What is your motivation to keep holding your crypto assets?

This Uptober has been quite dull. Some investors have even dubbed it Octobear or Rektober, anticipating a gloomy Q4 with a Nullvember and Dumpcember. The BTC price remains stable above 110K USD, but unfortunately, many altcoins have dropped sharply, and altseason seems to be a long way off.

Right now, if investors believe the market has peaked with the BTC price at $126K USD, they might sell off their crypto assets to wait for a chance to buy back more tokens in the next crypto winter. Conversely, if they still have faith in the uptrend continuing into Q4, they might keep holding or even seize the opportunity to buy more potential tokens like ETH, XRP, SOL, AVAX... I do not know which approach is the correct one. Only time and the upcoming volatility of the crypto market can give us the precise answer.

I personally have taken profit on 60% of the BTC in my account to recover my capital and secure a small profit. The remaining 40% of BTC and my altcoins will serve as my supplementary profit this season. This allows me to maintain a comfortable mindset when witnessing a 10 to 20% drop in altcoins. On the other hand, many investors who went all-in on a few altcoins are now enduring temporary losses. Worse yet, some traders in the Futures market lost all their capital in the Black Swan event on October 10th.

I am genuinely curious about the motivation for many other investors to continue holding their crypto assets. Perhaps they have a long-term investment strategy spanning multiple seasons, or they have already secured profits like me, or they are willing to keep enduring temporary losses for a greater profit during altseason. Everyone will have their own reason to continue holding to death.

I measure profit only in Bitcoin, specifically in satoshis. 1. I am holding crypto assets (bitcoin)

2. Yes I am in profit and to top that off I think one can actually only be in loss except they sell so there is nothing like a loss from end even if bitcoin is actually dump the only loss I know is on Altcoins.

My motivation to keep holding bitcoin instead of selling off is simply because selling and moving to fiat money again is considered a bigger risk than when bitcoin is dumping, this is because I see fiat currency as a devaluing currency while bitcoin as a store of value. Some convert to stable coins but as long as they are pegged to the fiat currency they look same to me. This is my conviction

Not a financial idea but I will rather sell off my Altcoins and probably keep more of my bitcoin than selling half of my bitcoin and leaving off Altcoins. My reason is some Altcoins can go from here to zero or loss and since I don’t which is which I will rather hold my bitcoin which I definitely have conviction on

First, let's clarify the concepts.

What most people do - storing bitcoin for the sake of increasing its price and selling it at a profit - is an incentive.

I assume that the incentive (material benefit) for holders to continue holding bitcoin is the desire (and opportunity) to earn greater profits than they currently enjoy. This is reasonable from the point of view of profit, because instead of getting the N-amount, after holding for some time, you can get x2 or more (in the case of BTC, this now requires more time).

I think now is a good time to sell off some of bitcoins, because the "holiday at the crypto market", as we have seen more than once, will not last forever. It's just that during the crypto-winter the profit received will be lower than it is now.

Losses don't occur when bitcoin falls and continue to hold bitcoin. They occur when sell bitcoin at a price lower than purchase price. Continuing to hold bitcoin during a falling market definitely doesn't mean losses, because the market will recover in the future, and portfolio will transition to profit mode.

Only "faith" in future growth keeps one from exiting the market (as well as common sense, which allows one to analyze market developments - countries and institutional investors invest in the cryptocurrency market).

I am motivated because Bitcoin is one of the few remaining assets that are actually worth something.  What do I hold other wise?  Fiat?  Bonds?  The system is WAY too corrupt and evil to put my Trust in it.  I do not want any Third Party to ask me where my funds came from or to even seize my Money.  It offers a protection no other Asset can.

It is October and not Uptober or October, Rektober. It is November not Nulvember or Dumpcember.
Crypto-currency is volatile and not a plant that has months where it blooms and months where is doesn't. Although history may say that October is usually a good month but that is not a fixed logic and if you l do your crypto-currency investment by months they say will do well you will be hit with the shock of your life.

For me do your research and find that coin you can trust, for me it is Bitcoin and I constantly accumulate it and I am not influenced by term social media gives me to th calendar months.

I don't think anyone wants to keep Bitcoin till death except they intend to transfer it to their dependents. Besides making a profit, some people keep Bitcoin for privacy.

 I still keep some amount of Bitcoin. I have more than a four-year plan, so the reduction in price has no effect on my holdings. My motivation is simply that the Bitcoin price will keep rising.

My motivation lies solely in Bitcoin, and I've invested most of my money there. Yes, I have holdings in other coins, but not many, and those are only for the short term. I must admit that most of my profits came from Bitcoin when I first started investing, and I'm currently rebuilding with the target of the next two halvings because I want to hold on for longer. If we understand Bitcoin characteristics and its long-term goals, we won't actually experience any losses.

Does it matters if it is uptober or dumptober or beartober or whatever name that might suit your narrative about the drop in the price of bitcoin. Bitcoin is not stable, it can never be because of its volatility so if you see the price hovering within a certain price, it might just be some resistance around that price and not necessarily that it is stable. There is no such thing as alt season anymore, it is faded, do not be deceived to invest in any altcoin with the hope that an alt season is approaching, it may never come. However, i know that many investors are having doubt if the price of bitcoin can still skyrocket again before the year ends but should when the price will skyrocket again be our concern? If you are holding, keep holding and don't be moved by short term market sentiments because they won't last for a long time.

This is pointless. You are most likely either to spend your money on things that you don't need, lose it in other ventures or let it deflate its value. You are either here till the end or you are just a temporary passenger who won't accomplish anything.

The blame lies entirely with the people and not with the Black Swan. Simply do not use futures. Without leverage you can ignore all these events.

Profit should not measured in terms of fiat. If you are looking at it from a purely fiat perspective you are here for superficial reasons and you are probably doing it wrong. Very few people consider the value of their fiat and how it differs between the years, they just look at absolute numbers. If you invested $1000 into something 10 years ago, and today you sell it for $1600 you did not realize a 60% profit. It may look that way on the surface because you do not consider the value of money, you are just comparing the units where 1600 is 60% bigger than 1000. Considering real world data and not the corrupt government inflation data, you have actually suffered a loss. Think about that.

The goal is to escape the fiat system, not go back into it with a bigger number.

Right, only Bitcoin is real. crypto means Altcoin/shitcoin. If you invest in these, the loss is more than the profit. I do not get any kind of motivation to invest in them. Investing in Bitcoin alone is a real and safe investment. I will not say that investing in Bitcoin is completely safe because no investment is safe. Investment means risk. However, investing in Bitcoin gives very good profits in the long term, I have seen this for a long time. So I do not have to get motivation from any source to invest in Bitcoin. I believe in Bitcoin, I believe in the validity of Bitcoin, this is a very big motivation.

Joking aside, nowadays, if you don't live in pure consumism and you have enough resources (like a countryside or an house efficacy energetic) you are already avoiding to spending many of your assets.  If I look deeply on advantage linked to hodl, I don't see any reason for not do that.

I don’t think mine is motivation, but more of discipline. If it was just motivation, I likely would have lost motivation a long time ago especially recently with the dip in value and the unstable price, but discipline has helped me to hodl still regardless of market conditions because I am optimistic of the future.

I feel many persons still hodling may feel it is motivation that is keeping them, but it is not, rather it is more of discipline.

Discipline outlives motivation, that is why some persons who have sold off their crypto assets particularly bitcoins where not disciplined, only motivated and then at some point lost their motivation.

If you have developed the confidence that Bitcoin price will go up with time then current dip won't disturb you. We already saw Bitcoin rising to it's new ATH in start of this month and then we saw one of biggest crypto crash. I have set a target of 200k and will sell some of my HODLings at that price. I know Bitcoin will be there one day and that's why recent crypto crash didn't have any impact on me.

Moving forward, Bitcoin price is steadily moving up and is now at 113k$. Bitcoin price will sooner or later recover, make sure you don't sell your Bitcoins at discounted rate.

One of main reason by still holding crypto asset espcially BTC is to hedging against the inflation. I see the price increase as my bonus by being a diamond hand, but my motivation is to save my value, and to make sure it won't lose its buying power. So that's the only reason why i keep hold my asset. 

The inflation just went so crazy, and i must think how to save my value.
