Has anyone heard of IMPT?

They have an app that caters for over 25,000 retailers for online shopping, hotels and flights. They have competitive prices with rewards on their platform.

The idea is that each time you shop with IMPT, you earn IMPT tokens which can be used to offset your carbon footprint by retiring carbon credits accumulated or holding the coin.

They have UN approved green initiatives, from planting trees to renewable energy generation.

They also have a decent following with over 50k downloads on Google playstore. Recent partnerships have been with Meta and Google.

Running on the Google accelerator programme and they're in talks with Tik Tok for advertising.

I think there is a lot of potential with this project to take off, the utility is strong with a need in today's world. The brands onboarded are pretty well known. Thoughts?

Anyway, Why there should be an incentive if there are groups like this that would like to reduce the carbon footprint? They should just ask the other organizations to get them funding for the good cause that they do. Because not everyone is interested in collecting more tokens even if there's a good cause or approved or permitted by UN, etc.

Good point, I guess organisations can only do so much. Politicians change every 5 years.The real change comes from the public. If collectively everyone does their part through the app, the difference will be much more profound than companies or organisations alone. I think the benefit here is that the project does not look to change people's behaviours, as that is almost impossible.

I think that you've got really some good goals and purposes here. But I think that many of the projects have come into the same features as what you've said. Many of us are not aware of this project because it lacks adequate marketing. I don't know what your role is on the project, but if you're part of the marketing team, they have done a poor job hiring you, and the project will remain unknown until they learn how to market their platform.
To think that they have been existing for three years already, some things have to change in how they market their project.

That's great. You can stake your IMPT that you accumulate, hold it or retire a carbon credit once you accumulate enough IMPT. Either way, it is deflationary for the coin.

Not to be offensive, but I think this project lacks strong utility. Today, crypto enthusiasts want to see something revolutionary and new ideas. Since I joined the crypto industry, I think I've seen many similar concepts. At the end, projects with this concept are no longer visible today, meaning their utility isn't actually strong enough to make a price boost. Utility will follow a good product, check out the website/app would love your feedback  . Honestly, I have read about carbon credits before and I think it is an interesting initiative to try to move economies towards green energy usage, but ultimately it won't change or save the world, those tokens or carbon credits are only a tool in a capital society to punish those companies which generate more pollution and "force them" to change towards new processes which cause less harm against environment.

Still, I guess it is cool to have applications and coins which are seeking to reduce environmental damage, but won't be enough to stop the destruction of this planet though.

Hi Hispo, thank you for your view on carbon credits. The industry has had issues with fraud and the double counting of carbon credits, ever since the Kyoto Protocol in 1992.

IMPT will eliminate this through the immutable nature of the blockchain. The idea here is that IMPT is putting some of that responsibility onto the public. A greater impact with carbon credits is if the model can be pivoted from B2B business to business to  B2C - business to consumer. IMPT isn't just focused on B2C however, but also B2B. As of Monday, the IMPT B2B affiliate has launched. As people use IMPT for purchases, retailers that are not partnered with IMPT will be at a competitive disadvantage in relation to their environmental impact.

The carbon credit industry is expected to expand significantly, with the voluntary carbon market projected to grow from around $15.8 billion in 2025 to over $120 billion by 2030 due to corporate net-zero commitments. IMPT fills a gap in the market.
