https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5562391.0;topicseen

a lot of hype here.

someone posted that this is a known scammer, and the OP deleted their post.

someone posted there is a virus in the core file.  that got deleted.

i asked, what virus got reported or just windows false hit,  and that got deleted.

another asked a question and promptly got deleted.

It seems that any time someone asks them a ? that is challenging, they delete the post, not allowed to voice any concerns or negativity.  You would think a new coin would try to justify itself and answer questions.  You know, show it's legitimately and sincerity

By deleting anything bad immediately, you look like a scam.  Why not defend yourself?  Why not answer a simple question?  Are you the scammer that was listed with a big handful of other past scams?

Your behavior looks just like a scammer.    Are you?

Anytime I see a project announcement thread which has been posted as self-moderated automatic, it has dropped some suspicion in me about them until they prove otherwise, and now that they have deleted comments which they consider as a threat to their service that also increases the level of suspicions one should have for them.

In case anyone is curious about what might have been posted in the thread but got deleted by the OP, here is the archived version of the thread - https://ninjastic.space/topic/5562391

Honestly, self-moderating such ANN's and not taking any constructive criticism is the first red flag
OP can you please help and publish the result showing that the software could be containing any malicious code? Maybe he might get red tagged or flagged.

As for his relationship to the other names posted, i have no clue.

As for the virus accusation, again, not sure BUT do know that windows loves to flag wallets as virii'  so asked, for clarification, is this a real virus or possibly a false flag.  This way if it's a false, and the poster of that comment, perhaps jumped the gun on the virus threat, we can mitigate that with the truth.

and if it turns out to be a scam, we can warn folks to steer clear, while they remove it, or whatever they do around here now.

the fact that the coin owner, deletes everything that is not cupcakes and puppy dogs, raises huge suspicions.  been there done that countless times over the 12 plus years ive been cryptoing.

thank you

It does seem to be a part of low effort clones launched by the same person. The websites for all these coins share the same Cloudflare name servers. I won’t download the wallet to see if there is malware or not, but even if there isn’t, I don’t know why anybody would want to waste electricity mining something which the developer has no intention of supporting long term and it will be difficult to sell those coins on any exchange.

Well that's the thing Finney,  pump and dump,  very common.
hype the hell out of it,  put it up whore it until the sun goes down.  sell your coins as fast as you can, pull the rug up, and ride off into the sun set.

many people just wait for these because they prey on them, because there ARE so many kids who get into them, because, ooh it looks cool,  oh it's new.  ooh i like lizards, in this case,  oh i can make a million overnight (never mind that the last 8 of those failed), etc etc.

they'll mine them for the quick one shot.  and if it is a merge coin that can merge mine with doge / ltc and whatever other half dozen you are already mining, why not, you already are spinning the hash cycles.

big profits to be made off these from the many fools who fall for them over and over again.  i won't waste my time there, and given it's exploitative in nature, i won't for my own moral reasons, but many will.  that's why they keep popping up.

i can warn folks of the scam, the rest is up to them.
if it's a virus, i can rally to try to have it removed..its the right thing to do.
if it's just another shit coin, with no genuine harmful intents, then i can shrug, wish them luck and watch them go on their merry way.

there are suspicions though as to what they are up to.  trying to clear the air.

thank you

I have analyzed the wallet file, and it’s clearly unsafe as it was flagged by 3 antivirus programs as Trojan.TR.

Therefore,, I strongly advise everyone not to download or install this wallet for this new project on their main devices.

I have already reported the topic created by this user, and I hope the thread will be removed and the user’s account banned, as he promoted a fake shitcoin project with the sole intent of hacking investors’ devices, nothing more, nothing less.

This is my post reporting that user: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5182222.msg65950133#msg65950133

Avoid to join a project if you don't really understand their fault on coding (like viruses and so on thanks @albon for share your insight).

The problem anyway would be with most of meme and other altcoins. On the first sight, all appears to be a scam. No more nor less.
How can you trust or not tag anything as a scam? How we can really make a difference between "rugpull" and real deficit in a project?

You're very welcome. What you said is absolutely right, and thanks also to the OP for sharing this warning topic. It’s clear that my report has paid off since the scammer’s thread was deleted.. I believe his account got banned too, right?

The problem anyway would be with most of meme and other altcoins. On the first sight, all appears to be a scam. No more nor less.

There are many legitimate projects, but new projects today are effectively a graveyard for investors’ money.

Those who are able to conduct in-depth research and analyze smart contracts, verify liquidity locks, and check the project's wallet holdings, as well as analyze the whitepaper (if available), and ensure the team's expertise and the technology offered by the project, etc (rather than just another worthless meme coin) will undoubtedly be able to spot red flags that will help them avoid investing from the start.

In the end, it remains a huge risk in the field of altcoins, and it requires extensive experience and knowledge from every investor, because who invest randomly will almost certainly lose their funds.

Im glad I could help.  As a community we all must stick together and police our own.  If we see someone doing something wrong, we need to act on it and remove the bad actors, it's up to US whether our reputations are good or bad.

Thank you for doing a deeper dive and seeing what that was really about, my skillset is not quite there, and probably never will be  Grin

@albon the problem is, most people, especially kids, don't care if it's bad or not.  They see a new coin, don't care if it's a shitcoin or not, but do know, that because of people like them, it's probably going to do a cat kick, so are hoping to get in on the first hop, then hop off as it shoots down the drain.  Working together we can hopefully teach them to not do this and discourage any involvement so eventually one day, this all is not worth the effort for them to try to scam.

I completely agree with you. Scammers are active in this field and especially in this large forum, so we must cooperate and help each other expose their tactics to ensure they have no place among us.

Also, my friend Aaron, if you see anything that violates the forum [rules], you should click the "Report to moderator" button below the offending post, and the moderators will review it as soon as possible, and if it’s proven to violate the forum’s rules, they will definitely remove it.

Thank you for doing a deeper dive and seeing what that was really about, my skillset is not quite there, and probably never will be  Grin
Haha, don’t worry, with time, you’ll get there. We all started small before gaining the necessary experience. Good luck to you!

These people are simply greedy people who chase opportunities, and if luck is on their side, they might make profits; if not, they could lose all their money in an instant. Many meme coins were created solely to scam investors. Unfortunately, many know this, yet they still risk more than they can afford to lose. We can only hope that investors stop pouring their money into these meme coins and instead turn to Bitcoin and safer investments, which are far more worthwhile.

I get your disdain for memecoins but there are just as many scams for bitcoin out there as well, not to mention,  some of the MC's,  ill throw Doge, and LTC i guess you could call a meme or altcoin, been around forever, are not scams, and do have a purpose.

Perception is a lot too, and if everyone is right, btc is going to hit a million a coin in a few years, with that, doing every day transactions, the way our brains are wired, the way were brought up on our fiat's, me getting a loaf of bread and paying  0.00000251 of a coin seems.. off.  So BTC is more like the old 1000 bills they used to have when I was a kid, something only banks really moved around.  But now you have LTC, where I can get all my groceries, and pay 3.45850000 coins, it's a bit more realistic 'looking' number, for lets call it midlevel purchases, and smallstuff,  that loaf of bread for say 15 Doge,  Doge is the new penny,  LTC the dollar / pound / Yen etc and BTC the rich mans coin.. in a way.

Plus there is the trading aspect, and the greed aspect too.  When the market gets stupid and btc transactions start costing 20 and 30, 50 dollars a pop, and I can pay in LTC and only be charged a nickle a pop, or doge, and it's maybe a penny, that's a lot more lucrative, and cost effective, and at the end of the day, you still got paid with a reliable coin.

The newbies can trade a lot easier on them too,  they can get started with as little as maybe 10 dollars and learn trading, .vs. needing maybe several hundred dollars in btc.  then the spread cover,  btc needs to move a few thousand dollars to cover just the fees of a trading pair,  but with Doge,  3 or 4 can do it, and we all know that market can move that much in a day no problem.  There are justifications for the alt / meme coins out there imo.

thank you
Aaron
