This account was activated today and there is no information on this account's profile. Everything has been removed. op Did you get your account back? Previously, a hacker was trying to use your account.

According to BPIP information, this account was not recovered manually by the recovery team. And the password was not reset through email either. So it is suspected that the op did not get the account back since he gave the details here that the hacker even changed the email of his account. So if the account is really hacked, then if the op cannot recover the account through the recovery team, he has no chance of getting access to this account. So it can be said that the hacker is now using the account and he became active today.

Therefore, the account should be kept with the DT tag until the real owner gains access to the account.

Good catch. Your comment is completely correct. But op has not been active here for 3 days so it is not yet completely sure whether op has got his account back or not. If he is active then the matter will be cleared.

This is a good decision since the real owner of the account cannot yet be reliably identified and there is an allegation that the account has been hacked, so the account may be placed with a tag that will be removed once the issue is resolved.

Hi there! No I haven't gained access to that account yet. It's the hacker for sure. I am still waiting for the recovery team to help me with this issue.  Sad

If you have the valid information that you are the real owner and your account has been hacked then you can definitely recover your account asap. keep connection with recovery team.

Since OP hasn't provided any proof that they are they are the real owner of the account, I don't agree with tagging it.
The only information we have now is that the account password was changed on August 19. Nothing more.

If OP's claims are true, then indeed he has not yet regained access to the account. (there would be some recovery details in the seclog)
What we don't know is as to why OP did not lock his account on, realizing that it had gotten hacked and the email address changed. That way, the hacker would not have been able to even log in again.

I have just shared some proof with the recovery team, claiming the ownership of the account.

Here's a comment I made back in 2024: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5520746.msg64795925#msg64795925

Here's my website link: https://cryptopia.in/

I still own the website so I can make changes to it whatever the recovery team asks from me.

I hope it will be good enough and I can finally get my account back.  Smiley

Congrats and welcome back.

It's your account and only you can secure it, and it's your responsibility to secure your account. If you rely on the others for securing your account, your account will be hacked again. Many steps to do for securing your account: hide your email from the public, use a strong password, set up 2FA, use a secure email address (if you use a non-existing email, see the advice from theymos).

There are some advice for account security.
Forum account: security, privacy, and recovery.
Protecting Your Account.
[GUIDE] How to Create a Strong/Secure Password.
Password Spray Attack vs Brute Force Attack.
Are your passwords in the green?
PSA: ACCOUNTS WILL BE LOCKED IF THE SECRET QUESTION IS USED TO RECOVER IT.

If you use the forgotten-password function, then there's an option to remove the 2FA. So 2FA does not provide any protection in case of a compromised email. Make sure that your email address is secure. If you don't want to set an email address, use something like yourUserName@invalid.bitcointalk.org; don't use a random nonsense email like y@x.com, since somebody might create that domain/email.

Congrats!

You should follow what UchihaSarada suggested and check the threads he shared, it could help you prevent experiencing the same issue again.

Also, just curious, do you have any idea how your account got hacked? If you like clicking suspicious links or downloading suspicious things, you might want to stop that, a lot of accounts get their accounts compromised through that.

Some of the threads listed by UchihaSarada are old and haven't been updated e.g. that 2FA is an account securing option for this forum. This doesn't mean, they are bad references. A lot of security recommendations are timeless.

Your main pilars of securing your forum account are
  • a safe and well protected email account which you preferably don't use for everyday stuff, limit its use only for setup of other accounts, meaning don't expose it too much to the evil internet public. This email account should've a strong random password and 2FA protection, have written backups on paper, no digital backups on devices that potentially can be compromised. I wouldn't use this email account on a mobile phone!
  • a safe and strong forum account password, use a decent password manager, preferably no unprotected digital backups (plain text files or spreadsheets) of your passwords; humans tend to create or re-use not-so-strong passwords when they've no clue about password security.
  • setup 2FA for your forum account, but as theymos said, it only adds security if your email address used for your forum account remains safe and unbroken (see above).
  • learn more about computer security and don't be reckless with it.
  • if you have doubts about the security of the device on which you login to your forum account, don't expose your login credentials on that device.
  • stake a Bitcoin address and/or a GPG key properly in this forum, if you haven't done so already, so you can always properly prove ownership of your forum account for hopefully never necessary recovery.
  • this list is not exhaustive, I might have missed something; use your brain, if it's not already washed-out by today's (a)social media, tik-tok, snapchat and other infinite scrolling shit.
