Have you thought of quitting gambling before?

Because many people today have seen gambling as a place to earn and sustain themselves, taking a statistics from my country Nigeria lot of people I mean the young teenagers and even some old men or those who has already retired on their offices do even involves themselves into gambling just to catch some few NGN to add to themselves.

Because they believe what their mind tells them.

It is easy to quit gambling when you actually have that mindset. It becomes difficult to quit, the moment the gambler feels it is difficult. I believe, there is no addiction that cannot be stopped. And gambling can be said to be the easiest form of addiction to stop. So yeah, every gambler trying to quit should work on his/her mindset first before taking the step.

Quitting is quite different from taking a pause but if someone finds himself drowning in addiction and believes the most effective way to curb it is to let go then it's fine. Bad habits develop gradually in gambling when you begin to depend more and more on it for income basically no one makes a gest of their income source and this is the why gambling should never be a source of income.

Also you didn't have to make mention of a particular country since it happens all around the world.

I haven't really been addicted before so I wouldn't say I can relate to this situation. People who get addicted to gambling always say that they are going to quit after it has caused a high level of damage but after a week or less they go back into it. It takes more than having the thought of quitting to make improvements, if you don't put in consistent and conscious effort you would not make any progress with it

There's my close friends that has quited several times but after some number of weeks and months I still see him start to gamble,  he does this, quits especially when he must have lost huge amount of money. This does not happen only to gamble addicts but to also a regular gambler, they find it difficult to quit.
I know how many times I tried quitting gambling too but after sometimes I resume, though in my case I haven't had in mind to quit totally, I used to go on break then comeback when I have seen number of games I have my mind ended up being in the money. Or when I bet with some of my friends over an important match, over who's gonna win that game.

Full stop?  I thought about it but it seems like it would be difficult to stop all at once because gambling can make people want to keep trying again.

If for a few months break, it has been done before but after that it was active again but did not become aggressive in the sense that it only bet small until now it has become a strict discipline.

When a person has enough money and they gamble, it will seem very enjoyable to them and if they win in gambling, the level of pleasure will increase many times. But gambling is not always a win. If the ratio of losses is much higher than winning in gambling, then the risk of losing money is highest for a person. What I mean is that when a person becomes addicted to gambling, even if he loses all his money in gambling, he cannot quit gambling. They get involved in various criminal activities for gambling or for money, but still they have to gamble. Gambling can never be a way of earning a living for a person whether they believe it or not. Especially I will never believe that gambling can be a way of earning for a person.

Yes, I've thought about it, but not quitting completely, just taking breaks, and in fact I have, especially when I realize I'm investing too much time in gambling, or I need to save some money and can't afford to risk anything, but a definitive closure is not the case; it has always been more of a temporary distancing to normalize some specific situation in my life.

​Not been addicted to gambling before, but anyone who is gambling because they want to make some extra income like you described in the op have a higher chance of getting addicted than every other average gambler.

​Some argue that the poor economy and lack of job opportunities in a country contribute to why people in that country are likely to gamble more than every other person, which I strongly disagree with. It's only those who are lazy who go about looking for where to put their problems.

I stopped for a while because I quickly realized that my gambling was beyond my capabilities, and I came back with a better condition, I have limited my gambling, I don't really hope for profits, only sometimes, the more I chase profits, the more I have to spend, now I play simply, deposit with a small amount, win immediately withdraw, lose immediately stop and continue again when I have more money

If a gambling addiction is caused by financial problems, such as job loss, I think it's difficult to break the habit. Even if they try, the habit won't last long because addicts don't have other activities or jobs that generate income. They are likely to relapse because the habit, which has become addictive, often sees gambling as a solution, which actually makes matters worse. Finding or having an activity or job that generates income is one step or solution to breaking an addiction. If their goal in gambling is to make money, having a job and earning money can potentially solve their financial problems. If they are truly serious about quitting their addiction, having a job can be a solution because it frees up their time for work and rest, potentially reducing gambling activity. If they are consistent and focused on their new goals and activities, I think it can work, because whether or not they relapse depends on the gambler themselves.

Someone must not become addicted to game before they think of quiting gamble. Sometimes they think of quiting gamble because of the amount they have lost during those periods of time. Because they have thought about quitting gambling when they are sad doesn't mean they can really stop gamble for real. Words that are spoken out of anger and depression doesn't go that far, it can be serious at that time but when you get happy after, you will really forget what you said during your sad era.

Only greedy people get addicted to gambling. And it is very difficult to get out of this addiction. Since I have been  involved in gambling for a long time, I know a lot of gamblers. Most gamblers get addicted to gambling after winning a large amount of money. They suddenly win a large amount of money and get more  greedy. And gradually lose everything in gambling. Anyway, if one is patient, aware of the harmful aspects of  gambling, especially being careful about spending money, then it is possible to stay away from the harmful aspects of gambling addiction.
But, if once someone  gets addicted , it is very difficult to get bout of this addiction. With strong morale and proper support from family and friends, it is possible to recover from the addiction to some extent.

As someone who gambles accassionally, I don't quite see gambling as a threat to me or anyone around me. I have tried without stress to gamble more responsibly without having to lose so much. I have never thought of quitting gambling as it has done no harm to me yet. I will consider quitting when the need for it arises, but for now, I am safe and will continue to uphold the best gambling practices as long as I keep gambling.

I used to be a regular sports bettor for a long time but it was hurting me. I couldn't control myself at first but I learned a lot about controlling my gambling. I'm back to gambling but I try to do it differently than I used to. I don't think of gambling as a source of income anymore but it's just a way of having fun. Although I always want to win when I gamble, I can control myself now. I used to be a compulsive gambler but I've been able to break free from it.

Quiting gamble is very hard mostly for someone who have been gambling for a long time now and also becoming addicted gradually. It can only be quite easier for someone who is just beginning to gamble but I'm not sure about that because everyone is not the same. Some people can be disciplined when it comes to making of decisions. But it can be easy to take a break for awhile but to stop gambling fully, I don't think it's easy. I have tried but didn't work because I make that decision when I was sad but after everything I forget about what I said and continued but I only limit myself.

I have never thought of quitting gambling because it is something I only do once in a while and not very often. I clearly understand the dangers that comes with doing it often without control and proper financial management. Being able to manage and control oneself is very crucial as a gambler. The thought that gambling can be a source of income has literally lead a lot of people into situations that they never planned for. Situations like personal relationship problems with closed ones, financial problems, debt, and so many problems. It is best every gambler learns how to manage these things, otherwise trying to quite might be a very big deal.

The subject of gambling addiction is somehow intense and need a holistic approach since individual differences is always there to check mate how and what make us addicted, sometimes if someone spends a lot of money on gambling, you can call him and addict, but yeah in the contest of which you mentioned above it call looking for extra money to add up to what they have, so we shouldn't allow just a one direction action determine our choices and level of addictions,.

quitting gambling isn't the issue or the problem here. The main thing is self control, if addicted gambler can be able to subject there gambling habits into control then the issue of quitting gambling won't be necessary. I was once addicted to gambling but I didn't quit, I just realised that I wasn't getting it right, then I had to work on my gambling habits. I now have control over gambling and it isn't an issue to me at all.

It's very hard to quit it that easily, especially in a state like Nigeria, where they are already facing economic hardships. When they have financial issues and no other source of income, they can easily become addicted, they won't be able to get away from it easily. However, if they sincerely commit to themselves, then maybe we can see some improvement. They should first start by ignoring the place, cutting off from their friends, and then leaving those who encourage gambling. Gradually, they can distance themselves from all those things that lead them to it. In a few years, you will see how much you can control yourself.
