Bitcoin only portfolio Or Diversification???

For a somebody looking to have a good crypto portfolio, how should it be structured?
    A lot of people  believe that Bitcoin is the only truly decentralized and the most secure cryptocurrency for long-term. I really understand their point of view as most altcoins do not grow as much as Bitcoin does and the altcoins release nowadays are just rug and pull. A lot of them are heavily manipulated by their creators which makes people avoid them all together.
    Others believe that it's also very good to have a major portion of your portfolio to be Bitcoin while still diversifying a small amount to altcoins or stablecoins for additional growth of income...
     So for someone wanting to invest wisely, what do you recommend. Should they keep a Bitcoin only portfolio or should they diversify a little portion of funds for altcoins too...

I will only prefer to invest in bitcoin. I also invest in altcoins with small amount of money like I am gambling but it is not actually investment but trading and I can either lose or make money from it.

If you want to invest in a coin for a long period of time, it is better you invest in just bitcoin. When the altcoins start to fall, you will know the reason I said this as they fall and not increase to where they were falling from.

Few of them like ethereum, binance coin and solana can be good if you want to invest in altcoins but I only trade them.

Some members doubt about the adequacy of the term "diversification" when we talk only about diversifying between different cryptocurrencies. And in fact we have seen that a clear coupling exists between Bitcoin and the rest of coins generally speaking (the so called decoupling only happened during altseasons, and only to a certain extent).

Answering to your question, I would've better built a portfolio of only Bitcoin, but I've always liked to hold a few coins just in case any of them rallies. What will happen in the future, nobody knows, but a crypto portfolio built mainly with Bitcoin seems to be the most conservative yet most profitable strategy so far.

A newbie in investing is never advised to diversify his investment. If you are a newbie investor and you do not have enough Bitcoin funds yet, then you should ignore the issue of diversification in investment. Because you are not ready to diversify your investment yet or you are not the right person.

When you become an experienced investor and you have enough Bitcoin deposits, you can consider diversifying your investment. However, it should not be more than 10 percent of your total portfolio. When you become an experienced investor and have good knowledge about crypto, it will be easier for you to choose alternative coins. Currently, investors trust coins like ETH, BNB or Sol to diversify their investment. This is not fixed, every investor has different preferences.

Investments are not limited to cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin is a relatively volatile asset, if you are looking to diversify you should be going for an investment that is more stable i contrast, rather than looking for an altcoin which will even be more volatile and could expose you to scams.

You should ultimately research on the coins, even bitcoin before making a decision on which to buy and how to structure your investment plan.

When it comes to cryptocurrencies, yes I almost only buy and hold bitcoin, I saw hell in shitcoins earlier around 2020 and lost lots of money, even to Ethereum scam smart contract projects (million money), so I feel more comfortable and secure purchasing bitcoin. I am also not ruling out any possibility of owning any altcoin or coins of any sort but I would not be buying it with any serious funds or even any fund at all, I can accept gifts or even mine and claim for free and hold to see the turnout of its performance.

To be clear on a direction of pure investment portfolio, I only consider bitcoin.

It is a good idea to diversify your portfolio. You should not rely on just one asset. That is why many people say that you should not put all your eggs in one basket. However, if you are planning for the long term, then you should invest in Bitcoin. Now if you want to keep some money in altcoins as well, then you can choose some of the top altcoins in the market, such as ETH, BNB, SOL, etc. But you should remember that altcoins can never be like Bitcoin. However, you should invest most of your money in Bitcoin and invest a small amount in altcoins, such as 90% in Bitcoin and 10% in altcoins.
But if you are a new investor, then it may be better to focus only on Bitcoin to start investing, but it is your personal matter, but my advice is that you should do more research before you start investing.

Bitcoin all the way but other options are open, since we don't know what will come in the future it is better to be open to other assets like Gold and Stocks too, even alternative altcoins should not be ruled out because many people still manage to make a lot of money from alternative coins to even when other alts are down 95%, solana was once $8 and I don't bother to buy, it went up to $200+ that's a lot of gains already.

The fact is that it’s good idea to diversify because if one investment does not work out, the others may serve as support. But looking at how things work in the crypto industry nowadays, it doesn’t seem to me that diversifying investments makes much sense anymore. I prefer to focus on my Bitcoin portfolio alone, because it’s really very hard to trust any project apart from Bitcoin recently.Most of these altcoins just follow in Bitcoin steps when Bitcoin rises, some altcoins follow and when Bitcoin falls, they also fall sharply.

So, to me, investing in any altcoin is not really worth it, based on my own view. But the point is, it’s not that I don’t have some altcoins in my wallets i do, but they are just small investments. I feel like I am gambling with them, since all the altcoins I own are worth only about 5% of my Bitcoin investment.

A few years ago, I did have some altcoins in my portfolio. But now I am only focused on holding Bitcoin. However, I still have 2 altcoins that I have held for a long time. I am no longer interested in new coins. That doesn't mean I don't believe in altcoins. Some of them have also given me profits. But Bitcoin is indeed the best to hold in the long term.

Bitcoin is the king of all cryptocurrency, therefore, it's better to invest only into bitcoin because the rest altcoins depends on bitcoin price movement. If Bitcoin pumps, they pump a little and if bitcoin dips, they go dipper making it a wrong decision to diversify into altcoins because if thr crypto market is down, your entire investment bitcoin+shitcoins will lose value. Only invest in bitcoin.

If you must divesify, you should diversify into a different line of investment entirely. That's, you should diversify into stock, gold, bond and equity. So that if bitcoin price is down, your other investment might be in profit to balance the risk.

I prefer Bitcoin only because it's good for long term. The main reason why Bitcoin must be the only coin of investment is because it's price goes up every 4 year. That's not the case with Alt coins, their are unlimited number of Alt coins in the market and only few are worthy for investment. We haven't seen any Alt coin that has gone up in price like Bitcoin, they do go up occasionally but give you a limited profit that is very less then Bitcoin. That's why it's better to focus on Bitcoin alone that has the potential to give you good return in four years.

Having a Bitcoin portfolio alone is profitable, that's also a wise choice to consider, I can't recommend any other altcoins because I won't take blame for you lose when the shit coming refuse to pump  . You know that the possibility of getting profits from any altcoin is based on luck just like we treat gambling based on luck. When you want to diversify your investment on digital assets, risk just what you can afford to lose, otherwise just invest only on Bitcoin unless you want to diversify to physical assets.

Honestly, no altcoins are as good as bitcoin. Don't fall for community hype or how the project decided to plan their road map to resemble what may look profitable like bitcoin.

Altcoins are always the risky investment you don't really need to spend buying, if you still think otherwise then be it on your shoulder, i don't think anyone will start listing out options for you to buy from, take complete responsibility incase it sinks, noone else has to be blamed.

Altcoins are still quite risky, whether in the long term or the short term. Bitcoin is risky in the short term but offers more potential for profit in the long term. If you are looking for a safe investment fund, then you should invest only in Bitcoin. I do not want to advise you to invest in any altcoin or recommend any altcoin. Because I would not like to be part of your losses at all. Keep investing in Bitcoin and keep practicing investment strategies. Even gain as much knowledge as possible about crypto, after gaining knowledge, if you think that altcoin investment is profitable, then invest at your own risk, you have the freedom.

Man, you're asking question that was asked so many times here and you won't get straight answer. Because there is no answer which is 100% right. Everyone has their own opinion. It depends on your preferences and what risk you're ready to accept.
If you want my opinion, when it comes to investing, I don't think that you should listen for opinion from random people on internet. You have to make decision yourself.

This is spot on, I think people actually make mistakes of understanding what should be an asset for diversification, I have repeatedly argue that this Altcoins are never an asset in the first place talk more of been used for diversification, I tell investors that as long as it has an investment into cryptocurrency then it should be done into bitcoin because to me other Altcoins are simply gamble and should be treated as such just as pointed out rightly by _act_

Diversification is to different assets where both have different market conditions and do not necessarily depends on each other which is not the case for Altcoins because they depend on bitcoin market trend and if anything happens to bitcoin that means even the Altcoins all goes to dead then and that’s not diversification

Investing in altcoins is much riskier than Bitcoin. Therefore, if someone is considering investing, they should reconsider their intention to invest in anything other than Bitcoin, as there's a high risk of suffering significant losses or being scammed.

Even if someone wants to invest in something other than Bitcoin, they don't need to invest a lot of money, just a few percent of their portfolio, and they don't need to invest in multiple tokens, just one or two is enough.

But personally, I prefer to invest solely in Bitcoin. Even though there's the temptation that token "A" could rise hundreds of percent, I prefer to play it safe and don't want to risk my money investing in shitcoins.

For the newbies, I'd say that they should go all in, and bitcoin only portfolio. Because that's the best way to start in this market and also ending with bitcoin only is also a good strategy. But we cannot stop these newbies in exploring more when they want to add more in their portfolio with the altcoins and they have to make sure that they understand the volatility that these altcoins possesses. As long as you know what you're doing, you did your research and everything then go for it but with what we're all suggesting is to buy bitcoin and have a part of it in your portfolio.
