Switching to this format for the cup wasn't a good move, but the broadcaster hasn't realized that yet. A single-elimination system is best. The winner advances, the loser is eliminated. With a group stage and points system, it feels more like a league than a cup.

i agree with you on this matter. since there are only a few teams in turkey that are even potential champions in the super league, this tournament held extra significance for other teams in the league and lower leagues. i wish it were played solely on an elimination basis until the last 64, so teams from lower leagues could get a chance to play in big matches, but this system is probably better for ratings and money.

we all want to see surprise champions in the turkish cup because it's the only hope for the other teams in the league. also, i think what makes the cup special is the knockout matches.

The cup matches in Turkey are always interesting considering what's at stake, sometimes the cup games are more interesting than derby games due to the fixtures that emerges whenever the games are involved, this week there is a fixture between Alanyaspor and Trabzonspor which is always a fierce battle and also there is also another fixture between Galatasaray and Basaksehir too. it's quite a highly anticipated fixture in the Turkish cup and I expect each of these games to be very tedious for all the team involved.

Damn, that's terrible. I didn't see the game but if it happened like you described, then I know the feeling because Liverpool in the EPL have been in similar situations a couple of times over the years. Idk, but I think it's wrong that the officiating bodies didn't even make use of VAR system despite it being available. Nuri shouldn't let it go easily and should push for either VAR to be scrapped in the tournament or used actively. Maybe if Galatasaray was the team on the receiving end of the unfortunate officiating, maybe it would've made the news.

A very poor performance by Trabzonspor as the home team and having to play against two teams competing in the Turkish Super League. But the opponent faced was a weak team, Alanyaspor, not a strong team like Galatasaray or Fenerbahce. They should have easily won, but instead it ended in defeat. A bad start for Trabzonspor in the 2026 Turkish Cup as they had to suffer a painful loss in their first match at home.

i don't know how i completely forgot this, but tomorrow one of the most important derbies in turkey will be played in the turkish cup. fenerbahçe will host beşiktaş at home, and this match will be one of the most important matches in group c and the group stage of the cup.

the two teams played each other not too long ago, about 50 days ago, and in that match, beşiktaş took a 2-0 lead but ended up losing 3-2 to fenerbahçe. i remember that night feeling like a nightmare. beşiktaş will want revenge, but fenerbahçe looks like the favorite in this match.
