It seems the world is crumbling and can't keep up with the rise in inflation.
Not versed in how Russia economy is runned but from little information I have about other countries
Especially the US, uncertainty and economy instability ois already creeping in
Hence why the Gold Rush few weeks ago. People are searching for safe haven.

22% for tax is no joke at all that’s really huge in terms of its effect on the country’s inflation. And in these crises that the country is going through, their business sectors will truly consider
Gold as a safe haven way for the country to survive.

In such crisis incidents, this is where Gold becomes beneficial even Bitcoin as digital gold. They should have thought of this a long time ago; they prioritize those things
even though it will really affect the country’s economy.

Good point to describe one of the most important reason of the war against Ukraine. Rusia pretend to protect its neiboring borders from NATO presence, and this was the main reason to annex Crimea. While the war itself has proven that the main reason is to annex more regions. Why? Because Russia need more ressources to reduce relying on gaz and oil mainly. The last agreement between Putin and Trump was about dividing Ukraine resources; Putin will take all the ocuppied regions inside Ukraine, while Trump will take metal resources.
Life in more and more regions has become incredibly poor. In Donetsk, people even have problems with water. Why? Russia has no interest in improving people's lives. This entire adventure was launched for one purpose only: the plunder of territories. Which, frankly speaking, is quite obvious. It will only get worse.

And what have Russian citizens gained from all this? Absolutely nothing. The authorities have gone mad with greed. There are no more easily extractable resources left in the entire country. That's why they've invaded a foreign country.
This was clearly evident from the early bigenning after invading Cremea. Now the citizens in Donetsk and other regions officially ocuppied by Russia are might be forced to live outside those regions because Russia wants the land, so it won't be that really interested to provide life services.

Ukraine was the basket of Europe but now it bacome the basket of Russia after extracting the major regions to become under Russian control. If Russia will succeed to annex those regions officially, Europe will let her down and might get peace agreement with Russia to avoid it invade more countries. Poland next in the list.

History already remembers a case when the world decided to play along with appeasing an aggressor. Many harbor the illusion that if you appease an aggressor, he will stop his terror. NO! He will just get a taste for BLOOD and IMPUNITY. And it won't be possible to buy Ukraine off... Just remember one fact: agreements are meaningless to Russia! And also that Russia only understands force and a tough response.
No one is saying that, for example, the countries that guaranteed Ukraine's security by signing the Budapest Memorandum should declare war on Russia. No. But they must make an effort to fulfill their obligations - to provide financial and military assistance to a country that is now an outpost protecting Europe from a new brown plague.

And putting pressure on the economy of the aggressor country is a very effective way to end it and restore justice. Yes, Russia is a huge country, but it has an inefficient economy and backward technology. The USSR was a perfect example of how to solve the problem—even though it was much more powerful than today's Russia, it collapsed because of economic problems.

The most astonishing thing is that the authorities are perfectly aware of the current situation. It's amusing that in today's technologically advanced world, they manage to put a brave face on a bad situation. It's a total lie, which is immediately verified and refuted. Do they understand this? Yes, but all this is for those who are incompetent. Why did I put it that way? Is it really possible to lie constantly in the current reality? It turns out that this is normal practice. Especially since they are exposing themselves. It feels like watching a local circus, where the clowns are recruited from the local pubs.

And what will happen next? Indeed, the country's financial collapse will follow. And this is already a near-term prospect, not a distant future.

Conclusion: let's look at the world through the eyes of a realist, not a fantasist Smiley

Am I the fantasist or are you the fantasist? Like when the war between Russia and Ukraine started. The West and its media have been constantly indoctrinating the people that the Russian economy will soon collapse, their arsenals are running out and they cannot sustain the war for more than 3 months. But the war has lasted almost 4 years but luckily it is about to end (which is great because the people of both countries will be liberated).

But those who have been spreading the message that Russia will collapse must be very disappointed because the war is about to end but will tend to favor Russia more. And the bitter truth is that the one they trust the most, the US, tends to support and wants to end the war in a way that is favorable to Russia.

Be realistic and see the world with your eyes instead of closing your eyes and imagining.

While I agree on the Russian front, I do not agree on the western one. The benefits of being not from China/Russia communist part of the world, and not being from the west (Europe and USA mostly) world, is the ability to look at this from outside and realize that both sides are quite wrong.

Ukraine was wrong and Russia was wrong, and west was wrong, they are all wrong. Did it help anyone? You think Russia is doing fine? I can tell you from just stats alone that Russia is not doing fine, all they can do right now is try to keep the small places they want, and even doing that is costing them shit ton of money and people. Ukraine won't get better neither, and west is wrong about getting closer too. So it's all wrong, one side isn't right, they are both wrong.

The Soviet Union collapsed due to internal crises, most notably the division between reformists who wanted to normalize relations with the west camp and conservatives who wanted to keep living in communism era. There is no resemblance between Russia today and the URSS in the 1980s. Even after the dissolution of the URSS and the independence of the old Soviet republics, many of them remain under the Russian umbrella and cannot break free.

Back to Europe, do you see that military and strategic support to Ukraine solved the problem or realize any goals against the Russian invasion? How long the European economic can support Ukraine? Europe is already facing economic crises and apply sanctions to Russia is rising more economic problems to it.

I'm sorry, but I find it very funny when people who were not born in the USSR and did not witness its real history firsthand tell me fairy tales that have been promoted as narrative in a new era, especially people who did not live in the USSR.

So, let me reiterate: the reason for the collapse of the USSR was not the reformers (according to the doctrine of modern Russia, “Gorbachev and the US are to blame for everything”  Grin  ), but rather the complete degradation of the economy! The degradation was such that the so-called (as the USSR positioned itself) “second pole of the world, 40% of the world's natural resources, the largest economy and the best science, ...” simply could not provide food and basic necessities to its hungry population! Incidentally, it was then, in the 1990s, that the US supplied hundreds of tons of food to the USSR as humanitarian aid to save it from a hunger riot.
I can tell you what grocery stores looked like in Kiev, for example, in the late 1980s, when there were no reformers yet. And this is the capital of one of the republics of the USSR, not the outskirts. It would look like a scene from a post-apocalyptic movie, which is hard to believe, but empty shelves were a fact!

And today's Russia is repeating exactly the same path—militarization, isolation from the rest of the world, building ties with outcasts and terrorists, terrorist wars in neighboring regions, totalitarianism and usurpation of power, convulsive trade in natural resources... The truth is that Russia has “surpassed” the USSR by becoming a resource appendage of China and India Smiley

In our eyes, they were completely wrong to let the war happen and drag on for so long. But I believe that politically, every war that happens has a reason and purpose behind it.

Perhaps Russia, the EU and Ukraine were wrong because they all thought the war could have ended sooner and they would not have suffered so much damage. But now they are facing a situation much worse than they ever imagined.

However, there is still one country that is not directly involved in the war but has the loudest voice and is also the country that benefits the most. So, from a political perspective and if you stand in the position of the country that benefits the most, this war is not wrong. War is what they want because it is a way to contain their opponents and make their allies more dependent on them. Ukraine is perhaps the unluckiest country to be chosen as a scapegoat.

The Soviet Union collapsed due to internal crises, most notably the division between reformists who wanted to normalize relations with the west camp and conservatives who wanted to keep living in communism era. There is no resemblance between Russia today and the URSS in the 1980s. War is what they want because it is a way to contain their opponents and make their allies more dependent on them. Ukraine is perhaps the unluckiest country to be chosen as a scapegoat.
To be fair, Russia is the only nation that is keeping this going, the war is on Ukraine's soil, it's on their land, it's the Russians that attacked, good reason or bad reason that doesn't matter, but they did the attacking. So the only one who can stop it are the Russians, stop trying to take another nations land and you will be fine.

I think they should be made an example by ruining their economy as bad as it could, whatever the west is doing right now, they should do even more, and they should force others to cut ties with Russia and even put incredible bans on nations that continue to work with Russia, should be more like "it's us or Russia", no because I have anything against Russia, in fact, I do love Russian people, met 3 of them in a vacation once and they were the nicest people I have ever met, lovely people.

The reason would be to end wars, which means, when USA fights Iraq type of thing again, then all world should stop trading with USA, if UK attacks anywhere, stop trading with UK, the world needs to stop trading with any nation that starts wars, simple as that.

Very telling news:
"Rosneft's net profit for January-September plummeted 70% to $3.57 billion,
according to the company's report. Revenue fell by 17.8% to 6.28 trillion rubles, while capital expenditures rose by 6% to 1.11 trillion rubles.
The company said that the results were affected by the Central Bank's high key rate, cheaper oil, and a stronger ruble, which caused export revenue in rubles to decline. Rosneft also reported an increase in spending on “anti-terrorism security” without disclosing what this entails.
And this is the industry that is the main source of budget revenue!

To me it is pretty obvious the Kremlin is willing to sacrifice any branch of the economy in order to keep the military going and perpetuate the war against Ukraine.
Inflation in Russia is devastating, important companies and brands fled the country and now India won't continue to get cheap Russian oil to boost the bank accounts of the Russia state.
Though, given the reach of the war and the percentage of war Russia has managed to take from Ukraine, it is likely Russia will keep a percentage of their conquered land as part of whatever peace deals are being discussed in secret.

Ideally, this war would be the end of the regime of Putin, but it seems it will not.

You are certainly more accurate than me since you witnessed the event firsthand, unlike me who gathers information from various sources including adversary propaganda that seeks to distort its enemy. However, this doesn't preclude approaching the topic from different angles and based on various resources. A religious figure who lived in the URSS at that time could convince you and many others that the URSS collapsed because society neglected religion and the government failed to protect places of worship.
I am not saying that there weren't economical problems in the URSS, but the way to treat those problems wasn't an agreement between politicians. The prostroika wasn't acceptable by the majority of conservatives afaik. Thank you for the detailed information anyway.

It's very nice to see an adequate response to information that doesn't quite match your opinion! This is not typical of most people! Thank you for your response.

In fact, there is always an explanation for any situation. The only question is how well it corresponds to all the nuances and facts. I can also talk about religion in the USSR Smiley
Since the creation of the USSR, the church has been separated from the state. That is, the state did not influence it, did not restrict its existence, did not persecute its followers. Sounds good, right? But “the devil is in the details”!
At the very beginning of the USSR, the church was persecuted, churches, temples, icons, and scriptures were destroyed... Icons and church books were burned at the stake, as in the days of the Inquisition. In the 1930s, during the formation of the USSR, realizing that persecution was not working, the Kremlin authorities remembered the saying, “If you can't beat them, join them!” The solution was “simple” — the heads of churches and monasteries were gathered, and they were made “an offer they couldn't refuse” (c) The Godfather.
The offer was this: either you cooperate with the authorities in manipulating parishioners, including searching for and identifying those dissatisfied with the government, or we will destroy you. Some accepted the offer... Some were destroyed. The part that accepted the offer is today's Russian Orthodox Church.

PS If this sounds like my inadequate fantasy, you can easily find open archives with this “process” and familiarize yourself with the real facts.

I didn't mean by providing the religious man example to claim that it's the truth. What I wanted to say is that every person has his own narrative of events based on his location and ediology. An economist can give an answer and the artist can give another answer for the same fact. Ask the west and they will tell you that URSS collapsed because citizens were looking for more freedoms like in the west. I also have my narrative based on the sources i had. Always it's not accurate that you are surely right because you lived in the region and that I am surely wrong because I didn't live there.

PS Thanks for your response. This will be my last reply in this topic.

Quote
When a warring state is unable to even maintain its own armed forces, it's not just a crisis—it's a financial collapse. To avoid becoming a permanent colony of China, Russia has only one option: end the war and save the economy. Which path will Russia choose, given that ending the war in Ukraine is mortally dangerous for both Putin himself and his regime as a whole?

Why ending the war in Ukraine would be dangerous for Putin? Ending the war would lead to the removal of all western sanctions over Russia.
This means that Russia will start making business with the western world, which will boost the economy. Restoring all trading and making business with the western world would help in stopping the process of Russia becoming a Chinese colony.
The Russian industrial military complex production output would decline, but the other industries would grow and compensate that decline.
The high interest rate imposed by the Russian central bank will be lowered, which would also boost the economy.

War definitely affected Russia very negatively but that's paid by every city and town except Moscow. I have a few relatives who live in Moscow and as they say, life is still good there. Everyone that I know tells me that life is only good in Moscow, the rest of Russia is in terrible conditions. I called one of my relatives online today, and he told me that there are many jobs available in Moscow, where you can earn a good salary working as a delivery person, a bus driver, or a truck driver (he is a professional truck driver). He was recently in Europe too but he moved to Russia because it has recently become hard to get a work visa in Europe.
Basically, Russia focuses only on one city and the population of this city, called Moscow, doesn't feel the effect of the war but the rest of Russia is significantly affected.

The war will not end Putin's regime. Putin has roots too deep in Russia, to the point where he is almost invincible.

Even countries not directly involved in the war (the EU) and using Ukraine as a pawn are suffering serious negative consequences. Meanwhile, Russia was one of the countries directly involved in the war, so it's not surprising that its economy was affected.

The truth is that the Russian economy is struggling, but the problem is that the situation isn't as bad as the Western press portrays it. As of December 2025, the Russian economy showed signs of slowing down compared to the same period of the previous year, but GDP still maintained positive growth. Their economies remain strong and perform far better than those countries that have to import oil and energy from the United States at prices dozens of times higher. Grin

Believe me, if the war doesn't end soon, we'll soon see many economies collapse even before Russia.

The war started with one simple thing; the UN. Ukraine wanted to join the European pact, and Russia said it would be Europe right on my borders and I do no want that, and the war broke out because of this. However, assuming that Russia takes these lands from Ukraine and THEN Ukraine joins, it would still be Europe on their wall, nothing changes.

If Russia didn't started a war, and only simply just made sure that they can have certain gap between them and UN, then it would have made more sense, and fixed at the table instead of tens of thousands of dead. This is why I believe Russia was the responsible one and it's normal that they get the bad end of the stick, Ukraine and Russia are doing worse than others, others are doing fine.

According to my research, things are not that simple. Have you ever thought about this, if the conflict broke out simply because Ukraine wanted to join nato, why would the US and EU be willing to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on Ukraine to prolong the war? If their support was aimed at helping Ukraine win, why didn't they dare supply heavy weapons, instead providing medium-range weapons? Why did the United States immediately halt aid after reaching an agreement with Ukraine on mineral and rare earth mining? And now, the United States has laid its cards on the table and declare that Ukraine will never have the opportunity to join nato. Worse still, they are asking that Ukraine cede territory to end the war.

Simply put, the United States has achieved its objectives with Russia, and now it's time for the war to end.
