Is Bitcoin a crypto?


There seem to be some Bitcoin maxis saying Bitcoin is not a crypto but what my own search engine shows me is that Bitcoin had everything and every reasons to be called a cryptocurrency because that's what it is.

So why are people saying Bitcoin is not crypto? To make it look different from alternative digital currencies? We already know that, and yes every other coins are shit coins, I fully accept this but what I can't stand is saying bitcoin isn't a crypto.

Bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency. unless the person who says it's not crypto has another definition for it. What I know as cryptocurrency is what Bitcoin. Exactly Bitcoin stands for. The thing which some people get wrong is classifying bitcoin as token when there is different between a coin and a token.

Well cryptocurrency word came from the technology Cryptography . It is basically a secured encrypted communication system which isn't basically traceable. As satoshi himself mentioned this on Bitcoin white paper that it is a peer to peer cash system and  perticipants would be anonymous since then the idea of crypto currency has inventend.

You’re validating my opinion of course, bitcoin is crypto but the mere fact bitcoin is the root to which every other crypto came into existence and the fact that altcoins seems to have some kind of stereotype because of it’s associated of pump and dump scheme which bitcoin is not people tend to be overly exaggerating this and hence seem to find a way to separate bitcoin from them but crypto is now more or less referred as shitcoins whether you agree or not.

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency. The reason why some maxis do not associate it as a ‘cryptocurrency’ is because cryptocurrency is too broad a term, as it already includes altcoins, memecoins, etc., so it seems more appropriate to place it in a category of its own, because Bitcoin has different values and characteristics compared to other cryptocurrencies, and placing it on the same level as the others other cryptocurrencies would be an insult to Bitcoin itself.

Well the fact is pump and dump isn't really directly tied to the altcoin group per say (in quotes though). Memecoins and shit coins are like a group you can tag along under altcoins based on the fact that they are not bitcoin. Memecoins are more manipulative than most altcoins because of how liquidity is distributed across in a biased manner.

The definition of cryptocurrencies from the Mariam Webster dictionary says;

any form of currency that only exists digitally, that usually has no central issuing or regulating authority but instead uses a decentralized system to record transactions and manage the issuance of new units, and that relies on cryptography to prevent counterfeiting and fraudulent transactions

If I stick with this then infact bitcoin and a couple privacy coins are the only crypto currency lol..

One of the reasons why Bitcoin is not a cryptocurrency is because before and after Bitcoin was created, there was nothing like cryptocurrency. When Bitcoin was created, it was referred to as a digital currency; cryptocurrency came into existence when altcoins started existing. People like Dorsey are fighting the bad name that altcoins attach to bitcoin. Most of the scams, rugpulls, hacks and worthless coins were made in the crypto space. Bitcoin is not a part of that.

IMO yes, it is a cryptocurrency, but since people started making fake cryptos, there were more and more scam victims and people hating cryptocurrencies that it was time to separate bitcoin from that other pile of trash. I bet you've heard how some old folks refer to the crypto space as a scam, so it's time someone told them that bitcoin was never a scam and there are no people scammed by the bitcoin protocol.

All the scam coins are altcoins, but boomers don't even know what altcoins are. This word is not used often, but the world crypto is. You could even see Democrats like Senator Warren talk about "crypto" being a scam, but she doesn't see the difference between bitcoin and crypto, or purposely doesn't want to.

If we look at the purpose and aim at which altcoins were created and are still being created to be called crypto, Bitcoin didn't have such structure but superior to all, Satishi didn't introduce or explained Bitcoin as a crypto but he called it an electronic cash system. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, it’s a digital currency that will only be operated through online transactions. But on the other hand, bitcoin is not called as crypto because all of the digital currencies in the market belong to the cryptocurrency world, even with bitcoin. Bitcoin is just a part of the whole crypto system. So when someone mention crypto, it directly leads to the market or to the whole system itself. But if someone mentioned bitcoin, it only refers to a single crypto which is bitcoin.
