So I’m curious, how do you guys take advantage of that in your betting? Do you wait for live odds to swing and take the underdog when the favorite starts to cool off? Or do you just ride the momentum while it’s hot?

I do live betting but honestly it’s not profitable for me. I've not really engaged in basketball game that much but I can say that it is much delicate in the sense that anything can happen within a few seconds time interval. You could think a team is underperforming but don't be surprised that they could just turn out to be the winner. The game I just such that you can't predict that easily as the runs could be a terminating one for anyone at anytime when the game is still live.

If i'm familiar with the favorite having a habit of starting slow, then i'd wait until they fall behind and grab those odds once they're close to -110.

In fact, if a team is underperforming a bettor could hypothetically benefit from the odds because sooner or later there should be a regression to the mean and, as the OP said, it is a game of runs, so it can happen all of a sudden and completely change the game.

I don't think it is a safe strategy, though, but it's definitely a fun and exciting move while watching your favourite team.

Precisely because of this peculiarity in basketball, that points run fast I no longer bet, in the past I have made several bets.

Actually I am not a fan of basketball but I must say that betting on live odd or live matches could reduces your odds, just as what I do experience with football, if there are to be game tomorrow and you made your analysis today and place your bet, you have a better chance to have higher odds on your games than when those matches has kicked starts.
I have been trying so hard to understand how those odds are being calculated in basketball as I haven't place bet before on it since I don't understand it that much.

Well in my opinion you need to understand a game and get to know a couple of teams and how good they are or what their frequent strategy is before you actually venture placing bets in that niche else you would just be guessing and there is a high chance that you would eventually lost it all.

Except you are used to it , playing live games in situations like that is actually very risky if you don't understand the teams opposing each other so a better option could be normal win loss or draw bets.

and indeed an opportunity that cannot be applied in the second half because the performance will be different.

Yes, it's true that basketball is a game of run and likewise momentum of each players. But one thing certain is that a good player or team will always remain good either on both pre-match or live match. Which is why knowing the individual strength of each player or team is always very important for the success of basketball betting. Because when a strong team plays game with a lesser stronger team, even if the less stronger team starts winning from the start of the game, the stronger team will always eventually wins. And likewise when two strong teams are playing. Hence, for you to be successful in gambling on basketball, you just have to be very conversant with knowing strong teams and always play your bet on team. Or the second strategy, to study the live odds and always take advantage when their a slight changes.
