Many of us here might have experienced what we call near misses, like those who played slot machines and could have won a "major", but unfortunately you pick the wrong character and then you slide down to "minor" or "mini" win.

If I have lost all the money that I want to use to gamble for the week, I will stop gambling immediately until next week. If I am losing, it is not motivating me to continue to gamble. There are times that I may stop gambling before all my weekly money for gambling is lost while I will prefer to later gamble like the following day or some days after.

No gambler will like to lose but if they lose all their money and still prefer to deposit to continue to gamble and which is not in their plan, that is gambling addiction.

I don't think it will motivate me, unless I get a fortune and my capital changes tremendously. At the end of the day, we know that gamblers won't be the "winner", so recklessly playing more just because you miss the previous jackpot because a single digit difference isn't a wise choice. Epecially when there are many factors outside of our control that decide which next number or game will be the jackpot. It isn't like we have a guarantee that if we change one or two numbers, it'll definitely be the next jackpot anyway.

Nope- it only worsened my habits thinking that I could repeat the same luck.

This happened when my father used to (well he still does) buy lottery tickets on our country. Not a single day did he miss playing the lottery and it came to a point that he won five (5) numbers out of six. This garnered him a win of around $10,000. The problem is, until this very day, he is chasing that "high" of winning the lottery and he still believes that he could repeat the same luck.

This is an interesting observation and I agree with you.

Casinos feed on this kind of luck on the players and this what keeps them going profitable ever since. I do have a theory that some casinos "trick" their players in slots by calibrating a near-miss experience (but predetermined) on their slots to eep their players going.

Near misses does not mean a way the gambling sites are luring people to gamble more. In reality, losses are losses, regardless of near misses or not. Anyone losing while gambling will not feel like gambling again at the time he is losing, unless the person is a gambling addict.

I believe that if slot machine wants to give you a '1', it will give you a '1'. All the 'almost wins' shown are just illusions. No matter how hard we try & how much spin we do, it won't do anything. With that mindset, when I run out of capital to play after a loss, I will not continue by making new deposits. It doesn't make sense to continue playing where we have been lured by the prospect of winning.

I continue to bet normally; what motivates me is the betting itself; winning or losing is part of the game, and I don't try to figure out where I went wrong, if at all. I also don't dwell on my mistakes; wanting to win at all costs borders on addiction, on a loss of control. it depends on where i am with the context of my gambling situation for example if i had just started and i already had a near miss then i will surely be more motivated to go again but if it’s been a few rounds of nothing and i am nearing losing my money then a near miss would just make me want to stop

Is this the slot games when you hit some bonus play is you need to choose box/es to get the mini, minor major and grand ?
If yes I dont still think but not sure if this is programmed even you choose any boxes you will end up on the prize that is already there.

But the slot game lucky fortune I hit so many grand on that game, This is why i am not sure.

Before, it made me play more because I felt like I was near getting the biggest win. But, as I play slots longer, I realized that when you experience a near hit jackpot, you will not get it even if you play the whole day. It will just be a waste of money.

On the other hand, if you hit like x500 - x1000 in slots, there's a chance that you will hit again a large multiplier like x200 - x300. It happened to me so many times that I always continue whenever I get those kinds of multipliers.

There are instances where you hit x400 below, and after that, you won't hit anything anymore. The slots will just keep on taking it back. That's all, according to experience.

Near missed is an encouragement that I'm close to a big win. Its a preferred result for me than losing by a greater margin. It motivates me to gamble more as I always remind myself how close I was to securing a win. The only near misses  that annoys me is the ones I had the opportunity to avoid if I cashed out sooner but on the overalls is a motivation to me.

I gamble more when I still have balance to expend for the session but if I've already arrived at my threshold according to my budget, I kill the enthusiasm and postpone my gambling to the next session.

I may not quit, but I've learned what caused me to make mistakes and lose. From now on, I'll try to stay calm and control my emotions. In fact, excessive greed in gambling makes gambling more attractive. When I miss the jackpot when I am on the verge of winning or miss the bet when I am on the verge of winning, at that moment I feel like I am participating in gambling again and winning the jackpot. It is natural to have such a mentality because a person has greed and he will be motivated to make such decisions because of his greed. Gambling games are designed in such a way that you will be shown that you have missed a win for a while but basically it is just a strategy to keep you gambling. If you do not give up gambling after seeing this and are encouraged to spend time and money on gambling to get that win, then the results will never be good because it is basically their business strategy. So gambling cannot be thought of in any positive way, it can be considered only for entertainment, but if you think of it as a good way to get big wins, then I would say that is your wrong thinking.
