Over four years now we have being hearing that Nigeria have bitcoin ATM in Lagos, but the ATM machine is not causing attraction for Nigeria to have multiple ATM machines in different cities, I'm asking, The reason why Bitcoin ATM machine in Nigeria is not increasing? Doesn't it mean that the more people are using bitcoin ATM machine the more the machine will be allocate to different cities, or the problem behind Nigeria not to have Bitcoin ATM machine in other cities is because government have not approved use the machine in other cities, I want to know the reason, because it's over four (4) years we had only two (2) Bitcoin ATM machine in lagos but till date no additional machine in Nigerian

As Bitcoiners what do you think that can make Nigeria to have more bitcoin machine in different cities of Nigerian, at least one (1) ATM machine across well pronounced cities..Having it is it by total numbers of people who use the machine daily, weekly and annually? Or is by Government approval or its being given or stalls by Exchanges?. Or a personal Business?.

No need to mention our names. We are going to see the topic. Names are often mentioned as references in relation to help.

The ATM machines are both expensive in the fee they are deducting from users. It can be 10% of the coins that you want to buy or sell. Why P2P in Nigeria now is of no fee on almost all P2P exchanges. If Nigerians see cheap alternatives, they will move towards it than to pay exorbitantly in fee.

What do you need bitcoin ATM for? is it necessary? how many people are into bitcoin in the country or you want to use the statistics of Nigerians who are into bitcoin through the forum to think that many people are into bitcoin? Do you even know the security threat it will cause to have a bitcoin ATM across the states in the country. Another question should be if the Nigerian government has officially accepted bitcoin because as it stands now, a lot of people who are into bitcoin are still afraid of coming out open which i even think it's not necessary to parade as bitcoin enthusiasts. The security of our country is very porous which means that having a bitcoin ATM will indeed jeopardize the safety of those who might want to make use of the ATM. Let us focus on things that are more important for the government to act on rather than seek for a bitcoin ATM.

Firstly, you should know that the bitcoin ATM in Lagos wasn't mounted by the government but by the owner of Dazey bar and lounge. Nigeria government hasn't fully shown their support for crypto and this current administration still show some threat to crypto users in the country. For this reason, some businesses that would have install Bitcoin ATM in their premises will not feel free to do that. Just like what Charles-Tim said, we Nigeria love cheaper service, nobody will go and pay expensively to convert his bitcoin to fiat through bitcoin ATM when p2p is free or charge 0.5% on your p2p transactions.

The government has no fault in the slow adoption of bitcoin ATM in Nigeria, Nigerians should be blamed for it because they are not using it and it discourage the ATM operators to expand the business. Government has not attacked any bitcoin ATM legally or illegally before in Nigeria.

Installing these ATM machines everywhere is a waste of funds because the common man cannot make use of it. Trust me if the Bitcoin ATM machine was at your disposal, you may not want to use it because  it charges much higher fees than normal exchanges. The fees charged are revolving around 5% -20% per transaction while exchanges charge as low as less than 1%  and some a flat
rate.
Binance charges $3.33 flat rate only.

You are wasting your money because there are many exchanges that is charging nothing for their p2p, it is better you do not use Binance, use exchanges that have p2p and with lower or zero fee. I can not use exchanges that will charge me 5000 naira.

When I mentioned about Binance I was talking about transaction fees to send your coins to another wallet on chain and not P2P. Binance disabled Naira P2P ages ago

P2P charges almost nothing for some exchanges I agree, I believe the only place I've done P2P and got charged is on Bitget which I sold 732 USDT and was charged 3.66 USDT as fee. Most times is not going for free exchanges that's the matter but going for those that has good rates and have good reputation. Some of the rates I see on BYBIT was very discouraging and its stressful going through all of them to get a good one which is the reason I dumped them

Bitget has began to charge people since some time ago, it is one of the exchanges that I can not use. If you want to enjoy P2P, try gate.com, you will like it. It is not having any fee there but zero fee. The rate is better than Bybit if you want to exchange 10 to $50 or more.

What you've just said is the truth, Charles-Tim,  it's not about being in the early days cause if Nigeria was ready for it, there would've been lots of Bitcoin machines after the first ones in Lagos got introduced since 2021 till now, as big as Nigeria, the only place we can boost of that is Lagos, not like ìt's the only big city in the country, that's to tell you that Nigerian's are not ready for it yet.
Although many things contributed to why there's not much Bitcoin ATM's in our nation but when we're ready for it there would be much of it spread across different cities, those who have adopted it are very comfortable with carrying out transactions online and at their own convenience but with time when there's mass adoption across the country maybe there would be need for Bitcoin ATM machines.

Does Nigeria really have a bitcoin ATM ? Because I’m really confused because I haven’t heard Nigerian having a bitcoin ATM. And wondering where I can actually find this in Nigeria so I can actually try and make use of them, and it will be also good if we can have more bitcoin ATM in Nigeria mostly especially in the Urban area because I can see that we have few of them in the urban areas but I’ve never see anyone in Nigeria, maybe if we have them in Lagos they should also try and expand it to the right one to other developed areas in the country.

I doubt any is functioning at the moment or the very least if others may want to use especially from thier ridiculous fee. Although for enthusiasm it's still something that may worth it to get the experience.
These sites will help with info of their location:
https://coinatmradar.com/country/156/bitcoin-atm-nigeria/
https://atm.bitcoin.com/locations/nigeria/bitcoin-atm-lagos/

Also governmental uncertainty makes things difficult here because one advantage is see of this is tourist attraction.

We shouldn't try to get something cause it will be aesthetically innovative but for is usefulness. There is no demand for ATMs with lots of alternative routes to buying Bitcoin. There is also the issue if security and privacy which will discourage people from actually using the machines if they were more available.

I will appreciate it if anyone has data on how functional the 2 Bitcoin ATMs are.

We neva even manage awa regular Bank ATMs finish, e com remain Bitcoin ATM. Anyway, d truth be sey even if we get am plenty for Naija, many people nor go wan near am, including me. Why I go wan expose myself like dat for Naija? We dey kontry where once persin know sey u dey into cryptos, their mindset dey be sey u don hammer and dem go com with dat begging mentality. Make e com remain sey dem com see u transact am. Dat wan go be double jeopardy na. Even area boys and police go dey hang around such ATMs dey wait who dem go obtain na.

For now, Bitcoin ATM nor be great idea sef for us. Insecurity too much.

Nigeria already has a few Bitcoin ATMs in Lagos more are expected to come soon but it's still early days.
According to what I have read before, I found out as op said that BTC ATM machine is in lagos and why people are not using it, is because it have high charge than normal transaction done by Exchange, except that you wants to experience how it operates, and why is not having traffic in Nigeria is because people in Nigerian is not using bitcoin to buy anything, people that suppose to make Bitcoin price to come up and make use of Bitcoin ATM machine to function actively in Nigeria is filling station like fuel station, because every one make use of fuel and if they accepts bitcoin and also have the machine were you can pay with bank card, you will see that bitcoin ATM machine will be over Nigeria, but such thing can't take place because many business people in Nigeria no value bitcoin

Sometimes I think we should talk about the possibilities,in as much as possible that we want Bitcoin to spread and become our daily used doesn't mean government will provide ATM machine, you have not talk of government making provisions of light and providing employment, or either creating  awareness for Bitcoin to be known to the audience you are talking of BTC ATM Machine,I Don't think that is necessary ,abi  you want to be paying maintenance frees everyday, and another thing government will want to provide something that will be easy and more helpful to the citizens reason because is not everybody that are using BTC.

Nigeria is not the kind of country that needs a Bitcoin atm maçhine.bitcoin has not gone commercial enough in the country.and people using it will prefer using p2p for transactions instead of going to the atm.except is in a high secured place.except the banks are willing to be a part of it, because this country is not secure enough for it.make Nigerian police go dey sleep there as there office and hold any person who comes out of there and say you be yahoo boy how you take  get Bitcoin.is so sad we are not ready for it if the government are part of it .it can work in the bank.
