I have been in this forum trying to understand how to improve the quality of my post, when to make a post or not, how to quote a user's post etc and to be sincere it has been slow but steady improvement from my end. Don't get me wrong, there are alot of resources out here to keep us heads up but sincerely speaking, many times I don't actually know where to start (Its overwhelming at times).

So I created this thread as an avenue for beginners in this forum like myself (newbies, Junior members, members) to share and discuss with their fellow beginners what they have done differently that has made them improve on the quality of their post to help other mates who are still finding it difficult to understand the system. I will also love if established members (full, senior, Hero and legendary) can contribute to this topic ( what works and what does not work).

I know some beginners already know alot about bitcoin but knowing bitcoin alone can not make you cope in this forum, you also have to understand the forum itself, for example, I don't even know the function of snip but I see some established members make use of it, in this case my knowledge of bitcoin can not help me out, I need to figure it out.

I see this initiative as a way to improve post quality and a way beginners can help each others grow quicker, thus the name beginners association of bitcointalk.

For example, I saw a neutral trust on this member and the reason is because he/she does not interact effectively in the topics he/she has started. I feel if he/she new better how to operate around here he/she would have avoided this.

Motivation: Personal development and improvement has been a thing for me, noticing that I have not improved as much as I have expected has lead to the creation this thread and I believe that with contributions from my fellow beginners and established members, we can all benefit from this thread.

In honesty I laughed really had seeing the topic what’s with the association thing mate and you it’s not a gang what do you call something with an association in it.

The thing is newbies would still not read this new thread of yours just like they didn’t read the other threads that was created earlier, this problem isn’t solved by having any thread like this, simply go back to those threads and article and then read

New users often don't bother to read or understand the forum rules at first.

They frequently focus only on merit threads and put a lot of effort into trying to rank up too quickly, even without understanding how the merit system works.

Your post is good, but as the previous user mentioned, it's not necessary. This thread won't gain traction. if a moderator doesn't delete it soon enough, newbies still won't come here to discuss.

I get your point but the difference is that I wouldn't have to be surfing around searching for those thread, I can just read it from a single thread, this would really be more helpful for me.

Its not as though I can't really read but you might not just get all the clue you need from those resources, for example, I might have a topic in mind to create here and I search to see if the topic has already been created but I see no match. You might still post this your topic and another user will send you a link indicating the topic has already been started by another person prior to your post. The resources available here does not answer such question, do they? If they do, please enlighten me.

Function of snip as in 'snip' present at the end of a quote?  I have seen it every now and then but it is not a 'function'.  You only have to add another line to a quote and write 'snip'.  See this example,

Why this desperation to 'help each others grow quicker'.  I see SO many Bitcoin Talk members not being able to 'grow' because the despair is too strong and they are trying too hard.  They open up a hundred Threads hoping it will rain with Merits.  The point of Merits is to reward contributive posts.

Its not as though I can't really read but you might not just get all the clue you need from those resources, for example, I might have a topic in mind to create here and I search to see if the topic has already been created but I see no match. You might still post this your topic and another user will send you a link indicating the topic has already been started by another person prior to your post. The resources available here does not answer such question, do they? If they do, please enlighten me.

If you are running into difficulty searching other Threads then you can always make a Thread asking for others to direct you to the best Threads on the subject you like that they find.  A lot of subjects are repeated every now and then but it becomes an issue and other Members start throwing arrows at you when you repeat the same subject that has been discussed since the existence of Bitcoin.

For example.  'Gold versus Bitcoin' is excessively discussed in my opinion.  Almost every time I log in to my Bitcoin Talk account I run into this subject.

If you can not work the Search function out then you can use the integrated Search function of your browser.  It is usually activated by pressing the keyboard combination CTRL + F.  Then go to a Board like 'Bitcoin Discussion' or 'Beginners & Help' and type the key word of your subject.  In the example above, 'Gold' is the key word.  Type 'Gold'.  If you can not find your key word then go to the second page of the Board.  And so on.

I believe this question should be for merit hunters and I don't encourage merit hunting rather I encourage quality post, that is why I created this thread to learn more and improve on my knowledge and post, if the merit comes forth from my post it will also make me know my post was beneficial to someone and that alone is joy-giving.

There is no secret ingredient to it, actually, as long as you're ready to read. When you read, you learn, and the more you read, you'll see things you don't understand or didn't know about, and that will push you to research those things.
One thing newbies miss is the pinned threads in boards. If they read all the pinned threads in every board before posting in those threads, many of the questions they ask would be answered, especially in this beginners and help board. As long as you have an open and critical mind that is ready to learn, all you have to do is keep an open mind, read and criticise what you read, and learn. It's a discussion forum, meaning you can discuss in any thread as long as you know what the thread is talking about.
Just be your genuine self.

The forum is well explanatory enough, but only that people don't take their time to read or study to know about something they are unfamiliar with, have you experienced an instance whereby you brought in a newbie to the forum, explains all that is needed for him.

Yet you still discover he abuses the privileges and got banned or misbehave around, there is something called personal development, only those that has this kind of orientation or mindset may find here worth staying and giving quality contributions.

What I did when I started was to go close to the person that introduced me to this forum and learn directly from him. Odds that we found this forum on our own is very slim, there's definitely someone who talked to us about the forum in the first place, go to that person and seek proper guidance from that person if you are not understanding the materials available in the forum in areas that you need help.

Sometimes learning from someone with experience is more effective than reading from materials. In my case I always go to his house when he's in town as we lived in the same street, I ask questions were I am confused he will explain to me using practical examples. When he is out of town and I have challenges, I do call him on video calls and share my screen, it wasn't long I was able to get everything I needed to navigate the forum. If you can do the same you will be fine.

Well, the best thing you can do is to keep things simple and not try to chase after merit or be too concerned about your thread generating merit too soon. I think what helps the most ls to work on creating topics that has an higher engagement rate. An higher engagement will necessarily mean that your topic is a valuable one and with that, it gets you noticed and whatever comes out of it is bound to be a good one.

The forum is one place where the best way to grow is by doing and doing things better every time you try anything. Ensure each of your post is only getting better and put in the effort to go through threads that are created by people that have high reputation. By either modelling your post after people that are already doing well, you stand the chance of also improving in your posting and knowledge of bitcoin and the forum in general.

This is not my first time seeing this type of suggestions. I have seen here and also in meta. I wonder why newcomers believe that the forum needs a separate board for schooling newbies. If I may ask, is the B/H board a joke to you? I understand that newcomers reason differently as it affects them. What puzzles me is that during my time as a newbie, I didn't actually suggest for an additional or different board for grooming or schooling newbies, rather I requested that newbies shouldn't be allowed to post beyond the B/H board until they are up to the jr member rank. It seems like a perfect idea to me, but I was made to understand that such a thing existed in the past and theymos abolished it and promised not to return it again. It goes against his the ideology of freedom and also deprives the newbies.

The title of this thread is what dragged me over to this place as a matter of truth i see this thread as a needless discussions since we already have various tools that can aid us in improving our posts quality, when i was a newbie, i was privileged to get early advice from some sincere forum members.

And what the advice me to do to improve the quality of my posts and engage in the best way i can is to make sure that i read more that i write and in most time always engage with every comment that quote me or threads that i started the discussion myself.

Some people discovered this forum by themselves, maybe through a Google search. This set of people doesn't have mentors who will teach them how the forum operates. Observation is very important in learning how this forum works. The problem with many newbies is that they are always in a rush to rank up, which has made them keep posting instead of taking time to listen and observe. Practice makes perfect. As a newbie, I was practising with the forum to learn how to use some functions.

The entire forum is literally your play ground, a space for you to discuss and participate in every discussion so, why limit yourself to just a single thread or an idea of a “BAB” like you’ve termed it. It doesn’t make any sense to me.

I have seen certain beginners on the forum ask questions of limit as per, “if there were places or boards they aren’t required to participate or discussions”. This is absent on the forum with very few exceptions so, why would you sort the need to create one.

It’s freedom out here, enjoy it and not be bounded. A lot of ranked users here where once newbies.

I would think it makes sense to limit newbies not to move out from the B/H board because by such time they are expected to understand certain things about the basics by themselves here instead of trying to ask questions that they can unravel or trying to have an "association". This is not about discriminating or limiting freedom but it is to regulate the system just like there are different rules in the forum. Afterall newbies are not also allowed to post image, so it is not about discriminating or limiting their freedom but about the roles guiding the forum.

As for OP'S question. This thread for creating association for newbies or BAB is not needed. All reading materials for growth are all provided. Learn and ask questions either from your LB or the forum generally.

The first thing a new person should do is to overcome his laziness. When a new person tries to read all the comments, they stop reading because of laziness. You are going through the same situation. There are many places in this forum that you could have learned on your own if you tried, but you did not. First of all, get rid of your laziness and try to read everyone's comments carefully, gain knowledge from them. The more time you read, the more knowledge you will gain and gradually all your mistakes will be overcome. So I would tell you that you should try to read everyone's comments for 2 to 3 hours every day.

It's not really easy for the newbies to go through all the comments of everyone here, and you know that people are of a different way of understanding things,they are people who can understand things when they read it and there's people who after reading it will not really understand the point of what they have read .. just like someone who has a low brain and someone with sharp brain are not the same

And I really want to ask little questions here, please reading the People's comment here and reading about the Bitcoin on a binance academy and other tips related to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency exchanges in general, which one is fast to understand in terms of contributing to this forum? I just want to know which one to spend more time while reading it

For those that are hungry to learn and expand their knowledge to self-develop the forum wouldn't be a difficult place for them to sprout up and acquaint themself with all the dos and don'ts of the forum. Like a library so is the forum, there are many things to learn which transverse beyond just about bitcoin (cryptocurrency) and that's why we have other boards and motherboards for general knowledge which a newbie could always begin learning from there.

When you're intentional to learn, with time you would start contributing to the quality of the forum in your own little way but when you approach the forum like every other social media platforms like the Facebook and Instagram, then it's with only time you would be shown the exit door.

To be honest, if you really want to improve and make quality post in the forum, then do your own diligence to read and understand the different threads posted in the forum. There is no easy way of learning, you really need to spend valuable time on it and you need to focus more especially you're still in the process of learning. Because the point here, if you can do that, then creating a new group or association won't still work for you.

What matters here is your diligence and determination to learn. We all started from newbies, but if there's consistent courage, the goal of leveling up will always be possible. Don't be too pressured learning the forum, just give it a time and don't forget to enjoy learning in the forum as well.
