The world has changed SIGNIFICANTLY in the past decade. And in my opinion, the strongest change is transferring every thing to the digital surveilled world. More harsh restrictions and laws approached us. They came one at a time and took a piece of our Privacy with each of them.
A decade ago, you could still create a centralized Cryptocurrency Exchange account using an email and a password. You could withdraw with no requirement other than verifying a link in your email. You could withdraw Bitcoin from a lot of ATMs all around the world and nothing would be asked from you except the receiving Wallet Address.
Put Bitcoin to the side for a second. This still applies to the rest of the Internet. You could create a Facebook account with out having to give up much information about yourself. You could use Banking software on your Smart phone with out having to give up your identity to a Bank that already knows who you are anyway.
Today this is impossible. If you want to use a Bitcoin ATM then it is very likely that you will have to give up your ID. If you want a centralized Exchange account or a Banking software on your phone then you will have to give up both your ID, your mug shot, possibly a selfie video of your self and sometimes even more documentation. Proof of residence, proving the source of your income or deposited funds and what ever else.
AI is a subject we did not even imagine a decade ago. Yet it is now part of many peoples every day lives. But with AI, IDs are easier to fake. So are selfie videos and what not.
There are solutions to this. But our Governments will probably only come up with ONE solution.
The Digital ID.
They will tell you it will be impossible for your identity to be faked or stolen. And when disasters like Discord UK leaks happen they will shrugh their shoulders and move on like they never told you it will be safer.
They will tell you it is not going to remove any Privacy or rights while you will not be able to work with no Digital ID.
They will say it is going to make life easier for you because life will be hard with out it.
They will say it is going to massively dismantle terrorism because the opposition of Digital ID are in their eyes terrorists.
They will say your freedom of speech will be unaffected while Police will knock on your door when you give digital signs of willing to protest or rebel against surveillance.
They will say you must have nothing to hide if you are innocent while they are legally excluded from the surveillance themselves.
They will make sure you are flying less around the world because the more you fly, the more carbon fingerprints you will leave behind.
They will take money and assets from you if you protest because you will be flagged as a threat to National Security.
You will not own any of your own Money any more because it is always going to be in their custody. But do not worry, they will always pet you on your back re assuring you how protected you are if you comply.
Bitcoin will still give you financial freedom. But to use it legally, you have to bind your Addresses to your Digital ID because private Wallets and Cryptocurrencies will be outlawed.
Will you have the balls to continue using Bitcoin to rebel the New World and be financially free? Or will you be a good listening pet of the Government afraid to make your Nanny State sad and disappointed?

You're right about the direction of travel... Digital ID will be sold as convenience and safety, then quietly stapled to payments and logins. "Opt-in", unfortunately, becomes "or else." Bitcoin helps, but only if you use it like you're in hostile territory, not like a fintech app. The playbook to resist this is simple and it works. Self-custody with an air-gapped or hardware signer. Run your own node through Tor. Keep KYC coins in their own quarantined wallet and never commingle with non-KYC; coin control is table stakes. Prefer peer-to-peer and vouchers over exchanges when you can. For day-to-day spending, Lightning reduces footprint if you source channels privately and avoid custodial hubs. You should also rotate identifiers: no phone numbers in wallets, no address reuse, no "log in with anything." Backups are metal or paper in two places, passphrase-enabled, and you test restores. If you really care about this, you need to change your mentality and have an airtight opSec methodology. Separate personas, pay locally with cash or BTC where possible, turn off telemetry, use FOSS, and stop feeding the government with convenience defaults. Teach a shop to take BTC, seed a circular spend, and you weaken the ID choke point more than any thread will. Will you "fight" the "system"? Start by making your next transaction hard to map. Do that every week and help two other people do the same, because systems hate high friction at the edge, and our job is to keep adding it.

I would say if you want privacy, not security - BTC is not the best pick of the coin from the start.. And your words are true, because, clearly, the further we go - the more control people in the suits want. When they have tools to make it happen - they will. We wouldn't need to doubt that

You want control? Buy Bitcoin, invest in Bitcoin, hold Bitcoin and maybe probably spend using Bitcoin, but if you want privacy you are likely not going to get it, privacy coins are your best bet, like Monero and Dash among others.
Digital ID should work like your identity cards but in digital, it shouldn't mendle with your Bitcoin or how you should use your Bitcoin, KYC is still a bullshit that you shouldn't permit when doing your Bitcoin thing, you want to stay in control remember? Getting KYCed should end with your banks and your fiat money lifestyle.
The only power that we have is decentralisation, we have to keep it this way.

Will you have the balls to continue using Bitcoin to rebel the New World and be financially free? The real question is, do you have any other choice after knowing all that? You can comply and call it "safety", or you can resist and call it life. You live in a world where money expires, speech is filtered, and "freedom" is a word used to describe the ability to choose your own cage. What's left to lose by rebelling? Future? Already priced in. Truth? Already rewritten. Privacy? Lol. So, no. This isn't about "balls". It's about biology. Survival isn't optional. Bitcoin is not rebellion anymore. It's self-defense.
And I'm glad my orange pilling approach delivers results. People need to OPEN THEIR EYES.

The Digital ID.
Bitcoin will still give you financial freedom. But to use it legally, you have to bind your Addresses to your Digital ID because private Wallets and Cryptocurrencies will be outlawed.
Building infrastructures and enforcing citizens to obey with new legal and governmental requirements on Digital IDs will bring more bad things for citizen privacy. There will be less and less space for freedom, privacy in the future with digital ID era and even governments can not identify all Bitcoin and cryptocurrency addresses you have, you will have big troubles to file your tax reports and origins of your bitcoins or cryptocurrencies if you are not fully obeyed their requirements. If don't follow their guides, you will sooner or later be detected and financial fine against you will be very costly as governments always are not tolerated with your tax violation.

I've asked AI to write an response in BlackHatCoiner's style, but I only gave it 3 of his poems. I removed some lines that sounded like junk. Of course it is nowhere near as good as him, but I found it amusing and interesting. If you have copyright complaints BlackHatCoiner, sue ChatGPT and not me. You won’t need chains in the future. You’ll beg for them — because they’ll come with Wi‑Fi.
They told you convenience was progress. They forgot to mention it was collateralized with your soul.
Every transaction is a confession. Every click is a testimony. Every keystroke is a fingerprint signed in fear.
They’ll tell you it’s “for your safety.” Safety from what? From the version of yourself that still remembers what freedom felt like?
You’ll get your Digital ID. You’ll scan it to enter your job, your home, your own thoughts. You’ll verify your humanity by asking an algorithm for permission to exist.
They’ll call it progress. You’ll call it Tuesday.
When your fridge refuses to cool your beer until you recycle, When your car won’t start until you apologize for your carbon score, When your money expires at the end of the fiscal quarter — you’ll still call it “innovation.”
You won’t need to be arrested; your wallet will do it for you. You won’t need to be silenced; your feed will auto‑correct your opinions.
Bitcoin will sit there. Silent. Stubborn. Uncooperative. The last exit sign in a city that outlawed escape.
You’ll be told it’s dangerous. That only criminals use it. That privacy is suspicious, and sovereignty is subversive.
They’ll demand you bind your wallet to your Digital ID. You’ll sign your rebellion into compliance. You’ll chain your freedom to a QR code and call it regulation.
But Bitcoin doesn’t bend. It doesn’t beg. It doesn’t care who you are, only that you have the keys.
When they confiscate your speech, your carbon, your autonomy— it will still run.
Because it doesn’t need permission. You do.
So the question isn’t whether Bitcoin will survive the Digital ID world. It’s whether you will.
Will you be a citizen of code, or a pet of the State?
Because in the coming system, obedience is the new currency. And most of you are already rich.
Some of these lines are very good, they give me the shivers. I hope that we collectively do not let this happen or at the very least that there will be safe haven alternatives. I think the AI did a very good job considering I only fed it 3 poems by the user. I think it would do even better if we fed it all the creations by that user or someone could make an LLM off of him.

Digital profile already exists for a very long time, they can just find all of your details with your face alone but are you that important and is that necessary to know who you are. With internet you have ways still you can be anonymous to certain level but it doesn't mean you can do that in the real life too. For example, you can be an average computer technician in a company but on internet, you can be a part of something huge (Yes, Mr.Robot).

With internet you have ways still you can be anonymous to certain level but it doesn't mean you can do that in the real life too. For example, you can be an average computer technician in a company but on internet, you can be a part of something huge (Yes, Mr.Robot). Indeed all forms of biometric data collection is a digital ID, but this form of Digital ID proposed by Starmer is exclusively ridiculous, they want every of the IDs assigned to an identifier which would be linked to a credential or access key that'll be on your phone. They're giving cyber criminals an easy to do job, one breach and all of your details and sweat are all gone. It's a typical example of a smart city project, to police on people's data without their consent, just like what happens in Los Angeles, private establishments that host these data sell it out to ICE to hunt down people. The government want everyone and every step we make under their watch, which isn't meaningful considering how devious these officials and private institutions are to people's important documents. sourceThis pdf did a good detailing of what the government are up to with this policy.

New World you mean is the digital era we've advanced where the governments has also migrated surveillance with the new technologies? Either way, bitcoin foremost was invented to highily mask users privacies with it decentralized concept. So if bitcoin can acquire all the valuable potentials still and keep users data's off track from those authorities we're not comfortable about with their restrictive policies and the bullies on deciding our likes and dislikes at all costs, why don't we embrace it? The governments who has always been passionate and so dedicated to keep every essence on track and taking users records has as much maneuvered to keep bitcoin users records through the infrastructural concept of biding centralized system to the bitcoin decentlization. So it's also good to let know that not every bitcoin users will keep privacies private due to the crypto-fiat-bridge. So even when you don't want to give your documents, they'll always find means to get it. Let's embrace decentlized technology.

Well, since you haven't participated in the forum for a while, I'll let you know that there are a few troglodytes who are against any use of AI in the forum. If you use it to translate directly from your native language, make sure it doesn't appear as AI-generated in the detectors. Regarding digital IDs, I must point out that they aren't coming. They are only implemented where the communist lovers are in power, like in the UK, which is where the OP seems to live, and whose president is a fucking totalitarian who pretends to be nice.
