Hateful Remarks Against Nigeria by Forum User Satofan44

I don’t usually make posts like this, but I can’t turn my head the other way when repeated hateful remarks is directed at an entire country, my country. It is fine to disagree with users on the forum for whatever reason, but making sweeping, derogatory comments about a whole nation is a total no-no. I find these statements deeply offensive and contrary to the values that this forum is built on. The user Satofan44 has made several of such remarks in their recent posts and I believe it should not be ignored. I call members of the forum and moderators to note this.

How should the forum address repeated behavior like this to ensure respectful discussion for everyone?

Facts do not care about emotions. There is nothing hateful here. The most common and worst account farming and spamming that I have seen since I have been here lead me back to the Nigerian board. That makes my post factually correct. Perhaps it was another local board that was the bigger culprit in the past. If individual examples of your people were actually better behaved you would be scrutinizing these farms yourself, instead other users from the same boards encourage or at the very least ignore their existence on purpose. In any case that makes the others complicit.

Well, as far as the user side is considered I think 2 real entries are better than 100 entries where many are fake. In terms of checking things, I think you could ask some reputable forum members or other merit sources for help in evaluating the entries. I am sure that plenty of them would help you?

People here insult Trump and America all the time. Users from other countries (not necessarily but possibly Nigerians as well) call him a corrupt president and they sometimes say denigrate things about the electorate too. Why should I not be allowed to return the courtesy? What makes Nigeria special? Why should I not be allowed to insult a whole nation or its people if others do the same to mine? In any case if it is not against the rules (which it does not seem to be at least from what I can read about our great USA), then there is nothing that you can do about it at least nothing that isn't against some rules. I believe that is why they added this button called Ignore, isn't it?

Anyway, from what I can observe there is not a single Nigerian that is really interested in combating the corrupt activities of your fellow countrymen within your local board or in the wider space of the forum. He is insulting others with hate speech but no bodily harm threats or death threats. Go check the Politics & Society board to see how many users insulting others including whole nations. This is the tariff to be paid to enjoy the freedom of speech. This is a free public forum where you can't control what people may think about.

This user called Satofan44 is undoubtedly going through a psychological crisis that makes him target everyone and waste his time looking for someone to address with hostile language. I would advice anybody seeking to curb with non sense posts to add him to his ignore list because there are no needs to create a full topic talking about how he thinks or how he uses forum features.

Imagine that he left me a negative feedback just because I unintentionally made a typo which was obvious based on the context and I explained it to him. dude I don't belong to any private group, talk more of belonging to a private group that engage in account farming. And if you really understand me and how I operate in this forum you will notice that I always mind my business, because I don't like troubles, but surely troubles will come, and when they come I always avoid them. my friend I can't deal with you on this one, because I hardly have time to look into another person's account to know how he or she is behaving, wether if it is a farm account or not a account,  and beside we have DT members who are good in dictating farm accounts so I will suggest we leave that work for them, and secondly the users you're asking me to provide I don't know them, because all I do in this forum is to contribute to the best of my knowledge, keep to forum rules, mind my business and also to stay away to from anything that will cause me troubles my friend.

I've seen these discussions long before you joined, and the longer I'm here, the more I appreciate theymos' stance on the subject: freedom of speech above censorship.

I'm pretty sure there are already texts that you don't like embedded in the Bitcoin blockchain. It's okay. You don't have to read it. Why would you even bother to read things on a website if it insults you?

For me, the best way to increase society's resistance to insulting or offensive speech is to allow a lot more of it. As with childhood diseases, you can better resist those germs to which you have been exposed. We need to build our immunity to taking offence, so that we can deal with the issues that perfectly justified criticism can raise. Our priority should be to deal with the message, not the messenger.
