Hello everyone,

at Bitcoin-Safe, we aim to make the desktop software compatible with the most secure hardware wallets in the market. You can check the full list of supported Hardware Wallet and Signer here https://bitcoin-safe.org/en/knowledge/supported-hardware-signers/

The (alphabetically ordered) list in the poll feature all the current devices we currently support. Did we miss any? What other Bitcoin wallet you'd like us to check for compatibility? Which wallets we should avoid?

Voted Coldcard Mk4, because it's bitcoin-first, air-gapped PSBT over microSD and has strong multisig/descriptor support and a long track record.

Mk4 is the cleaner security tradeoff, and a pretty good UX too.

Trezor should be on the top of the list.
They are the first company who created hardware wallet (signer) Trezor One, and this device is still manufactured today.
I think they have one of the best open source devices in the market with release of new Trezor Safe 7.

Other devices I like is Foundation Passport, Seedsigner in combination with Satochip cards, and upcoming Keycard Shell looks very interesting.

Ive been using the trezor wallet since 2022 and its offered always a patch update for their firmware to make sure its safe at all. Also avoid possible vulnerabilities if you just have a friendly budget of course getting the lower version is good too like the Trezor one but if you want to have a lot of supported coins ideal to get the higher version. Even the Electrum for the sign is just okay so still its up to you if you just use the trezor for sign only or also for holding most of your asset. Im trying to upgrade this year but of course the cost + shipping fee and tax makes me itchy and my wallet.

I voted for Foundation Core, although the name you listed is a bit misleading. The correct name should be Passport Core.

Please make sure that the Bitcoin-Safe wallet you're developing can be paired with Passport Core via an optical channel using the QR code, rather than the method used by Electrum.

P.S. It seems like your wallet is essentially the fork that modifies  Electrum code in some way. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I've been using trezor for a long time, this thing just never break, but coldcard is freaking cool there, I liked the design.

But software wise I still trust my trezor much more than the other, it's what I'm familiar with and since i'm familiar, there's lesser chance I'd make a mistake using their front end. Maybe i will wait until my trezor broken first.

For Bitcoin I always used Electrum. Its free. And all you need is an old laptop that you never plan on connecting to the internet.

You make your key offline, write down your seed or keep it on the computer, and then you take that master key and load it on Electrum because its a public master key and it gives you the address and you can load your transaction.

When you want to spend, you create a transaction, save it to a usb drive, and load it on the offline computer, sign it, and do the reverse by loading it back on the online computer and you just broadcast it. Its open source and free.

That sounds good actually, the only concern is redundancy for backup in case we face hardware failure. Hardware wallet usually sell their wallet in bundle with steel plate to store phrase for people who really care about security and redundancy.
As for electrum, we need to take step further and have raid 1 storage solution minimum or just store the seed phrase else where safe. But im intrigued with your solution honestly. Very interesting.

Some more thoughts:

1. if the offline laptop has a camera,
2. if you bring your offline laptop where your online laptop is (or if you already have them at the same place)

you can just scan QR codes, instead of using USB drives.

Airgapped is the best, there is nothing else that beats airgapped devices, always offline and far more secured, I like the self destruct ability of keystone, if anyone tampered with it they will get a dead device, the hardware wallet is this sensitive.

I got a keystone device because of the security enhancement in the system, and it has never failed me, all you have to do is scan QRCode to activate any transaction, I have never regret my choice coming from a Ledger and Trezor user.

I mean to ask, is just scanning QR codes safe? Because the keystone wallet works different, you can only scan code to activate transactions and that's between your keystone app and the hardware wallet only.

I would prefer just these two hardware wallet, which are:
Ledger Nano X because it is well trusted and supports thousands of coins, element are secure for key protection which works with mobile and desktop mode.
Trezor Model T, for those who value full open source firmware and intuitive screen touch interface, this alternative is strong.

For Bitcoin-only wallet, I would say that the best two wallets are ColdCard and The Passport Foundation. For a maximum security, to my mind, ColdCard is the best, especially since it has a feature of Duress PIN, Brick Me PIN and Countdown to Brick PIN. Three of them are amazing features but they all come with their pros and cons. The Passport Wallet is very security too but it doesn't have Duress PIN. I would say that Passport, when compared to ColdCard, shines when it comes to User Experience.

By the way, if I wanted a hardware wallet where I would also be able to store altcoins, I would choose Trezor because it's one of the first, trusted, popular and open-source wallet too. But for maximum security, I would stick with ColdCard and Passport.

I voted for Paperwallet because it's still an offline storage method I quite like, giving the user more autonomy to store their private key/mnemonic.

Does bitcoin-safe have an option to import/scan private keys for addresses controlled by the hardware wallet?

Regarding hardware wallets, my favorites are Coldcard Q, Passport, and Krux, but I don't have any of them yet.

With regard to the question in the subject field, as a Trezor Model One & Safe 3 owner, I voted for Trezor.
- BTW, you might want to separate Keystone and Ledger in the poll.
