You're right, a strong identity is crucial, which is why we chose 'Aurcoin.' The name is derived from Aurum, the Latin word for gold, and connects directly to the "digital gold" vision. We've even established unique Unicode symbols (Ⱥ for Aurcoin, for aurits) to build a strong brand from day one. However, this is a community project, and if there's a compelling argument for a different name, I'm definitely open to hearing it.

@talbert - Thank you. We absolutely need passionate people to help with testing, running nodes, and building the community.

To facilitate these discussions and organize our efforts, An official Discord server will be created. This will be our community's home.

LOL, nice try, but a premine is any time one or more people have had access to mining a coin before the general public. It doesn't have to be set percentages allocated by the dev... That is the most ridiculous definition I have EVER heard.

Okay thanks for correcting.
So there will be no premining. All binaries will be listed on GitHub and mining would start that day. We'll be creating a donation address which will be used for exchange listings and marketing.
But still need PQ devs to implement Falcon/quantum-resistant signature algorithms in current core (RandomX is already done)
