I was reviewing the
Nigeria local board, and I noticed most topics are in English, which lets anyone join, even non-locals as its easy to participate. Nigeria has Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo, and the official language is English, so it makes sense their local board grew.
For us in the Philippines, we deal with the same thing. Government and business communication are in English, and even the live streams of deliberations are mostly in English. We have many dialects like Bisaya, Tagalog, Ilonggo, and more.
So maybe we should post more topics in English to attract more participation in our local. I’m not saying we stop Tagalog or Bisaya, just mix in more English so more people can jump in. Do you think this would help our board grow?
